This document presents research exploring phylogenetic diversity (PD) over deep time using Mesozoic dinosaurs. The researchers constructed updated phylogenetic hypotheses incorporating 100 trees for major dinosaur groups. They calculated PD through time for various dinosaur groups and found high correlation between PD and taxonomic richness. Overall PD tracks closely with traditional measures of paleobiodiversity, suggesting it captures evolutionary history well. Further work is still needed to refine temporal calibrations.
