Last Mile Logistics is a piece of market where most of the
regular parcel and courier companies are facing several
challanges.
Most of the logistics companies try to communicate that they
do not pollute our environment (so much…)
Most of the bike couriers have a strong commitment on the
protection of natural and human values, riding the bike is not
just work for them but part of their lifestyle…
How to catch a big fish?
One of our task within the Cyclelogistics Ahead project
was to cooperate with a global CEP player.
Since 1 July 2015, all deliveries are made by our „zero
emission” vehicles in the 5th district for GLS.
GLS – General Logistics Systems
• present in 37 countries
• 39 HUB
• 688 depot (a few of them are kind of M.C.C.)
• over 14 thousand employees
• about 19.000 vehicles
• 436 million parcels in 2014/2015
• over 220.000 contracted customers
GLS-Hungary
• established in 1998.
• 1 national HUB in Budapest
• 33 depot (4 around Budapest + 1 M.C.C.)
• operated by subcontractors
• about 600 vehicles
• over 500 parcel pick-up points (in shops, not automated)
• over 5.000 contracted customers
• revenues in 2013: 11,399 billion HUF (36,78 million EUR)
• profit in 2013: 2,950 billion HUF (9,51 million EUR)
The zero emission fleet contains:
1 Nissan env-200, fully electrical
2 Radkutsche e-trikes
2 Bullitts
MCC seems to be a must for last mile deliveries
