2. • PIXEL HOUSE WHEN VIEWED FROM SOME DISTANCE GIVES A VIEW OF FLAT WALL BUT
IN ACTUAL THE BRICKS ARE ARRANGED IN ORTHOGONAL ORDER.
• A SINGLE BRICK IS USED AT A TIME REPRESENTING PIXES AS A PART OF WHOLE IMAGE.
• THE BUILDING HAS A UNIQUE FAÇADE.
• VAGUENESS BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SPACES AND LANDSCAPING AND BUILDING.
• TO BREAK THE ROW INTO FRAGMENTS RATHER THAN JUST EXTENDING THE WALL OF
HOUSES.
3. PURPOSE/ ROLE OF THE BUILDING
• IT IS THE POINT OF RUPTURE BETWEEN THE CLEARLY DEFINED FRONT AND BACK YARD SPACES;
THE POINT AT WHICH THE CONTINUOUS FAÇADE OF THE ROW ENDS.
• THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE TERRITORIES ARE NOT CLEAR AS ON OTHER SITES WITHIN THE ROW.
• WHILE THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE TERRITORIES ARE AMBIGUOUS,THE END CONDITION IS WHERE
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE BUILDING AND THE LANDSCAPE IS CLEAREST.
• THE ENTIRE ROW OF HOUSES CAN BE READ AS AN OBJECT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BUILDING
AND LANDSCAPE.
• THEY CHOOSE TO BREAK THE ROW INTO FRAGMENTS RATHER THAN JUST EXTENDING THE ROW
“WALL” TO THE END OF THE SITE.
• PLACING THE MAIN HOUSE AT THE WESTERN END OF THE SITE ALLOWS PASSAGE BETWEEN
FRONT AND BACK YARDS AND CREATES AN OUTDOOR SPACE OPEN TO THE STREET WITHIN THE
DEPTH OF THE ROW HOUSE.
4. IT HAS A VERY NEUTRAL
FURNITURE COLOUR SCHEME.

5. ROLE OF BUILDING IN SERVING THE EXPERIENCE
• THIS HOUSE IS FOR A YOUNG FAMILY WITH TWO CHILDREN.THEY ARE VERY
INTERESTED IN THE LARGER COMMUNITY AND PLAN ON SHARING THEIR
EXTERIOR SPACES WITH THE COMMUNITY.
• THEY INTEND TO CREATE A DAY CARE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN.
• THE SITE IS PERFECTLY MATCHED WITH THE CLIENT’S INTENTIONS;IT IS THE LAST
HOUSE IN A ROW OF HOUSES THAT BREAKS THE ROWS INTO FRAGMENTS.
• THE WESTERN END OF THE SITE ALLOWS PASSAGE BETWEEN FRONT AND
BACKYARDS.
• THE BUILDING CREATES OUTDOOR SPACE TO OPEN IN THE STREET.
• THE BACKYARD HAS SEMI PRIVATE ACCESSIBILITY DIRECTLY FROM FRONTYARD.
7. LAYYING METHOD
• BRICKS ARE ARRANGED IN ORTHOGONAL ORDER AND
ALLOWING BRICKS TO SLIDE OUT OF PLANE TO CREATE THE
CURVED WALL.
• CURVES TURNED TACCATO AT THE EDGES WHERE WE SEE
INDIVIDUAL BRICKS EXPOSED.
• 10,000 BRICKS AT REAR THAT CREATES A CURVED SURFACE.
• LIGHT CREATES CASCADE OF SHADOW THAT CHANGES ITS
COLOUR AS THE SUN SET.
• THE TENSION BETWEEN ORTHOGONAL AND CONTOURED FORM IS
REVEALED.
• THIS TECTONIC TENSION IS PARALLEL TO THE TENSION THAT EXIST
BETWEEN THE BUILDING AND ROW OF HOUSES ADJACENT TO IT.
• IT GIVES US “GRAIN EFFECT” IN WHICH WHEN SEEN FROM A
DISTANT IT LOOKS A FLAT FAÇADE BUT WHEN SEEN FROM CLOSE IT
HAS THE PIXELATED FROM.
• IT HAS THE STAGGERED BRICKS WITH CURVED FRONT FACADE AND
3D PROFILE.
• LARGE WINDOW AND LARGE BOLD YELLOW DOOR GIVES COMPLEX
APPEARANCE
