Filming locations
Most of my scenes are going to be inside my own house; this is because I would find it easier to film
certain clips in my house as personally, I struggle when I am at home. I also want to film some clips
outside my house.
Scene over views
SCENE 1 - “Introduction”
This scene is not going to have any shot types, but it is going to have some editing techniques that are
going to make the introduction important. I want to have the title “Dying on the inside – short film |
eating disorders” coming onto the screen with an effect (will decide when editing). After the title I am
going to have producer and company I am working with on the screen also with an effect. The type of
background I would have would be basic but related to the short film. I am going to research into
looking at different but relevant backgrounds for my short film. I might try and create on myself based
off the research I would have gained.
Scene 2 - “Morning routine”
This scene is going to be interior and will be filmed in the bedroom and kitchen. I will be positioning the
camera in relevant areas of these rooms. I am going to show what she does, what she does not want to
2. do. I am going to make sure the audience understands that this is what she does every morning without
fail.
Scene 3 - “Motivation”
She uses different techniques to distract herself from the feeling of being hungry. I am going to show
different apps and websites she goes on (TikTok, different social media pages, and google searches). I
am going to show different angles of her doing different work out routines. Going to make sure the
audience is aware that some of these works out routines are intense and as not intense; proving that
doing this amount of exercise over a prolonged period is not good considering her energy levels, and
how she is only burning calories and not eating after working out.
Scene 4 - “Toxic friend”
As this documentary is about eating disorders in general but also mostly on anorexia, I am going to make
sure that the audience understands that the disorder gives the person the feeling that what is going on
in her head is what is best and good for her. It is like having a friend encourages you to do something
that will benefit you, but it will not; you believe them because they are your friend.
The way I am going to show this scene is by having the girl sit in her room, and the thoughts are going to
be voice overs of everything that goes through her head daily. I will show her distress and how tired it
makes her feel daily.
Scene 5 - “No gain = no pain”
Even though she has done a lot of exercises already today she still does exercises later in the day. These
exercises are intense. She does 10 minutes walking, 20 minutes running/ light jog outside; she comes
home and does 30 set-ups. After the sit-ups she crashes in her bedroom.
Scene 6 - “controlling thoughts”
I am also going to show a phone app that she uses to track her fitness and what she eats, and what limit
of calories she wants to eat (if she does eat) on that day. She checks the calories on everything she
potentially wants to eat, if it is high for what it is she is not going to eat it. If she does not find anything
in her budget, she will not eat anything.
Scene 7 - “Relationships crash”
She is so deep with it herself she does not realize it affects her family and friends. The control over food
at every meal, not wanting to go out with friends if food is involved, the arguments, attitude everything
she does affects her family and friends; she does not realize because she is the only one going through
this and no one understands how she feels as they think it is silly. Her mom says “I wish I looked like
you” her mom thinks it is a compliment, but her mom is saying she looks healthy, and she does not want
3. to be healthy. Even though she knows herself it's not like her to act out, but she feels out of control and
the only thing in her life she can control herself is her weight and food/ calorie intake. I am going to
show this through text messages and show her reaction.
Scene 8 - “Beauty is pain”
The location will be her bedroom, as she cries as no one is around and she feels safe. She cries in a dim
room, potentially listening to music that makes her feel like she is not alone with these thoughts and
feelings. She cries without trying to wake up anyone in the house as she doesn’t want to tell anyone.
Going to show different angles of the room and what she does.
Scene 9 - “The downfall”
After doing these activities continuously her body cannot take it anymore... She faints and her parents
find out. They book a doctor's appointment; her parents do a BMI test online and she is underweight,
and her BMI is not healthy. The doctor tells her that she might need to be impatient if this gets any
worse. She freaks out as she doesn’t want to recover yet as she’s not ready.
Scene 10 - “credits, information, outro”
I am going to add credits, UK helplines related with eating disorders, anorexia and statistics.
