Through taking EDU 210, the author gained knowledge about using Twitter to connect with others in their career field. They followed accounts like @cybraryman1 and @AlbertaEd to stay updated on technology and curriculum changes. Discovery Education provided engaging classroom resources. While the author could have engaged more on Twitter, they shared information to help expand their network as seen through reposts and likes. The author recommends Twitter as an easy and fun way for new teachers to build a professional learning network.

Why? As a new teacher it is crucial you follow your
province education system. I was kept up to date
with everything trough this site.
What? The update to date tweets about curriculum
and the videos they share were invaluable to my
resources and knowledge.

5. Discovery Education

• It is important that you use your PLN as means
to find resources for your classroom. Discovery
education provides fantastic resources to better
engage my students.
• It allows me as a teacher to be kept up to date
on all the new activities and resources they can
offer me.

6. Helping those around me
• I think I could of used
twitter better in the

However I do feel that I was constantly
reposting information for those around
me to see. And you cannot have a
network if you are not constantly sharing
the information you have access to. So I
was extending my branches to other to
further my network and the data base of
my peers. The effectiveness of this can
be seen by the people reposting and
liking my comments.

8. Would I recommend it?
I would recommend using
twitter as a PLN in a heart
beat. Especially as a new
teacher. It is so easy and fun
to use. It can be a great tool
to introduce you to everything
out there that can benefit you
both personally and
professionally. I didn’t really
think about using twitter in
this manner but I am very
happy that this is where it
had lead me.
