2. Lindsay Adler.
BIOGRAPHY.
Lindsay Adler is a professional
photographer specialising in fashion and
portraits in New York and London. At the
age of 13, she realised her passion for
photography, winning many awards and
scholarships. She has graduated from
Syracuse University and at the age of 24,
has since moved to New York to capture
fashion, portraits and a variety of other
work for clients. Her work has appeared
in photography and fashion magazines
internationally, such as Chic Today,
Popular Photography and Sublime.
Adler’s style of photography is a
great way to capture images that
can be easily rendered to suit the
effect that I want. Especially as I
do not want to use human models
in my work. Instead, I want to stuff
the clothing, and will have to prop
them up against objects.
3. General Information.
• Lindsay Adler has not photographed anyone famous
during her career.
• Adler’s images are often captured in a natural
environment or in rural areas. The backgrounds that
she uses often influences the models clothing, make
up and poses. (e.g.: natural poses in a natural
environment).
• She is known to retouch her photographs to
emphasise her portraits, especially the eyes, where
“Kino Flos” are used.
• She now teaches photography workshops, inspiring
others to use her techniques effectively.
4. Why Adler?
• Adler is a photographer that can be used in a
very versatile way. Not only can you use the
style of Adler, but you can also focus on the
detail and decoration that is used in her
photographs. Moreover, the variation in the use
of colour and materials that she photographs
add texture and create an emotion that she
wants the audience to feel. The backgrounds she
uses can be adapted easily to suit the effect that
I want or need. I feel that the weather will affect
when, what and where I capture images,
especially as indoor light is harder to work with.
5. Plans.
• Although Adler’s photographs are quite
traditional in the sense that models are
posing and the environment has been
designed to influence the clothing that they
are wearing, they do also bring a surreal
feeling, which I plan to work on and develop
through out my films. Especially as I do not
particularly want to use human models in my
images.
