The Democratization of Learning and DevelopmentDavid Blake
The future of learning and development (L&D) is already here. This new reality includes workers and their managers sharing more of the responsibility than you might be used to. That doesn’t mean your L&D organization, practices, and tools are obsolete—they still play an important role. But they do need to evolve. These days, the most successful chief learning officers do more than just supply learning. They also enable their workers to take learning into their own hands.
The 2012 AIT Annual Report summarizes the key events surrounding AIT's institutional crisis in 2012. In January, Bangladesh became the 7th country to ratify the New AIT Charter. However, a dispute arose between AIT and Thailand regarding the validity and legal status of the New Charter. This led to issues with AIT's budget and questions about the validity of its degrees. The Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees worked tirelessly with the Board to resolve the difficulties and return AIT to stable operations. However, the crisis impacted AIT's recovery from severe flooding in 2011 and paralyzed administration and governance for part of the year.
Amber D. Evans-Marcu (Virginia Tech, rSmart) presents information obtained in her dissertation research regarding how awareness and adoption are often hindered by assumptions, misconceptions and a general lack of knowledge regarding any innovation. During her research, she unearthed a trove of adoption models specifically for use in higher education. In this session, she will explain how her experience and knowledge to apply a particular diffusion of innovation model, the Concerns Based Adoption Model (CBAM), came to fruition during the VT Transition from Blackboard to Sakai. She will also explain how other models can prove effective against significant resistance that can often arise across campuses from non-technical stakeholders, especially those unfamiliar with the open source ecosystem.
In this session, Evans-Marcu will explain:
* The importance of models
* Selecting a model
* Applying the CBAM model
* Pitfalls to avoid

2. Plaksha is not just a university. It is a statement of
bold aspirations of 21st century India articulated
in the vision of its founders for reimagining
higher education.
In the new vision for engineering education,
traditional disciplinary boundaries do not exist
and teaching and learning methods continuously
evolve in response to research findings on
cognition and learning. In this model, students
will be prepared, through experiential learning, to
create solutions that address complex problems
of the modern world. They will be equipped with intensive grounding in digital
technologies, understanding of the physical, natural, and economic world, teamwork
skills, and a training to acquire new knowledge at will as and when required. Further, our
students will have thorough immersion in social sciences so that they develop broad
social perspective and grow up as caring citizens of the world.
At Plaksha, we embrace the deep traditions of scholarship from the ancient universities,
such as Takshashila and Nalanda, to the modern temples of learning from across the
world. We are committed to keep all our students and faculty engaged in continuous
research that not only advances the frontiers of knowledge but also empowers our
society with innovations and technologies that firmly target a sustainable living.
Research at Plaksha will form the basic DNA of the university; it will pervade everything
we do. Our research will target the grand challenges of our world, and influence all
learning and teaching on the campus. It is apt that Plaksha's name is inspired by the
tree from which a metaphorical river of learning flows endlessly, nurturing everything it
touches.
I take special pleasure in inviting you to our campus as the Founding Vice Chancellor.
Please come, visit us, and feel the pulse

5. Hear what our students say
I was offered a set of pre-placement interviews on completion of my
Capstone project, and was fortunate enough to make the cut, thanks to
all the guidance that I received at Plaksha University. Onto the climb
now...
Narayan Sharma,Class of 2021
Placed as: Data Scientist, Infoedge
The amalgamation of courses in Data Science, Product, and Design
courses sharpened my perspective. Looking back, TLP has made me
flexible and adept in technical, design, and leadership skills. I would
not have had it any other way!
TLP for sure has been one of the most exhilarating rides of my life so far!
Soon after completing the capstone, I got a pre-placement offer from
BCG - one of the proudest and luckiest moments of my life.
Piyush Sharma, Class of 2021
Placed as: Product Manager, BCG
At TLF, I worked on innovative projects with highly enterprising, like-minded
individuals. I met Lakshay Sahni during my Capstone Project. He is the
co-founder of our startup, StimVeda. Together we designed the technology
behind a non-invasive brain stimulation device with encouragement and
hands-on mentoring by Plaksha Founders.
Ramya Yellapragada, Class of 2020
Co-founder, StimVeda
I have had the unending support of the entire Plaksha community
throughout my journey - discussions and mentee sessions with founders
and the team gave me the direction, strength, and motivation to stay
focused on my career goals.
Shubham Goel, Class of 2020
Placed as: Senior Product Manager, Microsoft
Prajna Vegesna, Class of 2021
Placed as: Imagineer, Fractal
Anku Rani, Class of 2021
Placed as: Data Scientist, Verisk
Plaksha not only focuses on technical learning but also takes care of
your emotional growth through mentorship and counseling sessions.
As a result of all the support, I have started my journey as a data
