Plastic items are labeled with numbers 1-7 to identify their type of plastic and whether they can be recycled. Numbers 1 and 2, including water bottles and milk jugs, are the easiest to recycle as they can be reprocessed into new items like fleece clothing or plastic lumber. Numbers 3, 4 and 5 are recycled less often due to their low recyclability, while number 6 polystyrene can be recycled into cassette tapes or insulation. Number 7 and unmarked plastics are the hardest to recycle and are seldom collected or recycled by municipal programs.
Manufacturing of Recycled Polyester Fiber from used PET BottlesAjjay Kumar Gupta
Manufacturing of Recycled Polyester Fiber from used PET Bottles. Recycling Plastic Bottle into Synthetic Fiber.
Polyester may be a manmade Fibre, synthesized from petrochemical products by a process called polymerization. Polyester springs from crude oil petroleum and may be a non- natural resource. It’s processed through a system called ‘cracking’ which treats the petroleum though intensive heating and cooling, fuel, solvents, pressure and catalysts to interrupt down the molecular structure.
The most common variety of recycled polyester is understood as rPET, which comes from discarded clear plastic bottles rather than raw petrochemicals. Polyester fabric recycling, where the particular polyester yarn is recycled, is a smaller amount common. During this case, polyester scraps and textiles are broken down into Fibre components which will then be spun into the recycled yarns.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

1. How to Recycle DifferentHow to Recycle Different
Types of PlasticTypes of Plastic
Dear EarthTalk: What is the deal with plastics recycling
these days? Can you explain what the different numbers
molded onto the bottom of plastic containers stand for?
– Tom Croarkin, Fairfield, CT
The confusion over what we can and cannot recycle
continues to confound consumers. Plastics are especially
troublesome, as different types of plastic require
different processing to be reformulated and re-used as
raw material. Some municipalities accept all types of
plastic for recycling, while others only accept jugs,
containers and bottles with certain numbers stamped on
their bottoms.

2. Recycling by the Numbers
The symbol code we’re familiar with—a single digit ranging
from 1 to 7 and surrounded by a triangle of arrows—was
designed by The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) in 1988
to allow consumers and recyclers to differentiate types of
plastics while providing a uniform coding system for
manufacturers.
The numbers, which 39 U.S. states now require to be molded
or imprinted on all eight-ounce to five-gallon containers that
can accept the half-inch minimum-size symbol, identify the
type of plastic. According to the American Plastics Council,
an industry trade group, the symbols also help recyclers do
their jobs more effectively.
