Research   credentials BU is the fourth most improved university in the UK for the quality of its research in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE, 2008.  Times Higher Education ) For example: Dr Ben Thomas and Prof Mark Hadfield have undertaken some fantastic research with the RNLI to improve the lifeboat slipways in the UK and Ireland.
