Liverpool City Council has invested £169 million to build 12 new schools by May 2016 as part of a school investment programme, following the closure of the previous Building Schools for the Future programme. Ten of the 12 schools have been completed or started construction on time and on budget, providing new secondary, special and primary schools. The programme has focused on quality of construction as well as supporting the local economy through local spending, jobs, and apprenticeships.
