This document contains contact sheets from photo shoots with three sets of highlighted images. The first set in red are the narrowed down photos to use in a magazine. The second set compares two front cover photo options, with one having more detail throughout. The third set shows musicians playing instruments to capture the indie genre for the music magazine. A style sheet analysis led to selecting two images with strong light contrast in backgrounds similar to research examples.

1. Photographs

2. This contact sheet shows three different sets of images. The images
highlighted in red are the narrowed down photographs which I want to use
in my magazine.

3. These are the two options for the image on my front cover. The angle of the subject
matter is exactly the same but it’s the angle of the camera that is different. The one on
the left is a eye level medium long shot with a large section of negative space at the
top of the page. For my front cover however the image on the right holds more detail
throughout the entirety of the cover yet still hold enough room at the top of the page
to include a masthead and other details like price and the date of release.

4. These images were taken from a previous concert and
I feel like they capture the indie genre and because
they also show the instruments they are playing,
clearly showing the subjects are musicians.
By creating a style sheet and looking at existing
magazine products I decided that by adding in a
performance shot of a musician or band it will
exaggerate the genre that it is a music magazine.
From creating a style sheet I narrowed down the
images to these two as they have strong light contrast
in the background much like what I found in my
research. The image below is an example of the type
of images I wanted to look for within these images.
