- This morning you all thought through what your why is- why you LeadMN. The best way for us to communicate that why and inspire change is to tell our personal stories. Stories communicate our values and they build a bridge between us and our audience to drive change. To set us up for success this year as we advocate for change in our state, in our system, and on our campuses we are going to build our stories today.
- To help you develop your story, use these questions to have a discussion in your group about what story you will tell. Draw upon the why you developed yesterday and start flushing it out. The purpose of this discussion is to start talking through the story you want to tell and discover what that is.
- Now that you have an idea of what you want to say I want you to boil it down to one sentence. Write this sentence on one of your post-it notes and keep it in front of you. You will use this to guide your story. Think of it like a thesis to a paper.
- We want to think about who we will be talking to when we tell our story. This will help us tell a more moving story that connects with them. You will break down in your groups- who your audience is, what their needs are, and what you want to achieve by telling your story. This could be different for each of you based on who you want to move with your story.
