Pitch
Goodbye High School

By Mariam Nawab
Our Product
 To ‘pitch’ something is to sell it. In the film industry it
is used all over the production of the film, distribution
    and marketing.
 For our production company, we need to pitch our
idea of a film we wish to release, in order for the
media to grasp the opportunity to attract the
attention of the public, so they have an interest in it.
    Therefore making it popular.
Goodbye High School
Our main actress is Amy Dunn, who depicts Olivia in
our film. The reason why we chose Amy was as we
know she is a good actress and is versatile for any
role. Amy also studies Drama A level and so it made
our choice, to find an actress, much easier.

The film entails a mixture of emotions undergone by
the audience. It has elements of comedy and sorrow
and so the genre we decided to go with was comedy
drama, because of this.
Narrative
 The narrative of our film is original, straightforward and
distinctive. The reason, is for the audience to distinguish
between the popular genre of Comedy or Romantic/
Comedy films, and their storylines and how the film our
production company will create, will differ from them.
 We put attention on the humorous side of a drama film.
Things that may not be humorous, also come across as
humorous, but depicts distressing events which adds to
the comical effect we aim to attract to the audience.
Our Idea
 We hope to create a Comedy/ Drama, which is less popular
   then other genres.
 This was because we wanted to make this genre more trendy
in the media and film industry. We are sure that it will attract
the public and movie lovers but we will have a target that we
feel our film and its genre will most likely appeal to.
 The age group is 16-19, mainly due to the fact that this group
is most likely to either be in higher education (film plot) or are
on the verge of going into university. This helps our
production as we can focus on a group that can relate to the
film we will create and additionally, enjoy the film.
Research
o The reason why we chose the genre of Comedy/Drama, is because it’s missing its
    popularity.

o We found out that it is high in demand and for that reason we wanted to respond to the
public and give them something they really want to watch.

o By choosing this genre, we are giving it popularity, acknowledgement and interest from the
    public.

o The below chart demonstrates the high demand for Comedy/Drama and this is the reason
why we chose to go with it.

                                                              Action
                                                              Adventure
                                                              Comedy/Drama
                                                              Horror
                                                              Sci-fi
                                                              Thriller
Main Character
 Olivia, a 17 year old girl, charts the famous words of Charles
Dickens, as a pun, adding to the effect of the comedy side of the
comedy/drama. She is leaving her high school life behind,
reminisces events that have occurred whilst being at her school for
    7 years.
 She reminds herself, whilst sitting at a bench on the last day of
school, of distressing events that have somewhat left her scarred
    for life.
 As the flashbacks of the disturbing events appear, she makes her
way slowly out of the school building, saying her last goodbyes,
which mirrors the title of the film, ‘Goodbye High School’.
Inspiration for our film
 Some of the inspiration for our film we’ve listed below. The reasons why we chose them are because
they are of or similar to our genre.
 The Inbetweeners: This programme can be compared to our genre as it consists of both comedy and
drama, such as being stuck in awkward situations. This is similar to our film because we’ve created
scenarios for Olivia in which she finds it hard to forget them as they affect her to a large extent.
 Mean Girls: This is about a girl who starts a new life at a new school after moving from Africa. She,
being an outcast, gets to know some “rejects” that are unpopular and are the right crowd for her.
However, she plays games and gets to know some other “popular” girls, that are the wrong crowd.
Therefore changing her humble personality to being “snobby”. She ends up in a scenario of choosing
which group she should go with. The basic idea is to, similar to Inbetweeners, show that people end up
in unplanned circumstances which are hard to come out of.
 Overall, these inspired us because both entailed comical aspects, which we unpicked and developed
to suit our film. Both involve school or college students which relates to our film as well.
Budget
 The budget of our film will be low because we are a
new production company that needs strategies for
   saving more and spending less.
 We wish to spend up to £15.

 This will cover the advertising, endorsing and
   sponsors of our final product.
School Leavers Productions
 We are an organisation that has aims and objectives we wish to
achieve to give the public the gratification they require.
 We have a skilled and experience director who has worked well with
camera woman, Chloe. Together they can produce a film like no other,
   because of their imagination.
 The editor is skilled in a unique and experienced way too. He always
tries his hardest to create the best films.
 We are all innovators and hope to achieve a popular product at the
   end of our production.
