2. INTRODUCTION CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a group of disorders of the heart and blood
vessels and they include:
coronary heart disease – disease of the blood vessels supplying the heart
muscle;
cerebrovascular disease – disease of the blood vessels supplying the brain;
peripheral arterial disease – disease of blood vessels supplying the arms and
legs;
rheumatic heart disease – damage to the heart muscle and heart valves from
rheumatic fever, caused by streptococcal bacteria;
congenital heart disease – malformations of heart structure existing at birth;
deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism – blood clots in the leg veins,
which can dislodge and move to the heart and lungs.

4. TREATMENT
(DRUGS) 1.ALTENOLOL(50mg/100mg)

-BELONGS TO A CLASS OF DRUGS KNOWS AS BETA
BLOCKERS
-taken once daily(depends on hbp rate)
-TO TREAT HBP BY LOWERING THE HEART RATE
-PREVENT STROKES,HEART ATTACKS AND KIDNEY
PROBLEMS
b.Side effects
-dizziness
-nausea

5. 2.SIMVASTATIN(40mg/20mg)
a.Uses
-lower bad cholesterol in blood
-prevent strokes and heart attack
-taken once daily (before sleep)
b.Side effects
-dehydrated
-can cause diabetes

6. Glyceryl Trinitrate (50mg)
a.Uses
-relaxing blood vessels
-relieve the symptoms of heart failure
-used during or after heart surgery if there is an insufficient supply of
blood to the heart or to control high blood pressure.
-swallow under tongue
Side effects
-weak
-dizzy
-drop of bp

7. GINKGO (SUPPLEMENT)
a.Uses
-Anxiety. Research shows that taking a specific
ginkgo extract can reduce symptoms of anxiety
-help blood circulation
b.Side effects
-increase tendency of blood
