Slide4 and 5. WHY TEEN COMEDY?
We decided to do teen comedy as it was a genre both myself and Kimone enjoyed. We figured that
as we enjoyed it would be easier to present this as we are teens.
With this knowledge and from watching other ‘Teen Comedy’ films we decided not to add so many
effects as this would drag this towards a kids film or even an action adventure film. We decided to
stick to plain cross fades, slow motions and the occasional freeze frame.
Slide 7. LOCATION
We decided to set our sequence in the home, showing the characters on their way to school. We
knew if we was to set it in a school we wouldn’t be able to introduce our character that well.
Slide 8-13. SOCIAL GROUPS
The social groups we used were females of an afro-Caribbean decent and teenagers. We decided to
stick to one token – subverting all stereotypes. We knew females would be seen as sex objects this is
why we clothed our girls from head to toe – no low cut tops, no tight jeans etc.We decided not to
dress our teens in red, as this is associated with sexiness. We knew teens were usually labelled as
being lazy, so we tried to keep our teens active. Our sequence shows our teenagers getting ready for
school; we knew the teenagers will be seen in a positive light. Black characters are usually in co-
operated in gang related movies, or, in comedy films as the very funny person. With this we knew it
would be easier to make our characters funny. Even in the ‘Teen Comedy’ when there is a black girl,
she is still the stereotypical white girl.
Slide 14&16.DISTRIBUTION.
We decided to go with Paramount and Working Title as they are two very successful companies. We
had the idea of getting our product shown I the states at the EXACT same time as the UK release –
preventing piracy. We knew we would have to use posters and trailers to advertise product along
with the website. The interviews will help raise awareness about our sequence.
Slide 15. BUMPER
As we (Kimone and I) are girls, we decided to make our bumper girly – using font from IMovie we
though it was only right to in cooperate this into our image. Also we are ‘REDnailsent’ so this is why
the nails are also in the bumper.
Slide 17.
We used IMovie to create or product. We did attempt to use ‘Final Cut Pro’ but had a few problems.
We also had problems with the non-copyright track – as even though it was on a non-copyright
channel, it was still owned by youtube. With this, we decided to turn to Freeplay.
Slide 18.AUDIENCE AND ATTRACTION?
Our primary audience is teenage girls around the age of 15-19. Males will be able to watch this also –
both homo/heterosexual males. Our sequence is easy to follow; the ‘IT’ girl, ‘misfit’ and ‘diva’. Weve
attractive our audience with the catchy soundtrack and the mise-en-scene. For example, most teens
can relate to the photos on the wall. It’s not likely for teens to wear matching PJ’s this is why Kimone
is in baggy t-shirt and jogging bottoms.
Slide 25 and 26.TECHNOLOGY AND KNOWLEDGE.
We decided to use Kimone’s camera, as it was an HD which meant that the quality of the opening
sequence would be professional. The we also battled between tripods as one was of better qualities
than the basic ones.
I knew how to use other shots and angles which enabled me to edit easier. At first was difficult but it
was easier to master as time went by.
