3. The compositional rule that is used in the
first photograph is viewpoint. I chose the
compositional rule of viewpoint because
this compositional rule had made
important affect to my photograph and
makes the photograph more related to my
topic by making the people smaller (also
by comparing to the tree). I have taken the
photograph from my house which is in the
3rd floor. I felt like if people looks smaller, it
could also mean that the person has lesser
confidence for facing other people so he is
staying alone. And the tree with no leaves
could add that expression.
4. The second photo used leading
lines, balancing elements. But one big
compositional rule that I have chose overall is
leading lines. The leading lines are used to
lead our eyesight to the white building at the
end. And as it leads our eyesight to the white
building, we can see the big empty road
without any cars or people passing by.To the
fact that there is nobody passing this place
by, I feel like, that place is going to be quiet
and no people inside working.
5. The third photograph had used viewpoint, and
rule of thirds. But the overall compositional rule
that I have chosen is viewpoint. I have taken the
photo from the third floor up so it makes the
affect of making the objects more smaller. First
thing that I saw in this photograph is old house
where I think that there can’t be anyone living
there (but there is actually people living there. As
there aren’t any leaves on the tree, and the open
space adds me the thinking of that fact. And the
compositional rule of viewpoint had vitalized my
thinking the most.
6. I think the forth photograph is using composition of
leading lines and depth. The one composition rule that I
have chosen overall is leading lines even though depth
used in this photograph is similar to leading lines.
Leading lines in this photographs are used to lead our
eyes to the end of the empty road and the empty orange
sky. Also as they were leading my eyes to the end of the
road, my eyes also automatically went to the buildings
on the side. These type of buildings are common to see in
Vientiane roads (houses that aren’t splendid, especially
the house that looks like it is going to fall in front) .
Without any people in front, and only houses where
people live in added my thinking to lead to my topic.
7. There are lots of compositional rules used in this
photograph and all of them are important so I can’t
choose one. First of all, compositional rule used was
depth. It is because the sand in the bottom is the object
that is in the front and river, is at the back/ under the
sand. Same with the trees on the back of the river, and
lastly, sun is farthest out even though it is the biggest.
The last compositional rule that this photograph could be
using is symmetry. The reason is, if there wasn’t any sun,
the photograph would be symmetry but because there is
the sun on the left, it breaks off the compositional rule of
symmetry and make the sun more stand out.
8. The compositional rule that was used in this photographs
are, rule of thirds. The rule of thirds is used with the
building and the bed and the building that looks empty.
Those two objects is caught in the grids of third in this
photograph. This element could make people think
about poorness about Laos but I chose this photograph
because when you look at the photograph carefully, in
the photograph there is a bed looking object in front of
the door. As the bed is not big, I think there couldn’t be
more than 1 or 2 people on it.This could also lead to the
idea that there aren’t lot of people living in this house.
And the building behind the bed looked empty. So I
thought my guess could match with the main idea that I
wanted to express.
