Platelet rich plasma (PRP) involves injecting a patient's own concentrated platelets and growth factors into injured areas to stimulate healing. PRP is used to treat tendon injuries, muscle strains, ligament sprains, joint injuries like arthritis or meniscus tears, and bone regeneration. It has also been used for wound healing after surgery, cardiac care, skin repair, cosmetic procedures, and dental applications. Case studies show PRP helped regenerate bone prior to dental implant placement in 89% of patients and reduced pain and accelerated recovery for a patient who received a PRP injection for a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Jason G. Attaman, DO, FAAPMR Presents: Image Guided Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP...Jason Attaman
Jason G. Attaman, DO, FAAPMR presents the advantages of using image guidance in Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy for tendon, bone, joint and pain issues.
Dr. Attaman is a double board certified Pain Management Physician with pain control clinic locations in Bellevue, Seattle, and Auburn, Washington, USA.
It is very difficult choosing which physician to see when you are suffering from chronic pain. Should you see a pain doctor, a surgeon, a neurologist, a chiropractor, a naturopath, an acupuncturist? The choices and options are bewildering! If you choose to see Dr. Attaman, you will find a physician that will thoroughly examine your case, and suggest treatment options for you that will draw from every specialty of medicine. Generally Dr. Attaman likes to try conservative treatment options such as physical therapy before invasive options such as pain reducing injections and surgery. Therefore if massage therapy is best for your condition, that will be offered. Though he does everything to prevent it, if Dr. Attaman thinks you require surgery, you will be referred to the best surgeons in the state. Dr. Attaman offers many dozens of treatment options for every type of pain, and takes pride in being honest with his patients about their choices.
He will not, however, waste your valuable time. If you have already had dozens of sessions of physical therapy and chiropractic, tried dozens of medications over the years, and in general are “fed up” with nothing working for you, Dr. Attaman will promptly and appropriately offer you much more advanced pain management options in which he is extensively trained. Dr. Attaman is always amazed at the treatment options available to patients who have been suffering from pain for even decades.
Dr. Attaman is board certified and Anesthesiology-fellowship trained in the medical subspecialty of Pain Medicine and Interventional Pain Management. He is also residency trained and board certified in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is one of only a few with such extensive qualifications in the state of Washington.
He is expert at diagnosing and treating every form of pain, ranging from common back pain to face pain to cancer pain. He uses pain reducing injections and procedures to combat difficult to treat pain conditions. He will guide his treatments to help reduce or eliminate your need for pain medications. He will advise your primary care physician on the best ways to treat your pain.
In addition, he has had extensive training in integrative and “alternative” medicine. He has trained extensively with some of the most prominent alternative medicine physicians.

How Regenerative Medicine Will Revolutionize Healing - Dr. David Greene R3 St...R3 Stem Cell
In this presentation, Dr. David Greene R3 Stem Cell shows how regenerative medicine can play a big part in your healing process! You will learn what to do if you get injured and not be stuck with chronic pain in your life. It is the most reliable way to make sure that you heal quickly and avoid repeat injuries.
A driving force behind their accelerated recoveries is orthobiologics, which combines the body’s natural ability to heal itself and the use of stem cells and advanced medical technologies to repair and heal orthopedic injuries.
A current review by Milano G et al. (http://dx.doi.org/10.1136/jisakos-2019-000274) has duly indicated the safe, cost-effective, and pain-relieving benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in orthopedic sports injuries and several other musculoskeletal conditions.
With several other publications supporting regenerative therapies, S.T.A.R 2020 workshop on the applications of regenerative medicine products in the field of orthopedics helps you understand the medical benefits of PRP and other regenerative therapies like BMAC and SYNOJEL, with advanced hands-on training under the guidance of professional experts.

Title: Sense of Smell
Presenter: Dr. Faiza, Assistant Professor of Physiology
Qualifications:
MBBS (Best Graduate, AIMC Lahore)
FCPS Physiology
ICMT, CHPE, DHPE (STMU)
MPH (GC University, Faisalabad)
MBA (Virtual University of Pakistan)
Learning Objectives:
Describe the primary categories of smells and the concept of odor blindness.
Explain the structure and location of the olfactory membrane and mucosa, including the types and roles of cells involved in olfaction.
Describe the pathway and mechanisms of olfactory signal transmission from the olfactory receptors to the brain.
Illustrate the biochemical cascade triggered by odorant binding to olfactory receptors, including the role of G-proteins and second messengers in generating an action potential.
Identify different types of olfactory disorders such as anosmia, hyposmia, hyperosmia, and dysosmia, including their potential causes.
Key Topics:
Olfactory Genes:
3% of the human genome accounts for olfactory genes.
400 genes for odorant receptors.
Olfactory Membrane:
Located in the superior part of the nasal cavity.
Medially: Folds downward along the superior septum.
Laterally: Folds over the superior turbinate and upper surface of the middle turbinate.
Total surface area: 5-10 square centimeters.
Olfactory Mucosa:
Olfactory Cells: Bipolar nerve cells derived from the CNS (100 million), with 4-25 olfactory cilia per cell.
Sustentacular Cells: Produce mucus and maintain ionic and molecular environment.
Basal Cells: Replace worn-out olfactory cells with an average lifespan of 1-2 months.
Bowman’s Gland: Secretes mucus.
Stimulation of Olfactory Cells:
Odorant dissolves in mucus and attaches to receptors on olfactory cilia.
Involves a cascade effect through G-proteins and second messengers, leading to depolarization and action potential generation in the olfactory nerve.
Quality of a Good Odorant:
Small (3-20 Carbon atoms), volatile, water-soluble, and lipid-soluble.
Facilitated by odorant-binding proteins in mucus.
Membrane Potential and Action Potential:
Resting membrane potential: -55mV.
Action potential frequency in the olfactory nerve increases with odorant strength.
Adaptation Towards the Sense of Smell:
Rapid adaptation within the first second, with further slow adaptation.
Psychological adaptation greater than receptor adaptation, involving feedback inhibition from the central nervous system.
Primary Sensations of Smell:
Camphoraceous, Musky, Floral, Pepperminty, Ethereal, Pungent, Putrid.
Odor Detection Threshold:
Examples: Hydrogen sulfide (0.0005 ppm), Methyl-mercaptan (0.002 ppm).
Some toxic substances are odorless at lethal concentrations.
Characteristics of Smell:
Odor blindness for single substances due to lack of appropriate receptor protein.
Behavioral and emotional influences of smell.
Transmission of Olfactory Signals:
From olfactory cells to glomeruli in the olfactory bulb, involving lateral inhibition.
Primitive, less old, and new olfactory systems with different path

1. Platelet Rich Plasma The What, Why and How’s By Staci Lorimer, Laurie Holmes and Jeff Freshour
2. What is Platelet Rich Plasma? Treatment done to stimulate healing which involves injection of one's own growth factors into injured areas. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a new treatment used for some common orthopedic conditions, including sports injuries. PRP is a concentration of platelet cells taken from your blood, and these platelets have growth factors that may help in the healing process of chronic injuries. Growth factors are chemicals that signal the body to initiate a healing response. By injecting PRP into areas of an injury, the hope is to stimulate and optimize your body’s ability to heal the chronic conditions.
3. How is PRP Used? Treatment of tendonopathy Acute and chronic muscle strain Ligament sprains and intra-artiligament sprains and intra-articular injuries Joint pain such as arthritis and knee meniscus damage Bone Regeneration
4. Additional Uses for PRP Wound Healing in Surgery Cardiac Care Skin Repair After Wounds or Surgery Cosmetic Procedures Disc Regeneration Dental Health
5. Patients With Orthopedic Injuries Can Be Divided Into Two Types Recent Injuries Sports injuries (ligament and tendon) Chronic Recurring Injuries Tennis Elbow Osteoarthritisin the hip and knee
6. Allograft: Case Studyby: Dr. James D. Kassolis Dental Implant Study of bone regeneration using Autogenous graft in the Aveolar Ridge Study was comprised of 36 patients needing Aveolar bone regeneration prior to implant placemement. Reports suggest that platelet-rich plasma (PRP), presumably high in levels of peptide growth factors, may enhance the formation of new bone when used in combination with autogenous graft material 89% of these patients were considered clinically successful demonstrating complete bone coverage of the implant, no mobility, and a normal radiographic appearance.
7. Achilles Tendon: Case Studyby: Dr. Steve Sampson, D.O. 71-year-old male physician who ruptured his Achilles tendon while playing badminton. A musculoskeletal ultrasound was performed identifying major tearing with a few posterior fibers intact of the Achilles tendon. The patient received a platelet rich plasma injection graft under ultrasound guidance approximately 5 weeks following his injury. Initially he experienced some mild ankle swelling after activity, however 3.5 months after treatment he is 99% pain free with no limitations and is exercising without limitations.
8. Radiographic Before and After Images of Achilles Tendon Treatment With PRP "PRP allowed me as a patient to have 'freedom'. I had ruptured my right Achilles tendon and was unable to drive my automobile. Because of PRP, I was able to speed up my recovery in physical therapy and had the 'freedom' to drive and NOT be a burden to family and friends. I am gratefully indebted to Steve Sampson, D.O."
