Passive House in CA, 2012

Top Ten Reasons

3
to Build ‘Passive House’
4
in California for 2012
5
6
“The Passive House movement shows us what's
possible with ultra-low-energy buildings. These
7
homes are pushing the envelope and creating an
invaluable collection of case studies that
8
demonstrate just how dramatically energy
9
consumption can be reduced--and how we can
meet the targets for carbon emission reductions
10
that are needed to slow global warming. It
provides metrics and a path for implementation.”

5: AB 32 (2020) and AIA 2030
2
3
AB 32 requires California to lower greenhouse
4
gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, the
5
equivalent of taking approximately 28 million
cars off the nation's roads. To meet reduction
6
targets, the California Air Resources Board
(CARB), the lead agency responsible for
7
implementing the act, is following a blueprint
8
approved in late 2008 known as the AB 32
Climate Change Scoping Plan. The plan lays out
9
the strategy and a comprehensive set of
10
actions including:
Expanding and strengthening energy
efficiency programs and building and
appliance standards.
