Warm up
Tag, whilst running, then jumping with left
leg, then right leg.
Stretching as a group.
Recap the technique of doing a scissors
kick to get over the bar.
Practice: Pupils practice on two mats,
split into boys and girls. Reinforce the key
points; and give feedback to individuals as
they do a jump as to what to improve next
time.
Teach: the technique of doing a Frosbee
Flop.
Key Points: SAME AS SCISSORS KICK;
i) big arch on the run up, to make sure you
are side on at the mat. ii) Jump with your
outside leg iii) drive up with the inside leg
and swing your arms up for power. THEN
DIFF. iv) Twist in the air so your back is
facing the bed. v) Arch your back vi) Flick
your legs over, landing on the top of your
back.

WILF:
Pupils to throw a javelin with
the basic technique.
Zone ball: two zones on either side of the
football field. One team tries to get the
ball into the zone, with someone catching
it to score a point, the other team trying to
do the same in the other zone. You can
only intercept the ball, not steal it. Focus
on pulling throw.
Recap: The safety aspect of throwing a
javelin. Reinforce the structure of
collecting and returning a javelin.
Key Points: i) Only throw and collect on
the instruction from the teacher:
‘THROW, COLLECT’ ii) Hold your hand
over the end of the javelin and pull
out/pick up the javelin iii) Walk back with
the javelin vertical at all times.
Learn: In groups of 2/3, one throws, then
when instructed the next person collects,
and gets ready to throw on the instruction
