9. CHLAMYDIA
Most people who have chlamydia don’t
know it since the disease often has no
symptoms.
Chlamydia is the most commonly reported
STD in the United States.
Sexually active females 25 years old and
younger need testing every year.
Although it is easy to cure, chlamydia can
make it difficult for a woman to get
pregnant if left untreated
The center for control and disease
prevention stated that chlamydia is a
common STD that can infect both men and
women. It can cause serious, permanent
damage to a woman's reproductive system,
making it difficult or impossible for her to
get pregnant later on. Chlamydia can also
cause a potentially fatal ectopic pregnancy

10. GONORRHEA

Gonorrehea is an infection caused by a
kind of bacteria that is passed during
sexual contact. It can infect the penis,
vagina, cervix, anus, urethra, or throat.
Sometimes it is called "the clap" or "the
drip."
Gonorrhea can be a serious health risk if it
is not treated. It affects more than 800,000
women and men in the United States every
year. Often, gonorrhea has no symptoms. Most
people are not aware that they have the
infection — especially women.
Four out of five women with gonorrhea
have no gonorrhea symptoms.
One out of 10 men with gonorrhea has no
gonorrhea symptoms.
If you do get gonorrhea symptoms, they
may begin in as little as 1–14 days after
you got the infection.

11. GENITAL HERPES
According to Medicinenet.com Genital herpes is
a sexually transmitted disease caused by
herpes simplex virus (HSV).
HSV causes genital herpes by entering the skin
or mucous membranes through microscopic
breaks in the skin and mucous membranes.
Genital herpes is transmitted by any type of
sexual contact with the genital area.
When symptoms are present, they may include
painful blisters and/or ulcers in the genital
area, itching, burning or tingling sensations in
the skin and some individuals may
develop fever, body aches and swollen lymph
nodes; symptoms come and go over the
person's lifetime.

12. HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration stated that HPV
(human papillomavirus) is a sexually transmitted virus. It
is passed on through genital contact (such as vaginal
and anal sex). It is also passed on by skin-to-skin
contact. At least 50% of people who have had sex will
have HPV at some time in their lives. HPV is not a new
virus. But many people don't know about it. Most
people don't have any signs. HPV may go away on
its own-- without causing any health problems.

may have HPV. Both men and women may get it -- and pass it

many sex partners, or
a sex partner who has had many partners.
If there are no signs, why do I need to worry about HPV?
There are over 100 different kinds of HPV and not all of them
cause health problems. Some kinds of HPV may cause
problems like genital warts. Some kinds of HPV can also
cause cancer of the cervix, vagina, vulva, or anus. Most of
these problems are caused by types 6, 11, 16 or 18.

14. SYPHILLIS
According to the New York Times Syphilis is a sexually
transmitted, infectious disease caused by the
spirochete Treponema pallidum . This bacterium causes
infection when it gets into broken skin or mucus
membranes, usually of the genitals. Syphilis is most often
transmitted through sexual contact, although it also can be
transmitted in other ways.
Syphilis occurs worldwide. Syphilis is more common in
urban areas, and the number of cases is rising fastest in
men who have sex with men. Young adults ages 15 - 25
are the highest-risk population. People have no natural
resistance to syphilis.
Because people may be unaware that they are infected
with syphilis, many states require tests for syphilis before
marriage. All pregnant women who receive prenatal care
should be screened for syphilis to prevent the infection
from passing to their newborn (congenital syphilis).
