2. In 1970, Annie Leibovitz started her career as a photographer, working for
the recently launched Rolling Stone magazine.
Her intimate photographs of celebrities helped to define the Rolling Stone
look, and she worked as chief
photographer of the magazine until 1983.
Later, Leibovitz worked as The Rolling
Stones concert-tour photographer. Her
favorite photo from the tour was of Mick
Jagger in an elevator.
3. On December 8 1980, Annie Leibovitz had a photo shoot with John Lennon
for the Rolling Stone magazine.
Leibovitz was the last person to professionally photograph John Lennon,
as he was shot and killed five hours later.
Leibovitz mounted an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, and also
worked for Vanity Fair magazine.
In April 2008, she took part in a photo shoot, photographing Miley Cyrus at
the age of 15 for Vanity Fair, in which she posed topless. The photograph
raised a lot of discussion, and Leibovitz said; “I'm sorry
that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted, the
photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very
little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”
