Clippers are electronic circuits that use diodes to cut off portions of an input signal waveform without distorting the remaining signal. There is no single general procedure for analyzing clipper circuits. Key things to consider include identifying where the output voltage is defined, understanding how the voltage supplies affect conventional current direction through the diodes, and determining the transition voltage that causes the diodes to switch from off to on states. It can also help to draw the output waveform below the input waveform using the same horizontal and vertical axis scales.
