The emancipation of slave trade in Britain
Introduction
Within two decades, Britain had made decisive actions to abolish the transatlantic slave trade, and
this made the emancipation of trade emerge as one of the most significant reform movements that
took place in the 18th and 19th centuries. In July 1833, the British parliament abolished slave
buying and selling through the passing of a Bill in the House of Commons and then in the House
of Lords which abolished slave trade all through the British Empire. How this came into place has
been largely debated and yet slave trade provided the British nation with money, employment, and
luxurious commodities enriching the country. Interpretations of the British slave trade tends to be
explained by the humanitarian or moral movements where emancipation campaigns were made by
religious groups (Porter, 43). Another famous interpretation and which makes the focus of this
paper is that emancipation of the slave trade was due to changes in economic interests. This paper
argues that the emancipation of slave trade in British land and also on the colonial territories
coincided with the periods of economic decline in the British Caribbean, and so emancipationist
ideas came due to the growth of free labor ideologies and the factory system.
The paper is going to argue this is basing on three texts; one is The Emancipation of Slavery: The
British Debate by ReМЃvauger CeМЃcile focusing on the

Classify Genetic Diseases
There are three categories that can classify genetic diseases. They are single gene disorders,
chromosome disorders, and multifactorial disorder or complex disease. Each of these categories
are different with and affect people in certain ways. Single gene disorders, also called Mendelian
disorders, are caused by a modification that occurs in one specific gene. An autosomal dominant
defect occurs when there is an altered gene and a healthy gene that are inherited. An example of
this type of defect would be Huntington s disease, an individual only needs one copy of this
defective gene on chromosomefour to have the disorder. Autosomal recessive defect, is another
type of single gene disorders that occurs when there is two altered variations of

Gospel Music As A Genre Of Christian Music
Ever think about what the real definition of Gospel music is? Gospel music is a genre of
Christian music. Gospel is the term used for the first four books of the New Testament, describing
the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The word gospel means good news which is derived from
the Greek word Оµ бЅђО±ОіОіОО»О№ОїОЅ. Gospel musicserves many purposes such as
aesthetic pleasures and religious purposes and as an entertainment product for the market. Gospel
music consists of a strong harmony and Christian lyrics.
Gospel music became known around the 17t h century and rooted in the black tradition. Hand
clapping and foot stomping are often associated when gospel music is playing. Most of the
singing during that time was a cappella in other words with no music. The first use of the term
Gospel Song was in 1874. Some of the original gospel songs were written and composed by autho
rs such as George Root, William Howard Doane and Fanny Crosby.
In the slavery era many slave owners did not allow slaves to use traditional african instruments ,
sing or play their native music. As a result many of the words and melodies were forgotten and
vanished in North America. A new style of music emerged from this limitation. The church allowed
many slaves to express their feelings through gospel songs. Many slaves were not allowed to attend
but met secretly anyway.
The best part about gospel music tradition was the use of a choir. The church choir members
consisted of volunteer singers from the

Eclipse Is An Open Source Integrated Development...
Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse
Yujia Xie
I.Introduction
Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer
programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of
the most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in
2001, Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool
for developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of
programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its
accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development
Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.).
One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share
modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building
classes. For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was
designed specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that
would later benefit the performance of Eclipse. Eclipse provide an environment that individual
users can manipulate the framework to facilitate their daily work. Like most of the open source
software, originally, Eclipse was written by a group of paid, full time developer, setting up the
fundamental structure at

Social Problems Final
In the situation of a single parent woman it would be difficult if not impossible for this parent to
financially provide for herself and child on a minimum wages. The major components of their
survival would be to meet the essential needs of providing shelter, food, clothing, and health
insurance. If the parent is working a day job there would be the need for an afterschool program or
the child staying with family. If the parent had a 2nd or 3rd shift she would also need to set up
alternative care for the child. This parent would need a strong network of family and friends to
overcome the obstacles she might face.
A single parent would have to decide what the best mode of transportation is whether it is public
transportation or a used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s more difficult for a single mother to give financially for children as she will make less
income than the male counterpart. It s important for single parent woman to get all the
education she can to improve her career, and be able to give a better life for the child. It will set
an example to the child that they are willing to work hard for a better life. Education is the
single most important element for the child to work hard in school to acquire a life style they
deserve. As a single parent this person continually sacrifices their own needs to meet the needs of
the child. In most cases the child will not see the big picture, and this is not their job to worry
about their next meal or where they will live.
This family would have to live modestly, with no extra pleasures like a vacation or getting the
child certain items that the other kids in school may have received (ex. Video Game Systems, a
bike, attending special classes or summer camps.) This would be a trying time for the parent as it
s every parent s wish to give to your children. As the child grows and matures it s every parent s
hope the child will learn an important lesson about the tough decisions every parent faces. In our
society today children are growing up learning they need all the high tech games that their friends
have received. In fact this is not going produce a well rounded child, but shows them the parents
want to compete with what others parents are

Refinancing Your Student Loans
Refinancing your student loans means that a private lender is essentially buying your Federal
student loans, paying them off, and creating a new loan that it will lend to you on new, original
terms.
The new terms of your refinanced loan will be based off your credit reports, credit score, and other
requirements. The new private loan terms include, among other things, a new interest rate and
potentially a new term (the length of time over which you have to repay your loan).
For example, you could take your Federal student loans that have a 10 year term and refinance
them into one private loan for 20 years.
If you have the option to extend the term of your student loan when you refinance, you should
consider a number of factors before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, I m a trained corporate attorney with student loan debt. If I was unable to extend the
term of my loan from 10 years to 25 years, then I probably wouldn t have been able to switch
career paths to a financial planner because I had to take a significant pay cut to make the move.
Because I was able to extend the term of my loan and make lower monthly payments, I have much
greater job and career flexibility.
When your monthly student loan payment is lower, you have more options because your debt
doesn t play as significant of a role in your monthly expenses.
Example of extending your student loan term
Assume Amy has $45,000 in Federal student loan debt at 6.0% interest rate on a 10 year,
standard repayment plan. Amy decides to refinance her loans to private loans to get a lower
interest rate. Amy and her lender agree to a new loan with a principal balance of $45,000 at a
4.0% interest rate for a period of 25 years. Using a simple amortization calculator, I came up with
the following calculations:
Amy s term: 25 years (2015 2040)
Amy s monthly payments: $237.53
Total repaid: $71,257.97
Amy pays $16,585.60 more in her total amount repaid by extending her term from 10 years to 25
years (see the example below), but her monthly

Comparing Calypso And The Odyssey
The two compositions, Calypso by Suzanne Vega and The Odyssey by Homer, are two different
ways of telling the story about the relationship between Calypso and Odysseus. In each piece
Calypso is very similar, yet very different. The song, Calypso, is a about Calypso letting
Odysseus go. It seems she believes that she kept him all that time and she needs to let him leave.
Calypso says, I will stand upon the shore with a clean heart, when she says with a clean heart , she
refers to her decision that she is going to let Odysseusgo and be free. Repeating the phrase I let him
go at the end of every stanza can be noticed by one in the song. The repetitiveness shows that
Calypso may be regretting her decision, but also knows she must do it.

some opportunities (The Streets Stop Here, 2010). Both coaches and teachers have the ability to
strongly impact the lives of their student athletes and to understate their effect would be unfair.
Sport has played a pivotal role in many different facets of my life. The first is via direct
participation. Moving towns during adolescent years is never easy however, sport provided me
with the opportunity to develop relationships and experience enjoyment during a difficult transition.
My personal example follows the narrative introduced to us in Characteristics of sport based youth
development programs, sport programs provide activities and events that foster friendships and
provide youth with a positive group experience (Perkins and Noam, 2007). This idea of developing
relationships through sport is a trend I look forward to continuing as we embark on this partnership
with young students and athletes this semester in Hartford. As my participation in sport began to
decrease my involvement in other facets of the sport industry proportionately increased. Working in
the sport industry has provided me opportunities I would ve never thought existed. Experiences
such as traveling coast to coast and networking with professionals from organizations such as ESPN

The Use of Compulsory Licensing as a Policy to Combat the...
This paper examines the use of compulsory licensing as a policy to combat the monopoly problem
associated with the patent system. It introduces the notion of an optimal patent one where the
patent life and the licensing royalty rate are both determined optimally. Under certain simplifying
assumptions it is shown that the optimal patentwill have an indefinite life, for both process and
product innovations. Some preliminary calculations suggest that the use of compulsory licensing
may lead to substantial welfare improvements, even if the patent life is left unchanged at 17 years.
India has put in place a patent regime that allows the grant of patents for both products and
processes for all eligible inventions. The changes made in 1999, 2002 and 2005 have been
ostensibly to comply with its WTO ob ligations on intellectual property. How ever, an analysis of
the changes suggests that there were some in Indian industry and government who believed that
stronger patent protection, even beyond what is required under India s international obligations,
will attract local R D as well as foreign direct investment.
It is universally recognized in patent laws that an invention must meet the triple criteria of novelty,
inventive step (or be non obvious) and industrial applicability (or utility) in order to be granted a
patent.
NEED FOR PATENT:
In the 2005 amendment, in the case where patent applications were filed in the mailbox between
1995 and 2005, and these were commercially

Social Movement In Australia
Behind every successful social movement is a well executed and planned system and strategy. One
of the most common frameworks of social change is Saul Alinsky s Community Organising, which
is where another common framework known as Feminist Organising developed from. These
frameworks remain relevant today, and more specifically Feminist Organising in relation to a rape
culture on Australian university campuses.
To be able to fully compare and contrast the two frameworks, it is important to understand their
backgrounds.
Saul Alinsky, the founder of Community Organising , began his long organising career in the late
1930 s in Chicago s Back of the Yards neighbourhood (Hancock, 2017). It was here that he took the
ideas of unions and spoke to leaders to expand the systems and strategies to help organise
disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods nationwide (Stall Stoecker, 1998). From here he generated
many community movements, published two books, produced multiple powerful organisations and
influenced an entire generation of organisers (Stall Stoecker, 1998). Feminist organising however,
is not associated with any particular person or social movement (Stall Stoecker, 1998). This ... Show

A major element of feminist organising is that the issue is local and personal. This is very
applicable to our group. Each of the four female members of the group have experienced rape
culture to different extents, and the one male of the group can relate to this through his own
experience and relationships with the women in his life. It also applies to the hierarchy of our
group. We don t necessarily have an appointed leader and each of us brings different skills and
perspectives. We came up with the idea for this campaign through the same strategy behind
conscious raising groups. As a group we discussed issues that affected us and that we felt passionate

Reflective Essay They Say I Say
The writer starts off with stating the progression of the They Say I Say novel, explaining that
once you read and interpreted the opposing argument, we move onto developing our own
argument. One thing the writer did bring up was the consensus of how people would respond to
having to write your own argument. Bottom line, we all believe we don t know how to do it nor
feel confident enough to interject our own opinion. What we don t realize is we actually can.
My favorite line was that good arguments are not based on more knowledge about the topic but
rather how you can get to the main topic of the issue at hand and then address it. The writer follows
with three main ways to respond to other s arguments which are agreeing, disagreeing or both
combined. These points can help avoid an argument being dragged out or as the saying goes
beating around the bush . Identifying where you stand in your argument can actually make your
argument stronger. What drew me into this piece was that I could identify with this piece. I, too

The Rational Way Of Life
The Rational Way of Life
Epictetus Stoic Recommendation of Freedom
Freedom is an arbitrary concept that has been and will always be limited. The notion of freedom is
possible among equals, however, equality itself is universally different. Arendt, a political theorist,
believes political freedom manifests through action, her reliance on the ability to act implies that
humans can tangibly live freely. Epictetus on the other hand, believes that all humans can be
internally free if they had a stoic mindset in their way of life. He believes that human beings are in
complete control of their happiness and should only worry about what they can control instead of
what they cannot. The revolutionary treasure is the original spirit of individual freedom that has
been lost through the principles of public freedom and public happiness. Freedom as Epictetus
defines is an internal condition that only we ourselves possess control over, his stoic
recommendation offers a simple yet rational approach of living life freely.
Public opinion suffocates the original spirit of the revolutionary treasure because public opinion
provokes a common opposition, thus killing true personal opinions of American citizens. Arendt
states that the Founding Fathers of America equated law based on public opinion with tyranny; in
this sense, democracy was to them a new form of despotism. Paradoxical as it may sound, it was in
fact under the impact of the Revolution that the revolutionary spirit in America

The Reconstruction Of Power By Margaret Atwood
Haley Hollimon LTC Bozeman EN 102, L19 3 February 2015 The Reconstruction of Power
Throughout The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood utilizes various elements of fiction to develop
and question the concept of power and control in the patriarchal society of Gilead. Offred, the main
Handmaid, is the instrument of which Atwood delivers her message about corruption and power.
Offred s vague diction, unreliable characterization, and erratic tone illustrate the distress of this
transitional society (Abcarian 1403 1404). In the beginning of Chapter 23, the role of memory in
the novel expands, and the readers test the narrator s creditability. Offred concludes that all of her
memories are reconstructions , and that she will continue this practice even if she escapes Gilead.
She continues to relate fluid memories to forgiveness and forgiveness to an unnaturally complacent
and obedient population (Atwood 134 135). Identifying a powerful relationship between memories,
forgiveness, and power, Offred suggests that the main source of Gilead s totalitarian power is the
regime s ability to manipulate its citizens will to forgive past transgressions. Reconstruction is the
underlying theme of Offred s speech in the beginning of Chapter 23. The term reconstruction
denotes complete destruction of the old to usher in a new. Interestingly, Chapter 23 is in a section
labeled Birth Day . The section name further illustrates the theme of reconstruction, for both words
symbolize new beginnings

Summary Of The Night
He drifted in and out of sleep throughout the night. His mind plagued with what ifs. There had to
be a way to compromise, as he had with the druids. However, there was so much fear instilled
prejudice against magic users that even the peaceful nomads still faced persecution within various
parts of his kingdom. He recalled the old woman whom he and Merlinhad saved from the pyre in
her village. The one who had given him the Horn of Cathbhadh. He knew nothing about her or
what she had been accused of, but he d taken the ancient, magical object. Even after being warned,
he d still used it without regard for the laws of magic and bringing about near disastrous
consequence.
Leon had been correct when he told Arthur that the laws couldn t be changed because of people
like Morgana. What would Arthur have done if he had the gift of magic? Would he have been as
bad as his sister, or his father? It had been over eight years since he d followed the sorceress
Morgause to the ruined temple and met his mother. Or, was it just a trick of magic? To this day, he
wasn t certain if the words the ghost had spoken were true. If it hadn t been for Merlin, Arthur
would have killed his own father for his own use of magic to create an heir that killed his queen.
Although Arthur didn t think that Uther had intentionally agreed, knowing the end result, it still
gave Arthur pause to wonder about magic.
Then, there was Merlin. He warned Arthur that his life would be in danger without the

Black Worms Lab
There are two main types of toxicity, acute and chronic. Acute toxicity refers to a relatively high
dose of a toxin given over a short period of time. Chronic toxicity is a relatively low dose of a
toxin given over a longer time period. Acute toxicity is measured by the Lethal Dose 50 (LD50).
LD50 is the dose of a specific substance that kills 50% of test organisms, and it varies from
substance to substance. Toxin severity is due to intrinsic, within the body, and extrinsic, outside of
the body, factors. When determining the effect of a toxin on an organism, it is important to
compare the behavior of the organism exposed to a toxin to that of the same type of organism
when not exposed to a toxin. California Black worms are a North American... Show more content on

Adoption of Ifrs in Australia
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are an international set of accounting
standards. Early in the 21st century, the Australian Accounting Standards board, with guidance from
the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), decided to implement IFRS s throughout Australia. This
decision was made so that Australia could participate and contribute to the development of a
distinct set of accounting standards that could be used all around the world. This report will explore
the process of setting standards in Australia, the effects it can have on interest groups, and the way
in which the introduction of IFRS would change the way Australian accountants report their
financial position. The setting of accounting standards is a political... Show more content on

This includes public sector entities, certain non listed companies such as large companies, as
well as not for profit organisations such as charities. There are minor differences between the
IFRS and A IFRS, for example, differences in wording to accommodate the Australian legislative
environment, as well as additional disclosures, and additional requirements for not for profit
entities. (Deloitte, 2005, A IFRS vs. IFRS). Process of Setting Standards I believe that the
process of setting standards, both in Australia, and on an international level, is a political
process. It involves politics to a great extent in a number of ways. For example, politics are
involved during the standard setting process, as the groups involved are all government groups
which are statutory bodies under various acts, this is politics. The affects that the standards have
on stakeholders in Australian companies as well as the economy as a whole, is also linked to
politics. The FRC advises the Australian government on the process in which accounting
standards are set, as well as advising the direction in which the AASB will head. The AASB is
responsible for standard setting in Australia. Although the FRC can provide the AASB with
strategic directions, it does not have the power to directly force the AASB to create or amend a
specific standard. The FRC is also responsible for appointing the members of the AASB,

Are Sports Good For Children
Some think that sports are good for children because they help with making friends and it helps
they children with school and their grades. But, others think that it is a bad thing for children
some people say that it costs too much or they don t want the risk of getting injured. This is an
issue that needs to be solved. Should we let children play sports or should they not.? Some sports
put s too much pressure on some youths and injuries are at high risks to happen to youths. One
reason that sports are negative because a lot of pressure goes onto the children and most injuries
happen during some youth sports. In the article Listening to Wisdom From a 10 Year Old Boy

they don t think they are good or they don t think that they are skinny enough. And that they just

when it comes to sports and it needs to be taking seriously, if they have never had one before
they would not know what if will feel like. It is clear that some sports are good for youths but
most sports aren t, since it causes injuries some most sports cause too much pressure. The reason
that the evidence and the claim are important because it explains what is the good and bad parts of

Walmart Global Strategy
Wal Mart s Painful Lessons by Matthew Boyle Thursday, October 15, 2009 Having grown in fits
and starts, Wal Mart s international unit has a new game plan. Can it master world markets? It s
rare that a $100 billion business can be marginalized, but such is the case with the international arm
of Wal Mart Stores (WMT). As a standalone company, it would rank among the top five global
retailers. Inside the $401 billion retail giant, though, the business has traditionally received short
shrift. Its Bentonville (Ark.) headquarters is underwhelming a drab, largely windowless, one story
structure named after Bill Mitchell, a former Walmart executive whom nobody seems to remember.

Women Across The World Encounter Stereotypes
Women across the world encounter stereotypes. In the United States, our biggest stereotype has to
do with women s physical appearance, it is frowned upon to be overweight and to have curves. The
United States is seen as a modern country and the idea of a domestic household during the upraise
of the Feminist Movement during the 1960s 70s. That is the struggle that India is going through
currently. Instead of going with the wave of the new movement towards modernization, half of the
country is oppressing it and the other half is embracing it. The World Before Her is a documentary
over the two separate paths of two young women that are at the heart of the transitioning of their
country. One young womanhas hopes to become a model and win the nationally known pageant
Miss India which is equivalent to Miss America. The second young woman is the exact
opposite. She is tomboyish, she will kill to keep her countries values as well as train other
young girls to hold the same values as she does. The documentary was made to target the eye of
people like you and I, it is a prime example of the best of both worlds. The people of India may
benefit from seeing this film because it shows how their country is struggling with the preservation
of their culture but on the other hand, Americans may feel offended because the Indians that are
interviewed make it seem as though being modern is a bad thing. Modernization is not a bad thing,
without it, people will not be able to adapt to their

Oozing Hegemonic Masculinity in the Super Bowl Commercials
Many of us watch the Super Bowl to check out what we expect to be the most innovative and
entertaining commercials of the year. Given the grand stage on which these commercials air, it is
important that we analyze them in their proper context. Remember, this is a sporting event, one in
which only men are allowed to participate (as athletes/coaches), where violent collisions are
celebrated, and where most of the audience is male. Considering these gendered parameters, we
should not be surprised that many of the 2012 Super Bowl commercials ooze hegemonic
masculinity. In this post David Mayeda explores how a masculinity can be used to opress men and
women alike.
Back in 1987, Raewyn Connell coined the term hegemonic masculinity in a seminal text, Gender
Power. Hegemonic masculinity refers to the dominant form of masculinity that exists within a
particular culture. Relative to this ever changing, idealized form of masculinity are different
subordinated masculinities those within a culture that do not live up to the so called masculine
gold standard. Put simply, there are real men and then there are all other men.
In watching the 2012 Super Bowl commercials, we can see versions of hegemonic masculinity
demonstrated. Perhaps the most vivid version was seen in H M s Super Bowl ad, utilizing soccer
(futbol) star, David Beckham:
Tattooed, rugged, athletic, showcasing a lean musculature and menacing glare, Beckham embodies
a hegemonic masculinity that would surely resonate

Indentured Servants During The New World
Indentured servants came to America from Europe in search of land, work, increased wages,
and religious freedom. However, the colonies expanded so rapidly, labor became scarce. This
led to a greater import of Europeans willing to begin a new life in the New World, in exchange
for their servitude for a contracted period (O Brien Sparrow, 2014). When labor contracts ended
and freed servants received their land, servitude needed to continue with farms and business
operation. With scarce labor, Indians became the new target. Captured and forced into servitude
by colonials, the Indians filled the gaps in the colonial workforce to repay debt. The Indians
eventually revolted and went on murderous adventures against the white man, leading to the
expulsion of slave labor trade and outlawing independent trading in the Southeastern states (Shi
Tindall, 2012). Need for Indentured Servitude While colonies were growing at a rapid rate, they
outgrew the labor force. As an incentive to increase the population of the newly developed
settlements and increase the colonial expansion, individuals were offered an opportunity to work
in exchange for land (Watson, 2014). Servants were sold to land owners for a limited number of
years, to be used as labor and then set free (O Brien Sparrow, 2014). Once tobacco farming
became the main source of riches, plantations grew larger and more abundant, resulting in a need
for additional labor. While servants were offered land in exchange

The more reliable Herodotus said Cyrus was of partly Median and that a Median king Astyages,
overlord of the Persians, gave his daughter Mandane to his Persian serf Cambyses, rather than one
of his Medes that were held in high prestige. He did this because he had a dream where his
daughter said she hated him and his kingdom. Herodotus said he kept on having dreams like this
and when he heard Cyrus was born ordered one of his officers Harpagus to kill the child. Other
accounts say he had dreams that Cyrus would one day overthrow him and that s why he ordered
him killed. Harpagus didn t have the heart to kill the child and then hid him in the mountains
with herdsmen, who agreed to take care of him. Astyages then had Harpagus son butchered,
jointed the body and then served it dressed in mutton to Harpagus. At the age of 10 Cyrus was
found but Astyages was persuaded to let Cyrus live. In 559 B.C. He Cyrus rose to the thrown of
Anshan and began to show signs of independence from his Median overlord. When Cyrus became
a man Harpagus convinced him to lead the Persians to revolt against Astyages. In 553 B.C.

fought savagely. When it was seen that surrender was inevitable, the women even took the

Latin American Identity Essay
The contemporary application of the term Hispanic is a prime example of imperial erasure and re
identification of indigenous peoples to the Americas with their colonizers. Those referred to as
Hispanic are designated as tied to Spain or the Spanish language, but may be of any race, ethnicity,

like Latinx that denote origins in the region of Latin America. Many people of mixed native and

Their practice of human sacrifice was brutal at the very least, but served a purpose in the grand
scheme of their hegemony. They dominated neighboring nations and sacrificed prisoners of
war, believing that the source of all life, the sun, would die unless it were fed with human blood
(xxxviii xxxix). A strong component of the Nahua identity was this status as a military power in
present day central Mexico, reinforced by an education system in which fathers vowed to send
their sons to school to be taught the fundamentals of religion and ethics, and were also trained in
the arts of war (xlv). This identity was challenged when the Spaniards arrived with alien
technology such as metal armor, cannons, and arquebuses. The Aztec Empire exhibited a class
system consisting of land owning nobles, the middle class divided into familial clans, a class of
slaves and indentured servants, and a body of wise men who served as religious scholars (xlii).

World Is Flat Essay
The phrase: the world is flat can be interpreted in many ways. Basically what Friedman means by
flat is linked. The falling of trade and political barriers and technical advances have made it
possible to do business, instantaneously with billions of other people around the world. It has
allowed for parts of the world, which had previously been cut off, like China and India, to
successfully compete in the world market. Thus, the playing field is being leveled, and no one
nation has an advantage. Friedman could also refer to a flat world in a metaphorical sense. In a

Narrative Essay About A Soccer Game
I happened to be on the outdoor sandy field experiencing different mixed emotions as I saw
people with several facial expressions at the end of the big soccer game. It was exhausting and
unforgiving game that got some players injured, and caused the bad sportsmanship to take place
between the coaches, players, and fans. Our fans and our rival s fans fought each other, and they
threw stuff across the stadium as if they were dealing with a gigantic wild animal. Some of the
playerscouldn t fully focus on their soccer match due to their divided attention, and some of
them were terrified by the fan s unnecessary acts. Whenever I think about this moment, I cry and
smile at the same time because we finally understood the meaning of fair play of soccer, and
happy ending of our game occurred as a result of that. I knew before the game that the
unsportsmanlike conduct would happen, it really did as I thought, but besides our soccer game s
dirty side, it appeared to be more captivating by the way it was played than any other game. I
believe that there were three causes for the ungentlemanly behavior that we faced during the
tournament. Both my team and the rival team fought to death in order to win the important soccer
league because neither of the teams made it to the final game before. They always face each other
during the knockout games which made them rivals. Finally, the beauty of the game also had an
effect for why the match took place to be played dirty.

1984, is a book that was published in 1949 and written by George Orwell. His reason for writing
the book was the hope that humans would read it and come to a realization that our world was

first world countries might say that he was wrong, but those smart enough know just how right he
was. These terrifying places are very much real in the world today. The people living in these

Maybe it has to do with their early life, for example, Niyazov being orphaned starting from a very
young age after the death of most of his mother and father ( Obituary: Saparmurat Niyazov ).
Perhaps though, it has nothing to do with our upbringing, and maybe it only our internal hunger
for power is to blame. Whichever way that created a person as monstrous as Niyazov, definitely
created something huge. During Niyazov s rule he controlled everything he possibly could.
Controlling the minds of his people was his specialty. Forcing them to have the will to change
their beliefs, their routines, their individuality, was one of the reasons Niyazov succeeded in

dent in my program, but I guess two out of three isn t too bad plus my dad always said look on
the bright side of things, so that s what I was trying to do.
AS I continued to walk to the store I stop letting the rain annoy me and started to embrace my
father words as I took a look at my neighborhood and realize that I was that much closer to
graduating college with my AA degree in Psychology and look forward to joining the workforce
and getting out of this horrible mini war zone.

Evidence-Based Incentives
Summary:
Lifestyle and behavior among adults has been the topic of major concern in the recent years.
Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors have the potential to exacerbate chronic conditions like
cardiovascular diseases, stroke, elevated blood pressure levels, diabetes, and obesity. Substantial
improvements in behavior and lifestyle of individuals can help curb these high rates of obesity and
avoid devastating effects caused by chronic health problems. Among the options available,
evidence based studies suggest that providing financial incentives could be a better way to
encourage change towards sustainable healthy behaviors. These include providing discounts on
premiums, co insurance or deductibles, providing large amount or rewards for reaching the
targeted health outcome. But these have proven to be beneficial only for short term and only for
certain groups of individuals. In order to increase the likelihood of long term success on the path to
health and wellness, I recommend the policy should consider providing progress based incentives,
and long term targeted incentives for specific high risk individuals.
Background:
Recent reports by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that more than two
thirds of adults and one third of youth in the United States are obese (Ogden, C. L., et al, 2014).
Increased rates of obesity are mainly responsible for serious health problems, rising health care
costs, and rapidly decreasing health outcomes. The escalating rates of

How Self Regulation Impacts Resilience
General
These papers were chosen as they provide insight into how self regulation impacts resilience. As
resilience is a broad topic, these papers provide insight into self regulation can benefit a variety of
areas including neurological, epidemiological and how they can be implemented in therapeutic real
world interventions.
Socioeconomic Status
Buckner, J. C., Mezzacappa, E., Beardslee, W. R. (2003). Characteristics of resilient youths living
in poverty: The role of self regulatory processes. Development and psychopathology, 15(01), 139
162.
This article is a cross sectional study that examines the extent to which self regulatory skills
occur in resilient versus non resilient youth. Along with the cross sectional method, the study
also has a person focused approach allowing for a more holistic approach, though a variable
focused approach is used when examining resilience to produce empirical results. It employs a
variety of tests to measure the wide range of factors from prevalence of clinical disorders, such as
anxiety, to the impact of chronic stressors, and competence in tasks required in daily life, within
the developmental status of the individual. The study recognizes its limitations in determining
causality due to the cross sectional nature of the study, as well as possible under reporting on
topics such as history of abuse. The study takes into consideration a wide variety of factors
appropriate to a topic as broad as resilience, including socioeconomic

Reducing Costs through Production and Supply Chain Management by Vinod Lall
Executive Summary
There are numerous drivers of production and the supply chain, and there are several processes
under each driver. These processes are associated with high overheads and offer opportunities for
cost reduction. Cost reduction requires a complete knowledge and mapping of all costs, cycle
times, purchases, inventories, suppliers, customers, logistics, and other service providers
throughout the supply chain. Cost reduction in the supply chain often requires trade off analysis
amongst conflicting alternatives using the total cost approach. Successfully achieving supply chain
cost savings requires the use of cross functional teams with representation ... Show more content on

These include component commonality, component modularity, and postponement. Component
commonality: The principle of component commonality focuses on the design and use of common
components for families of products. When there are a large number of products in a supply chain,
the inventory of components will naturally be large. Component commonality calls for the use of
common components in a variety of products. This reduces costs not only by reducing inventory
cost but also through reduced material cost, reduced production cost, and reduced product
obsolescence. For example, a computer manufacturer can design common components such as
memory and disk drives and use different combinations of these components to produce different
finished products. Component modularity: The principle of component modularity recommends
that common subsystems be designed as modules to meet a broad range of feature requirements.
This reduces the number of components that must be produced, kept in materials and repair parts
inventory, and integrated into the product during the production process. This reduces procurement,
manufacturing, and inventory costs, leading to a lower supply chain cost. Manufacturers of
electronic products, for example, use the principle of modularity to design and assemble printers,
computers, and so on. Postponement: Postponement means delaying the bringing of products into
their final form until close to the point of

The Importance Of Checking Tire Pressure
Summer is here and that means lots of families are hitting the road! Whether you re going on a
weekend trip to see family or taking a cross country road trip, having a reliable and well
maintained vehicle will make your trip safer and more fun. When you purchase a used vehicle
from ABC MotorCredit, you can rest assured that your vehicle is dependable and that you ll be
supported if you run into any trouble. Before you hit the road this summer, take care of these
simple tasks to keep your vehicle running smoothly.
Check your tire pressure
Maintaining proper tire pressure is vital to the functioning of your car. Correctly inflated tires are
safer and help you get the best gas mileage possible. Figure out the correct amount of air to put in
your tires by looking on the side of the tire or in your vehicle handbook. Next, use a tire gauge to
check the actual pressure. Make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having emergency supplies can make the experience much easier. A basic emergency kit for a
vehicle should contain a jack for changing a tire, jumper cables, basic tools in a variety of sizes
(screwdrivers, wrench, pliers, etc), roadside flares, a tire gauge, and a flashlight with extra
batteries. Other supplies that may be useful include two quarts of oil, a gallon of antifreeze, extra
fuses, a tire inflator, duct tape, a funnel for adding fluids, and rags or paper towels. These types
of supplies can hopefully enable you to get your car moving until you reach the nearest town or
service station. Don t forget to also pack supplies for your passengers! Bottled water, granola or
energy bars, a first aid kit, blankets, and supplies for children, the elderly, or ill family members
may be the difference between life and death in the event of an accident. Lastly, make sure you
include a list of emergency contact numbers such as roadside assistance and your insurance agent as
well as any relevant account

Jennifer Heap Research Paper
She s not your traditional author by any means, but her work could be be considered poetry. A
solo artist known for the group Frou Frou and her song Hide and Seek , meet my favorite author,
Imogen Jennifer Heap. Born December 9, 1977 in Essex, Imogen Heap for the most part is self
taught and is a huge success. Imogen defied the unwritten rule of solo acts by instead of making
a name for herself in a group then leaving to do their own thing, Imogen did the opposite. She
was born in the rural part of Essex to a businessman and a future art therapist. 12 years after
Imogen was born, her parents divorced. At the young age of 13, Heap could already play piano,
cello, and clarinet. She attended the Quaker Friends School and there she self taught herself how
to produce music on Atari computers after she could not get along with her music teacher. At 16,
she wanted to produce orchestral music. As part of her studies, she recorded pop demos that
caught the attention of managers that believed she should go into the studio. In 1996, Heap
began working with an experimental pop band called Acacia. She was never a real member of the
band, just a guest vocalist. One of the band members would play an important part in the future,
and one of Acacia s songs will pop up later on.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was received very well, but it that was ended due to Universal taking over and discontinuing
her contract. Later on, she and Guy Sigsworth who was a member of Acacia went on to form the
musical group Frou Frou. They released their only album Details in 2002. The album featured one
of Acacia s songs, Maddening Shroud , which was covered by Frou Frou. Their song Let Go was
featured in the Garden State soundtrack and the duo picked up popularity, but unfortunately only
after the two disbanded because of yet again, the contract was

William Dean Howells Influence On American Writing
William Dean Howells was an American novelist and critic who significantly influenced the
American society and the literature world in the 19th and 20th century America. Born on March
1st, 1837 in Ohio, Howells became a writer at a young age. Howells is best known for his realist
writings that focused on depicting the lives of the middle class Americans. His realist novels
often depict the social issues in post Civil War America. Howells is considered as the father of
realism and is recognized as a major American writer who was a contributor to American
literature (William Dean Howells). I believed William Dean Howells should be considered as a
major American writer. First, Howells had a lifetime experience with writings. Influenced by
his father who was a journalist, Howells began his career as a writer at a young age. Although
Howells never had much education, his experiences in writing sharpened his skills. Howells first
poem was published in 1852 in the Ohio State Journal (Baym 374). Until his death, William Dean
Howells had published over 50 novels and poems. His experiences as a writer led him to become
successful and an undefeatable figure in the field of literature. Secondly, William Dean Howells was

Vedder described Howells as a self made man who have risen to eminence without that training in
the schools generally regarded as indispensable (Vedder 44). Howells followed his own path and
intentions of writings, ...Mr.Howells is easily the first living American novelist. We cannot deny
him the praise of being faithful to his own ideal, of practising diligently his own canons of art. He
himself tells us, with great earnestness and frequent iteration, that he utterly contemns and rejects
the notion that the novel should aim merely to entertain (Vedder 67). Vedder admires Howells
terrific passion over his works and his stubbornness of sticking to his own

  • 2. The Emancipation Of Slave Trade Yi Zhong Instructor s Name Course Title June 6 2016 The emancipation of slave trade in Britain Introduction Within two decades, Britain had made decisive actions to abolish the transatlantic slave trade, and this made the emancipation of trade emerge as one of the most significant reform movements that took place in the 18th and 19th centuries. In July 1833, the British parliament abolished slave buying and selling through the passing of a Bill in the House of Commons and then in the House of Lords which abolished slave trade all through the British Empire. How this came into place has been largely debated and yet slave trade provided the British nation with money, employment, and luxurious commodities enriching the country. Interpretations of the British slave trade tends to be explained by the humanitarian or moral movements where emancipation campaigns were made by religious groups (Porter, 43). Another famous interpretation and which makes the focus of this paper is that emancipation of the slave trade was due to changes in economic interests. This paper argues that the emancipation of slave trade in British land and also on the colonial territories coincided with the periods of economic decline in the British Caribbean, and so emancipationist ideas came due to the growth of free labor ideologies and the factory system. The paper is going to argue this is basing on three texts; one is The Emancipation of Slavery: The British Debate by ReМЃvauger CeМЃcile focusing on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each of these categories are different with and affect people in certain ways. Single gene disorders, also called Mendelian disorders, are caused by a modification that occurs in one specific gene. An autosomal dominant defect occurs when there is an altered gene and a healthy gene that are inherited. • 4. Gospel Music As A Genre Of Christian Music Ever think about what the real definition of Gospel music is? Gospel music is a genre of Christian music. Gospel is the term used for the first four books of the New Testament, describing the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The word gospel means good news which is derived from the Greek word Оµ бЅђО±ОіОіОО»О№ОїОЅ. Gospel musicserves many purposes such as aesthetic pleasures and religious purposes and as an entertainment product for the market. Gospel music consists of a strong harmony and Christian lyrics. Gospel music became known around the 17t h century and rooted in the black tradition. Hand clapping and foot stomping are often associated when gospel music is playing. Most of the singing during that time was a cappella in other words with no music. The first use of the term Gospel Song was in 1874. Some of the original gospel songs were written and composed by autho rs such as George Root, William Howard Doane and Fanny Crosby. In the slavery era many slave owners did not allow slaves to use traditional african instruments , sing or play their native music. As a result many of the words and melodies were forgotten and vanished in North America. A new style of music emerged from this limitation. The church allowed many slaves to express their feelings through gospel songs. Many slaves were not allowed to attend but met secretly anyway. The best part about gospel music tradition was the use of a choir. The church choir members consisted of volunteer singers from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Eclipse Is An Open Source Integrated Development... Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse Yujia Xie I.Introduction Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of the most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in 2001, Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool for developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.). One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building classes. For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was designed specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that would later benefit the performance of Eclipse. Eclipse provide an environment that individual users can manipulate the framework to facilitate their daily work. Like most of the open source software, originally, Eclipse was written by a group of paid, full time developer, setting up the fundamental structure at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It will set an example to the child that they are willing to work hard for a better life. Education is the single most important element for the child to work hard in school to acquire a life style they deserve. As a single parent this person continually sacrifices their own needs to meet the needs of the child. In most cases the child will not see the big picture, and this is not their job to worry about their next meal or where they will live. Refinancing Your Student Loans Refinancing your student loans means that a private lender is essentially buying your Federal student loans, paying them off, and creating a new loan that it will lend to you on new, original terms. The new terms of your refinanced loan will be based off your credit reports, credit score, and other requirements. The new private loan terms include, among other things, a new interest rate and potentially a new term (the length of time over which you have to repay your loan). For example, you could take your Federal student loans that have a 10 year term and refinance them into one private loan for 20 years. For example, I m a trained corporate attorney with student loan debt. If I was unable to extend the term of my loan from 10 years to 25 years, then I probably wouldn t have been able to switch career paths to a financial planner because I had to take a significant pay cut to make the move. Because I was able to extend the term of my loan and make lower monthly payments, I have much greater job and career flexibility. When your monthly student loan payment is lower, you have more options because your debt doesn t play as significant of a role in your monthly expenses. Example of extending your student loan term Assume Amy has $45,000 in Federal student loan debt at 6.0% interest rate on a 10 year, standard repayment plan. Amy decides to refinance her loans to private loans to get a lower interest rate. Amy and her lender agree to a new loan with a principal balance of $45,000 at a 4.0% interest rate for a period of 25 years. Using a simple amortization calculator, I came up with the following calculations: Amy s term: 25 years (2015 2040) Amy s monthly payments: $237.53 Total repaid: $71,257.97 Amy pays $16,585.60 more in her total amount repaid by extending her term from 10 years to 25 years (see the example below), but her monthly ... • 13. The Use of Compulsory Licensing as a Policy to Combat the... This paper examines the use of compulsory licensing as a policy to combat the monopoly problem associated with the patent system. It introduces the notion of an optimal patent one where the patent life and the licensing royalty rate are both determined optimally. Under certain simplifying assumptions it is shown that the optimal patentwill have an indefinite life, for both process and product innovations. Some preliminary calculations suggest that the use of compulsory licensing may lead to substantial welfare improvements, even if the patent life is left unchanged at 17 years. India has put in place a patent regime that allows the grant of patents for both products and processes for all eligible inventions. The changes made in 1999, 2002 and 2005 have been ostensibly to comply with its WTO ob ligations on intellectual property. How ever, an analysis of the changes suggests that there were some in Indian industry and government who believed that stronger patent protection, even beyond what is required under India s international obligations, will attract local R D as well as foreign direct investment. It is universally recognized in patent laws that an invention must meet the triple criteria of novelty, inventive step (or be non obvious) and industrial applicability (or utility) in order to be granted a patent. • 15. Social Movement In Australia Behind every successful social movement is a well executed and planned system and strategy. One of the most common frameworks of social change is Saul Alinsky s Community Organising, which is where another common framework known as Feminist Organising developed from. These frameworks remain relevant today, and more specifically Feminist Organising in relation to a rape culture on Australian university campuses. To be able to fully compare and contrast the two frameworks, it is important to understand their backgrounds. Saul Alinsky, the founder of Community Organising , began his long organising career in the late 1930 s in Chicago s Back of the Yards neighbourhood (Hancock, 2017). It was here that he took the ideas of unions and spoke to leaders to expand the systems and strategies to help organise disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods nationwide (Stall Stoecker, 1998). Reflective Essay They Say I Say The writer starts off with stating the progression of the They Say I Say novel, explaining that once you read and interpreted the opposing argument, we move onto developing our own argument. One thing the writer did bring up was the consensus of how people would respond to having to write your own argument. Bottom line, we all believe we don t know how to do it nor feel confident enough to interject our own opinion. What we don t realize is we actually can. My favorite line was that good arguments are not based on more knowledge about the topic but rather how you can get to the main topic of the issue at hand and then address it. The writer follows with three main ways to respond to other s arguments which are agreeing, disagreeing or both combined. These points can help avoid an argument being dragged out or as the saying goes beating around the bush . Identifying where you stand in your argument can actually make your argument stronger. The notion of freedom is possible among equals, however, equality itself is universally different. Arendt, a political theorist, believes political freedom manifests through action, her reliance on the ability to act implies that humans can tangibly live freely. Epictetus on the other hand, believes that all humans can be internally free if they had a stoic mindset in their way of life. He believes that human beings are in complete control of their happiness and should only worry about what they can control instead of what they cannot. The revolutionary treasure is the original spirit of individual freedom that has been lost through the principles of public freedom and public happiness. Freedom as Epictetus defines is an internal condition that only we ourselves possess control over, his stoic recommendation offers a simple yet rational approach of living life freely. Public opinion suffocates the original spirit of the revolutionary treasure because public opinion provokes a common opposition, thus killing true personal opinions of American citizens. • 22. The Reconstruction Of Power By Margaret Atwood Haley Hollimon LTC Bozeman EN 102, L19 3 February 2015 The Reconstruction of Power Throughout The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood utilizes various elements of fiction to develop and question the concept of power and control in the patriarchal society of Gilead. Offred, the main Handmaid, is the instrument of which Atwood delivers her message about corruption and power. Offred s vague diction, unreliable characterization, and erratic tone illustrate the distress of this transitional society (Abcarian 1403 1404). In the beginning of Chapter 23, the role of memory in the novel expands, and the readers test the narrator s creditability. Offred concludes that all of her memories are reconstructions , and that she will continue this practice even if she escapes Gilead. She continues to relate fluid memories to forgiveness and forgiveness to an unnaturally complacent and obedient population (Atwood 134 135). Identifying a powerful relationship between memories, forgiveness, and power, Offred suggests that the main source of Gilead s totalitarian power is the regime s ability to manipulate its citizens will to forgive past transgressions. Reconstruction is the underlying theme of Offred s speech in the beginning of Chapter 23. The term reconstruction denotes complete destruction of the old to usher in a new. Interestingly, Chapter 23 is in a section labeled Birth Day . The section name further illustrates the theme of reconstruction, for both words symbolize new beginnings ... • 30. Oozing Hegemonic Masculinity in the Super Bowl Commercials Many of us watch the Super Bowl to check out what we expect to be the most innovative and entertaining commercials of the year. Given the grand stage on which these commercials air, it is important that we analyze them in their proper context. Remember, this is a sporting event, one in which only men are allowed to participate (as athletes/coaches), where violent collisions are celebrated, and where most of the audience is male. Considering these gendered parameters, we should not be surprised that many of the 2012 Super Bowl commercials ooze hegemonic masculinity. In this post David Mayeda explores how a masculinity can be used to opress men and women alike. Back in 1987, Raewyn Connell coined the term hegemonic masculinity in a seminal text, Gender Power. Hegemonic masculinity refers to the dominant form of masculinity that exists within a particular culture. Relative to this ever changing, idealized form of masculinity are different subordinated masculinities those within a culture that do not live up to the so called masculine gold standard. Put simply, there are real men and then there are all other men. In watching the 2012 Super Bowl commercials, we can see versions of hegemonic masculinity demonstrated. Perhaps the most vivid version was seen in H M s Super Bowl ad, utilizing soccer (futbol) star, David Beckham: Tattooed, rugged, athletic, showcasing a lean musculature and menacing glare, Beckham embodies a hegemonic masculinity that would surely resonate ... • 31. Indentured Servants During The New World Indentured servants came to America from Europe in search of land, work, increased wages, and religious freedom. However, the colonies expanded so rapidly, labor became scarce. This led to a greater import of Europeans willing to begin a new life in the New World, in exchange for their servitude for a contracted period (O Brien Sparrow, 2014). When labor contracts ended and freed servants received their land, servitude needed to continue with farms and business operation. With scarce labor, Indians became the new target. Captured and forced into servitude by colonials, the Indians filled the gaps in the colonial workforce to repay debt. The Indians eventually revolted and went on murderous adventures against the white man, leading to the expulsion of slave labor trade and outlawing independent trading in the Southeastern states (Shi Tindall, 2012). Need for Indentured Servitude While colonies were growing at a rapid rate, they outgrew the labor force. As an incentive to increase the population of the newly developed settlements and increase the colonial expansion, individuals were offered an opportunity to work in exchange for land (Watson, 2014). Servants were sold to land owners for a limited number of years, to be used as labor and then set free (O Brien Sparrow, 2014). During a routine vehicle inventory I located a small pink baggy containing a green leafy substance located in the center console directly between the driver and passenger seat. Additionally I located a glass pipe with a paper towel wrapped around one end. Within a cigarette box I located a small clear baggy containing a crystal like substance. A small portion of the contents of the pink baggy were tested on scene with a field presumptive kit which produced positive results for the presence of THC. • 43. Evidence-Based Incentives Summary: Lifestyle and behavior among adults has been the topic of major concern in the recent years. Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors have the potential to exacerbate chronic conditions like cardiovascular diseases, stroke, elevated blood pressure levels, diabetes, and obesity. Substantial improvements in behavior and lifestyle of individuals can help curb these high rates of obesity and avoid devastating effects caused by chronic health problems. Among the options available, evidence based studies suggest that providing financial incentives could be a better way to encourage change towards sustainable healthy behaviors. These include providing discounts on premiums, co insurance or deductibles, providing large amount or rewards for reaching the targeted health outcome. But these have proven to be beneficial only for short term and only for certain groups of individuals. In order to increase the likelihood of long term success on the path to health and wellness, I recommend the policy should consider providing progress based incentives, and long term targeted incentives for specific high risk individuals. Background: Recent reports by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that more than two thirds of adults and one third of youth in the United States are obese (Ogden, C. L., et al, 2014). Increased rates of obesity are mainly responsible for serious health problems, rising health care costs, and rapidly decreasing health outcomes. The escalating rates of ... As resilience is a broad topic, these papers provide insight into self regulation can benefit a variety of areas including neurological, epidemiological and how they can be implemented in therapeutic real world interventions. Socioeconomic Status Buckner, J. C., Mezzacappa, E., Beardslee, W. R. (2003). Characteristics of resilient youths living in poverty: The role of self regulatory processes. Development and psychopathology, 15(01), 139 162. This article is a cross sectional study that examines the extent to which self regulatory skills occur in resilient versus non resilient youth. Along with the cross sectional method, the study also has a person focused approach allowing for a more holistic approach, though a variable focused approach is used when examining resilience to produce empirical results. It employs a variety of tests to measure the wide range of factors from prevalence of clinical disorders, such as anxiety, to the impact of chronic stressors, and competence in tasks required in daily life, within the developmental status of the individual. The study recognizes its limitations in determining causality due to the cross sectional nature of the study, as well as possible under reporting on topics such as history of abuse. The study takes into consideration a wide variety of factors appropriate to a topic as broad as resilience, including socioeconomic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Grandparent s Speech in Hindi Reducing Costs through Production and Supply Chain Management by Vinod Lall Executive Summary There are numerous drivers of production and the supply chain, and there are several processes under each driver. These processes are associated with high overheads and offer opportunities for cost reduction. Cost reduction requires a complete knowledge and mapping of all costs, cycle times, purchases, inventories, suppliers, customers, logistics, and other service providers throughout the supply chain. Cost reduction in the supply chain often requires trade off analysis amongst conflicting alternatives using the total cost approach. Successfully achieving supply chain cost savings requires the use of cross functional teams with representation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These include component commonality, component modularity, and postponement. Component commonality: The principle of component commonality focuses on the design and use of common components for families of products. When there are a large number of products in a supply chain, the inventory of components will naturally be large. Component commonality calls for the use of common components in a variety of products. This reduces costs not only by reducing inventory cost but also through reduced material cost, reduced production cost, and reduced product obsolescence. For example, a computer manufacturer can design common components such as memory and disk drives and use different combinations of these components to produce different finished products. Component modularity: The principle of component modularity recommends that common subsystems be designed as modules to meet a broad range of feature requirements. This reduces the number of components that must be produced, kept in materials and repair parts inventory, and integrated into the product during the production process. This reduces procurement, manufacturing, and inventory costs, leading to a lower supply chain cost. Manufacturers of electronic products, for example, use the principle of modularity to design and assemble printers, computers, and so on. • 47. Jennifer Heap Research Paper She s not your traditional author by any means, but her work could be be considered poetry. A solo artist known for the group Frou Frou and her song Hide and Seek , meet my favorite author, Imogen Jennifer Heap. Born December 9, 1977 in Essex, Imogen Heap for the most part is self taught and is a huge success. Imogen defied the unwritten rule of solo acts by instead of making a name for herself in a group then leaving to do their own thing, Imogen did the opposite. She was born in the rural part of Essex to a businessman and a future art therapist. 12 years after Imogen was born, her parents divorced. At the young age of 13, Heap could already play piano, cello, and clarinet. She attended the Quaker Friends School and there she self taught herself how to produce music on Atari computers after she could not get along with her music teacher. At 16, she wanted to produce orchestral music. As part of her studies, she recorded pop demos that caught the attention of managers that believed she should go into the studio. In 1996, Heap began working with an experimental pop band called Acacia. She was never a real member of the band, just a guest vocalist. One of the band members would play an important part in the future, and one of Acacia s songs will pop up later on.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Howells is considered as the father of realism and is recognized as a major American writer who was a contributor to American literature (William Dean Howells). I believed William Dean Howells should be considered as a major American writer. First, Howells had a lifetime experience with writings. Influenced by his father who was a journalist, Howells began his career as a writer at a young age. Although Howells never had much education, his experiences in writing sharpened his skills. Howells first poem was published in 1852 in the Ohio State Journal (Baym 374). Until his death, William Dean Howells had published over 50 novels and poems.
