Lydia Black conducted four experiments in Photoshop to design magazine covers. The first experiment had a clashing background color and poorly edited eyebrows. The second used an unsuitable girly background color. The third was going well until the spot healing tool was used incorrectly. The fourth was nearing completion with just minor touch ups and additions left to do.

2. EXPERIMENT #1
This experiment didn’t go
very well as the background
colour clashed with the top
chosen to wear and the
eyebrows look obviously
drawn on, on photoshop.
Not much editing went on
the picture other than the
eyebrows. Nothing
matches, and it looks very
basic and not very
professional.

3. EXPERIMENT #2
This experiment didn’t go very
well as the background colour is
too girly for a mixed gender
music magazine. Magazines
have to think about whether
their audience will buy it with the
colours they have on the front
that week/fortnight/month. No
editing went on the picture,
which is probably needed to
make the front cover look a lot
more professional.

4. EXPERIMENT #3
Things were going well with this
experiment. I got the masthead
how I wanted it, I chose a good
background colour which is
good for a mixed gender
magazine. I also changed the
hair colour effectively. However;
as you can see things went
wrong when I attempted to use
the ‘spot healing tool’. I must
have used it incorrectly as
things obviously went wrong!

5. EXPERIMENT #4
This is hopefully my finally draft
of my front cover. So far it is
going well. I just need to add
cover lines, barcode, date and
price and a few final touch ups
on the picture are needed. I am
really happy with this so far.
