The poem "From A Railway Carriage" by Robert Louis Stevenson describes the passing scenery seen from the window of a moving train. The speaker sees trees and meadows, towns and rivers flashing past as the train speeds along the tracks. However, the changing views are merely glimpses that provide little understanding of the places and people that are rushed by in the landscape outside.
