Personal Past Educational Experience
My own personal past educational experience to date has been a learning journey for me. Before I
became a nurse I started out as a Certified Nursing Assistant I then shortly after that I obtained my
CNA II. I worked as a CNA while in school until I was accepted into a nursing program. First, I
obtained my Licensed Practical Nursing degree then obtained my Associate Degree Nursing. I feel
that each journey from becoming a CNA to a LPN then an RN helped prepare me with a basic
foundation in education and training for each journey. With each journey the education went more
in–depth and in–detail than the previous. Education is learning theory no matter if you have a
foundation on the subject or learning it from scratch. In my training, I feel that with each higher
education level I was trained for more complex skills. When you train to learn new skills you learn
to do something instead of knowing how to do it. In my personal opinion I believe that you put your
education to use with your skills which helps ensure safe and effective practice in any profession. In
this day and age with the evolving technology and nursing innovation, it is imperative for a nurse to
keep up their skill level and purse education to keep up with one's profession or for advancement. ...

The main difference between the BSN to RN is that the BSN offers more opportunities for faster
career movement and advancement or become an educator. Many hospitals want more BSN's in
order to achieve or maintain "Magnet Status" or specialty certifications. That is one of the reasons I
am pursuing my BSN since where I am employed is a Magnet hospital. I believe that in the near
future, the minimum requirement for entry level nursing will be a BSN. By having a BSN, I hope it
will assure for a job/career and may provide job

Interview With My Educational Experiences
I began Mrs. Chambers' interview with the first background question, like in the first two
interviews, tell me about your educational experiences in school. Mrs. Chambers' responded:
I attended College Station, Texas public schools. My elementary school years were challenging. I
remember in first and second grade I struggled in reading. My mother was a single parent who
worked at night but she always made sure I completed my homework and read every night. It
seemed as if I just couldn't catch up with my peers even in a small group setting. I always felt like
my teachers didn't push me enough or have high expectations from me because of my inability to
read as well as my peers. I knew I could read but I felt that she didn't give me the strategies that
would assist me in reading and comprehending what I've read. I loved math because it was always
hands on. Finally, in third grade I met a teacher who realized that I needed a special program in
order to be on the same level as my peers. I remember being in a pull out program and enjoying
every bit of this program. I was able to work on my level and didn't realize that I had even gotten
back on grade level. This program enabled me to work on my level and assessed my comprehension
of a story daily.
After third grade, I never struggled in reading again because I enjoyed learning and didn't feel as if I
was struggling one bit. In elementary thru high school, I only had three African American teachers.

Transformative Educational Experience
The most transformative educational experience I ever had was being in my history. The purpose of
going to school because it makes me elaborate my thinking skill and knowing that knowledge is
unlimited. Especially being in my history, that where I truly find out the reason I am here for.
During the time in my history class, at first I'm wondered to myself, why do I need to learned the
things from past. My life wouldn't change because of history. I mean it already happens and nobody
can change anything so just let it stand there and move on.
Later on, as I continued attending the class, I changes the perspective of history, I started to notices
that because of history, because of people who in the history, that how our country are formed as it
is today. For instance, if there wasn't people brave enough to stand up and take action of equal right
movement where Negros want to be in the same position as whites, and women fighting to have the
benefits as men. Then this country we lived in won't be this diverse as it is now. As Marcus Garvey
said " A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without
roots." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once before I was shy girl who was usually soft spoken and reticent. In school nobody really listens
nor people want to talk to me. Later on, I realize that I can't be like this anymore, I need to improve
my behavior, I want to adjust myself because I want people to know me and hear my voice. Because
of this attitude, I became more open to myself by showing people my talent such as playing my flute
and doing my craftwork. My personality started becoming bold enough that I started participating in
art festivals, helping the community, and performing in dances at my schools concerts. Now the
presented of me today looking into my past, I have realize the important of

Reflection On Educational Experience
Introduction Throughout my field experience this semester at Oasis Catholico, I was exposed to
many different areas of educational psychology and I was able to see these practices being
implemented as well as the results that they produced. Throughout my field experience, however;
Piaget's theory of cognitive development, intrinsic extrinsic motivation, and feedback as well as its
contribution to student success took precedence in my weekly visits and allowed for my reflection
on concepts discussed throughout this course and how they pertained to my own experiences. I
believe that I was able to utilize these concepts and thought processes to gain personal insight and
professional opinions about these practices and their overall successes within a real classroom
setting. Oasis Catholico Oasis Catholico is a non–profit organization and after school program
which aids students in Prek–4th grade that live in the Pine Woods Estates Trailer Par in Athens,
Georgia. Oasis consists of several trailers within their community, each separated by grade level.
Students from the University of North Georgia and the University of Georgia generally tutor once or
twice a week and aid the students in completing homework, practicing English, and teaching various
other subjects through games and hands–on activities. These students are primarily Mexican
Americans and English is their second language. Their socioeconomic statuses are at the poverty
line or well below it. They come to Oasis every

My Educational Experience : Fair Warning
My educational experience. Fair warning, most of this just might be me ranting about some aspects
of my education, but truly, I believe that I have had one of the best educational experiences I could
ever ask for. I formed great relationships with peers and faculty, graduated with honors, and made it
into the Public Ivy, Miami University. My educational experience hasn't been like a lot of others
though, and I recognize that not everyone that attended my school had the same great experience I
had, but I still am incredibly thankful for all of the efforts my school and faculty put into each and
every one of us.
As I mentioned in class, I come from a very rural area in an area about an hour south of Columbus,
with corn fields surrounding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Support for sports, concerts and other extracurricular activities are always strong. Fundraising for
clubs is always strong. And when tragedy strikes, we are stronger than ever. With this sense of
community, you can see teachers taking the extra time to form personal relationships with students.
I, myself, had a very close relationship with a faculty member throughout my four years in high
school, and was close with all of my elementary school teachers. Because of this, I, and other
students, learned more than just what was supposed to be taught in the classroom. We learned life
lessons. And when we were being taught more traditional academic stuff, we learned better because
the teachers knew us, knew who we were, and how we best learned. So, despite many physical
challenges with our schools, the close community atmosphere that has hovered around our school
district is what has made me and so many others successful. Sorry Ohio Department of Education,
it's not all about testing and who scores the best.
Going off of that, I think my experiences in school have made me so critical of the testing and
standards that teachers are held too nowadays. I have seen the teachers that try their best and
hardest, but still have to be affected by the students that can't test well. And it's just that– some
people can be extremely smart but be an awful test–taker. And personally, in my school

Informative Educational Experience Research Paper
If someone were to ask me what my most trasformative educational experience was, I would ponder
for a moment. Then I would think back to my freshman year in high school, when I had an amazing
math er name Mr. Fernandez. His way of teaching would change my high school academic career
and pave the way throughout the rest of my time at high school.
He was a very thin, tall man who was very soft spoken but could get to the point. The way he taught
was different than every other teacher in school. He didnt care if you didnt take notes, were on your
phone, or came in late. It was all on you, equivalent to how college professors teach. Of course, in
highschool, alot of people abused the fact that he was laidback, but I never did. He would always

My Educational Experience
I'm one of the millions of American students whose first language is not English that had to
overcome barriers to fit in. Twenty–two years ago, both of my parents crossed the border illegally in
search of a better life leaving behind the growing poverty, crime, and violence. Neither of them
finished high school, my mother dropped out of third grade and my father went up to the eighth
grade. My parents didn't drop out because they were dumb or lazy, they had to work to support their
parents and siblings. Unlike others, my parents had to work the fields from sunrise to dawn with
barely enough money to eat. Due to their educational experience, they didn't want that for my sisters
and I. One of the first educational experiences I remember is being enrolled in the head start
program and my mom having to walk one mile and a half throughout the year's extreme weather. In
head start, I remember that I learned how to count to twenty, learned the alphabet in Spanish, and
how to write my name ''Veronica''. My mom decided that my sister and I had to learn Spanish first at
school for us to properly communicate with them.
Honestly, I'm sure I went to Pre–Kinder but don't remember anything as I was transferred to another
school halfway through the year. Moving on to Kindergarten made everything interesting as I
wanted to follow my sister's steps and felt protected by her. In Kinder, I learned how to read and
became a good reader thanks to my younger sisters. For homework, Mrs. Cruz made us

A Teacher 's Culture, Educational Experience, And Values
I. Introduction Just as a teacher's culture, educational experience, and values guide them in the way
that they will educate their students, so too do the learning theories which they practice. These
theories explore the manner in which students acquire and employ academic skills, and are the
foundation for effective teachers. Effective teachers are those who truly believe that they are making
a difference in their students' lives and so use the best theories and strategies to help their students
attain what God has called them to do. Furthermore, they see each individual as an image–bearer of
Christ and not "as objects. Finally, learning theories help those in education create policy and
curriculum from which the effective teacher must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mayer are more contemporary. Jean Piaget defined an individual's pattern of behavior on thinking as
a schema, which can be thought of as a file in the filing cabinet called long term memory. When an
individual is presented with new information, they respond by either assimilating the information
that is to use an existing schema, or file, to understand the data and thereby incorporate it into the
file, or through the process of accommodation of the schema, which is to modify the existing file to
incorporate the new information. Vygotsky's theory of learning involves the acquisition of
information from others and through direct teaching. His theory of the Zone of Proximal
Development suggests that a student learns best when they are given a task that they cannot
accomplish alone, but can complete if they receive assistance from a teacher or more experienced
peer. Assistance can be in the form of mediation, explanation, modeling, or scaffolding (Slavin,
2015). Reuven Feuerstein, the originator of the theory of structural cognitive modifiability, believed
that all children can learn to learn (Turziel, 2014), despite their difficulties. Additionally, he
proposed that a student's IQ and "cognitive performance can be significantly modified through
mediated learning intervention" (Kozulin, et al., 2010), thus he created a program of Instrumental
Enrichment in which a teacher or other trained professional mediates a student through paper and
pencil tasks. During

GED Exam
I was a 17–year–old pregnant high school dropout the first time I took the General Educational
Development (GED) test. It was in the summer of the year 2001 on a beautiful sunny day at our
local university. The GED test was to provide me with a high school diploma equivalent. I had
months of preparation and practice tests. I was a fast learner and always well prepared. I was
confident and very adamant in passing this test. That is, until I got the results of the GED test.
The test room scenery made me nervous. The exam room was the size of a small walk in closet. The
walls painted white and the floor was a clear white tile. Four cubicles to the right and four on the
left side of the wall. A boss steel waiting room chair assigned to each cubicle. Two video cameras
located at each end of the room on the ceiling overseeing the cubicles. An intercom speaker at the
entrance of the room above the door. The exam booklet and a number two sharp pencil handed to
me to begin test.
The test covered reading, writing, math, social studies and science. Throughout my time in school
and GED preparation, I was very strong in reading, writing and social studies. I struggled in math
and science being my least favorite subjects. To my surprise, I did pass math, science, and social
studies but failed reading and writing. I was surprised and shocked. I could not comprehend why if
they were my favorite subjects and had passed all the practice tests in preparation. How could I have

Teaching experience and acceptance of educational technologies, self–efficacy and alienation:
Literature Review The relationship between teaching experience, self–efficacy and alienation has
received attention from a number of angles in the research literature. Likewise the factors affecting
the acceptance of educational technologies have also been investigated, but no study yet examines
all factors concurrently. In reviewing the literature it is important to note that these are not isolated
factors; for example, a factor contributing to self–efficacy may be a low level of alienation, and the
reverse may also be true. This review will consider literature grouped according to the following
themes: alienation, self–efficacy, and factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Culture Shock, the feeling of disorientation experienced by someone who is suddenly subjected to
an unfamiliar culture, way of life, or set of attitudes. That's exactly what I felt as I walked into my
first day of school in Kindergarten, although at the time I might not have known what I experienced
is what it was. Teacher was explaining what we would be learning that year. I remember looking
around the classroom at all the different colored and white people. Before I had entered
Kindergarten I had generally been surrounded around people like myself who were also Latino,
Spanish speaking Catholics. Diversity was something I don't remember been exposed too. So that
first day of Kindergarten for me was an eye opening experience. As I surveyed the room I saw only
a few people like myself and I began to see Asians, Indians, African Americans, White people, and
many more races. Looking back on it now I know it was an early sign of culture shock for my five
year old self. My accent was something that I was often embarrassed to let come out. Speaking
slowly and really concentrated was the way I tried to hide my accent. Although I tried to make
myself sound more like the other kids, my accent often slipped which made me feel compromised.
Kindergarten was more than the beginning of my academic journey, but also the beginning of
assimilation for me. I felt disadvantaged throughout my time there, I knew that the other kids who
grew up only speaking English were the kids that would do

Key Factors Of A Gifted Student 's Educational Experience...
Our gifted programming standards take several factors of a gifted student's educational experience
into account. Our primary goal is for each gifted student to develop well–rounded academically,
socially, and emotionally.
To accomplish this goal we integrate our gifted programming standards with the academic
standards. We have specific student outcomes with which we use the academic content to
accomplish. Student outcomes are
grouped into four areas.
Cognitive Growth and Talent Development
Students benefit from meaningful and challenging learning activities that address their unique
characteristics and needs. (Standard 1.6) Students become more competent and develop their
abilities.
(Standards 3.2 & 3.3)
The interventions we use are designed to increase challenge and develop self– efficacy in our
students. We operate at the three highest levels of Bloom's Taxonomy: synthesis, evaluation,
and analysis. Students use metacognition where they notice their thoughts and record their
thinking. This allows us to ratchet–up the level of their thinking through the types of questions
we ask. We want our students to become self–regulated learners. We encourage them to set
goals and recognize their accomplishments. They learn to self–monitor and adapt to changes
using a variety of learning strategies.
When we ask students to "leave tracks" in their reading, they are doing a metacogitive
activity. Beyond making connections to the text, we ask them to notice

My Current Educational Coursework And Field Experiences
Reflection #2 Throughout my current educational coursework and field experiences, I have explored
and engaged in the use of multiple assessments to gather both formative and summative data to
check for student knowledge of the standards. As stated by Bransford (1999), "Assessment should
mirror good instruction; happen continuously as part of instruction; and provide information about
the levels of understanding that students are reaching." Any type of assessment is an important
assessment that helps teachers assess students whether it is a formative or summative assessment.
Formative assessments are found throughout instruction all day, every day. A pre–assessment is a
formative assessment because it can assist teachers in collecting data ... Show more content on

On the other hand, Summative assessments are an assessments OF student learning. When I say OF
student learning I mean, an assessment over a unit, particular skill or standard a teacher needs to
assess AFTER her teaching is completed. For example, tests, projects, EOCT, GMAS and other
standardized tests are summative assessments. Tomlinson (2013) explains that, "summative
assessment suggests that a grade will be given and a student 's performance will be evaluated based,
to some degree, on the information elicited." As stated previously, summative assessments are taken
for a grade to assess a student's knowledge OF the standards. These assessments also help us see
which students got where we needed them to be. Although both assessments are different in many
ways, they both have a purpose in a classroom especially when differentiating. According to
Teaching Tolerance (2016) Differentiated Instruction (DI) is an approach where teachers proactively
plan varied approaches to what students need to learn, how they will learn it and how they express
what they 've learned. Assessments are a way to help teachers differentiate by flexible grouping to
focus on a particular skill or group students who are on the same level. In relation to the previous
statement, Tomlinson and Moon (2013) state that," Understanding the mutuality that excellent
teachers strive to achieve among the elements also establishes a clear context for an extended

My Educational Experience Analysis
After graduating high school, I knew that pursuing higher education was going to be very
challenging and time demanding but I had enough determination and persistency to achieve my
educational goals. My family's support has been crucial and I wouldn't be at the educational level I
am right now without their support, specially my mothers'. My father passed away when I was only
six years old but despite the struggles we've faced without his support, my mother was able to
provide my two sibling and me with a decent quality life. She works as a custodian and her income
isn't sufficient to pay for my education and support the family. I decided to search for job
opportunities and scholarships that could pay for my college education and help in some needs at
home.
Being and immigrant was another challenge I faced for attending college. I migrated to the United
States from Mexico when I was six years old after my dad was murdered in Mexico. I spoke English
but I didn't know how the educational system worked. When I was a senior in high school I didn't

My Educational Experience
In life you will have to go through difficult challenges to become successful. Just as in life you have
to fight through obstacles to become better at what you want to accomplish. You will have to be
willing to take risks no matter what the situation consists of. My educational experience that took
place during my senior year was very difficult for me to face, but I did not give up. I learned that the
only way to fix a mistake is to learn from it and try again. Learning is what made me stronger and
helped me make great accomplishments. During my last four years at Montclair High, I have always
been the kind of student who would always turn in completed work on time. I have always passed
my classes with good grades and stayed on task. Being determined and staying focused was my long
term goal towards success. However, I came across a situation where I was in danger of failing my
economics class. During my senior year I had an economics teacher who had the habit of getting off
task. When it came to the test, I felt confused because I did not know what he expected. As soon as I
got my test score back, I had received a grade that I did not expect. This was very shocking to me
because in my other classes I had always received A's and B's. The reason I would receive these
grades was because the teachers were available to stay focused on their lectures. In contrast, because
the teacher did not stay focused during his lectures, I received a D on my test. This would not only

My Stunning Educational Experience
My Thrilling Educational Experience
Excitement, thrill, apprehension and all those human emotions were governing me as they do to
every other individual who enters an unknown environment. The smell of air had changed and it
consistently reminded me of these emotions. Now, there I was in this great city all alone, having
moved from Nepal to the United States trying to get a quality education. The new education system
stunned me. How can things be so different? How come I don't even have to yell "MAY I COME IN
SIR" before I enter the class? I was both surprised and proud not having to do it anymore. The new
learning process was so interactive that I finally found education to be interesting. After

His classes were so active and engaging that I couldn't help falling in love with English. Me, who
once hated English and could not write even a proper paragraph, am now writing an organized,
well–formatted college paper. I count this as one of my greatest achievements. Learning is now
more about bringing out my potentiality on the piece of paper rather than having to focus and stick
to the teacher's ideas. When the class is raised to a discussion on a particular issue everybody is
working on, ideas pop out from all around the class forcing me to think from different perspectives.
There is always room for me to rectify my misconceptions. The learning experience was suddenly
crafted in a way which encouraged me to compete with myself. I found my writing skills getting
better and better with every class I attended. After 15 years of ineffective education, I finally found
out the reason for my failures in the past and my way in to academic success. The way you feel
about education is largely dependent on the educational experiences you've had. As for me, I have
had a chance to experience both––one of the best as well as one of the worst. The way education is
delivered to the students definitely defines the effectiveness of the education system itself. As
demonstrated by the famous rock band Pink Floyd in their music video "Another

Learning Theory, Prior Attachment Experience Within Early...
Within this essay there will be a consideration to one key element in detail, with the intention of
describing a successful mathematics lesson; with reference to relevant learning theory, prior
attachment experience within early years and educational reporters.
A mathematics lesson has many key elements to make it successful within an educational setting,
such as hands on learning, the use of resources and use of assessment. This essay will have a core
focus on children learning through play with regard to Development Matters. (Early Education,
2012).
When planning practical learning activities, practitioners may come across some difficulties with
regards to equal learning opportunities (Atherton, 2013). These issues may include but are not
limited to effective differentiation, assessment and different learning styles. It can be suggested from
observations on attachment, it is apparent that adapting learning activities to suit the needs of all
children can be difficult but these activities can be adapted such as when using number during play,
bigger numbers can be used for the higher ability and smaller numbers for the lower ability, Visser
(1993) concurs, stating that teachers can meet the need for progress by selecting appropriate
teaching methods to match the individual pupil's learning strategies, within a classroom setting.
As children grow they will develop their own, individual learning style and this can be difficult for
teachers to provide for, especially in an

Learning And Overall Educational Experience
This week, the author sat down with a seventh grade special education student to gain insight on
how he feels about his learning and overall educational experience. The student's name is Nate, and
he has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) with goals in the areas of reading, writing, math,
and behavior, and he has been diagnosed with ADHD. Nate was a new student to the district in
August and was adopted within the last year. Since the teacher–student relationship was newly
developing, the author staged the interview in a very informal manner. The student and teacher sat
across the table from each other and simply chatted back and forth. The author also presented the
interview to the student as an opportunity for the teacher to get to know him better since he was new
to the district. The first question asked Nate to tell about what things went well for him at his old
school. The author had hoped this question would start the interview off on a positive note, but
instead, Nate responded with negative comments. He expressed how at his old school he did not feel
like he received much help and said he was often confused about what to do and how to do it. He
also shared that he did not like reading class because it was boring. However, his last remark
indicated that he liked math class because his teachers were fun, and they did a lot of hands on
projects in groups. Nate's response to the first question shifted the teacher's focus to how Nate
prefers to learn.

Reflection And Educational Differences In The Educational...
When we started this eight week course about differentiation I already had a lot of background
information on this subject. I did learn a few things about how to help my colleagues jump on the
bandwagon of differentiation. By helping my fellow teachers change their mindset towards planning
with differentiation in mind I am making a positive difference in my students' educational
experience. When differentiation is used properly students are taught lessons in ways that are both
meaningful and specific to the students' educational needs. Differentiation is a great tool that
teachers can use to help decrease the educational gap between students skills and the grade–level
standards that they should be meeting. For this class we had to create a lesson with differentiation in
mind. For me this assignment was easy because I already plan my lessons with differentiation in
mind. What came naturally with differentiation was differentiating for content, process, and product.
Each station that I planned had some sort of differentiation to help students understand the concept
that was being taught. Including these extra strategies was easy and did not add any extra time for
me to plan. What I found to be more challenging was differentiating with readiness in mind. With 50
plus students in my gymnasium I have a wide range of skill levels. This means that I have to use my
pre–assessment data in order to figure who might need more help and who can be pushed a little

of a Common Hope Mission team. For a week I was exposed to extreme poverty, hunger and a
culture so different than my own. Through various activities I came to realize just how fortunate I
was back at home and how much I took things for granted and became disgusted with how I had
been living seeing these people and how they lived. This was an experience that I will never forget,
but will never get again because it was so personal and unique. BODY: One of the experiences I had
the chance to do was go to a school up in the rolling mountains outside of Antigua. As a group we
got the chance to see what education was like for these people, which I had found out was very
challenging for them. Kids preschool through high school walked for miles to get any sort of
education they could get ahold of whether it was good or bad. It was incredible to see how
enthusiastic these kids were about learning and had an impact on me, and made me force the idea
that my education was such a privilege to me and that I needed to realize that. BODY: Throughout
the week we were there, one of the projects that we had all been working was building a house–a tin
roof house. The completed home was the size of two college dorms rooms, but no real kitchen, no
running water and no plumbing all while seven family members lived there. On the final day the
home was completed, we all blessed the house

Educational Experience
What work, activity, or educational experience has best equipped you for work on public policy?
Please describe how this experience has impacted your personal growth and your view of the world.
The world is an ever–changing continuum; therefore, its residents must adapt even more rapidly in
order to strive for growth and success. I am no exception to this golden rule. Although I had a good
understanding of the United States and the world prior to this summer, I acquired much experience
and a better perspective on reality due to my internship these past few months.
In the summer of 2016 (to present), I have been privileged enough to become acquainted with and
intern for Mrs. Sigrid Frye–Revere, founder of the American Living Organ Donor Fund and the
Center for Ethical Solutions. During this internship, I have been fortunate enough to interact with
clients and access their records as they request for financial assistance for organ transplantations.
Since then, I have been conducting research on medical journals and policies, working with clients

That being said, I have come to a deeper realization. My original goals of becoming a doctor can
tremendously benefit those in need, but there is more that I can offer. Acquiring skills by working
for a non–profit seeking to help others is insufficient. The realization is a simple one: The best way
to assist others is creating and shaping effective public policymaking. I yearn to combine my
passion to help others as a doctor with effective policy in order to maximize my potential. While a
doctor can save 10 patients a day, sound public policy can alter the fate of an entire city, country, or
even the world. This realization has led to a complete transformation of my passion and dreams.
This transformation was made possible by the knowledge and immersion into reality that the Fund
and Ms. Frye–Revere have given

My Education Experience : My Educational Experience
When looking back at my education in the past, I would say that I am happy with my overall
experience. I do think that there was some areas that were more challenging than others, but this
was a reflection of more than just educational factors. We consider all of the things that happen in
our lives and pile them into different experiences. When thinking about specifically my educational
experience, I feel accomplished and thankful for the kind of education and support I received a
while in school. I am grateful to have only attended one school from Kindergarten to 12th grade,
with the exception of having to switch buildings for 9th–12th grade. I am happy to say that the
teachers in my past have played a big role in my reasoning for wanting to become a teacher. I
remember sitting in a desk and thinking, "This is what I want to do when I get older" during my 4th
grade Math class. I was lucky to attend a school that was small in quantity, but not quality. I knew
all of my teachers, and future teachers from other grades. I felt lucky to go through school with
peers from Grade K–12 and graduate with people I have spent my entire education with. I liked
having tutoring resources when needed and feeling like I could help others in need as well. I felt like
my school education was like family to me. I think it is important to be comfortable with the
teachers and classmates in your school setting. It makes learning and overall class atmospheres less
overwhelming and anxious in my opinion. High–stakes tests can have an overpowering feeling
during these experiences. It may come easy for some or cause anxiety and frustration for others.
Each student is different. Some are great test taker whereas others find testing taking to be a
challenge. I think it all depends on the kind of learner you are and the kind of test it is. Some people
find midterms and finals to be very stressful. In my opinion, these types of exams are just reviewing
what you already learned, in the same class setting you've been taught, most likely. Other high–
stakes tests that can be overwhelming could be something like the PAPAs, Praxis, or even the SAT's.
When thinking about my experience during the SAT's, I found it more difficult than having to

Educational Experience Reflection Paper
My educational experience begins in a public school located in the Central Valley. All throughout k–
8, I had the same people in all my classes. There were hardly ever any new students. High school
was almost identical. My high school was in a different town but the experience was very similar.
The way I was taught was different from my peers in high school. This is parallel to the idea
brought up by Hansen. Hansen talks about how all students learn different things even if they are
taught the same thing. No longer did I have the same students in all my classes. I was given the
opportunity to expand my connections.
The big shift in my educational experience occurred when I came to college. College was by far the
farthest place I had been from home. It was a culture shock. The community was so diverse
compared to my community back home. The population back home was predominantly latinx, more
specifically Mexican American. In Berkeley, there were students from all over the state, all over the
country, and all over the world. Berkeley had become my exposure to the rest of the world.
My worldview was slowly shifting. I got involved in different spaces on campus where I noticed the
different communities they served. For instance, I joined the Raices Recruitment and Retention
Center where I got to interact with latinx in campus. I had been so used to only interacting with
Mexicans. Now, I had the opportunity to interact with Central Americans. I got to know their
struggles, their culture, their traditions, and their ideology. As professor Murphy mentions it is of
importance to have dialogue with folks and listen to their perspectives. Within this dialogue, it
becomes important to recognize differences and learn to find value in them. I noticed similarities in
ideology and the differences in traditions. Within those traditions, I saw the context behind them. I
saw the beauty in other cultures.
The next space I joined was Sigma Pi Alpha. In my sorority, I got to relate to other women
struggling in this university. I got to talk to my sisters about their journey to get to cal and the
difficulties they've encountered since getting here. One of my sisters was also doing the math major
so we talked about our

Personal Reflection : My Educational Experience
Education
My educational experience is one amazing thing I would never forget. My parents gave me an
experience of a lifetime that I would never let go and continue to expand. It was a gift of a great
education I could have tossed away but instead I took advantage of it and it expanded my intellect
and made me more independent. As a young girl my parents always told me, they wanted a great
educational experience for me. They said no matter what it took to get me into good schools, to have
a great education they will do it. My parents worked very hard to give me the opportunity to be in
private school my whole life since pre–school. They always told me to work hard, be bright and be
bold. The educational level I had being in private school my whole life was amazing. What was
amazing about my education level is that I was able to take all college prep. classes, I took an AP
Spanish class, my teachers were always on top of us to hand in work in time, essays in my English
class were based on a college level writing. It was amazing because my school expanded my mind
more on a college based level.
From pre–school till sixth grade I was in private school that was co–ed I switched to four different
private schools since I was younger. For pre–school I went to St.Micheal which was an experience
to have been able to encounter. Being able to learn about religion, other languages, and different
cultures. Going in to kindergarten till third grade I went to St. George it was a good

My Educational Experience With Therapy / Psychology
When one decides to become a counselor, there are several aspects to learn to become a well–
rounded therapist. One of those aspects is gaining knowledge of the various theories and central
concept of the counseling profession. Additional facets to learn is how to create a therapeutic
environment for the client. Furthering on these aspects, we have to learn to interact with clients to
be better able to help them in different areas of their life including social and professional. Final
features to learn about counseling is how clients view their own life to produce more therapeutic
opportunities. Throughout this paper I will discuss these various features of counseling. While we
go through our education to become a therapist there are several theories and concepts to learn. At
first, I didn't want to become a counselor when I started college. However as I gained knowledge
about the profession I began to develop a love of everything that it is about. In my educational
experience with therapy/psychology we have discussed on our views of concepts in counseling.
These discussions always have me thinking of my own life and experiences in the field. When it
comes to counseling my personal opinion is, I believe that counseling is a noble field to get into for
a career. I view therapy as highly effective in assisting individuals through their difficulties. I also
consider it to be important for just basic living. Counseling assists us to understand ourselves and it

Today I had attended my first class of the Summer 2017 semester. I enrolled into the course EDUC
252 for multiple reasons. One reason for taking this course was that it is a requirement for the
Bachelor of General Studies (BGS), an undergraduate degree program at Simon Fraser University
(SFU), and this course fit perfectly into my busy schedule this current semester. Another reason for
my enrolment into the course EDUC 252 was my pursuit of becoming a teacher. I believe this
course will help me as a prospective educator with providing me with various opportunities to
develop myself as a reflective practitioner. I have been interested in becoming a teacher for as long
as I can remember. Unlike many other children who often had a list of aspirations when growing up,
I was adamant on the fact that I wanted to become a teacher and would always announce "when I
grow up, I want to be a teacher." I believe this is a result of the positive impact that my former
teachers had on my educational experiences. These teachers played a significant role in my life,
helping me to build and accomplish my educational goals. Some of these teachers, I still keep in
contact with. For example, over the last few months, I have been shadowing and volunteering in my
former Kindergarten and Grade 6 and 7 teachers' current classrooms.
Prior to attending the class, I was anxious and nervous. Despite this being my third semester at
Simon Fraser University (SFU), I still do not know many people and do not have any friends who
are also attending SFU, let alone who are also in the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) program. I
had recently transferred into SFU from 2 Community College, where I completed my first two years
of post secondary education. SFU is a commuter school for me as I live near the University of
British Columbia (UBC), so it has been difficult to get involved in SFU community. I make the
commute to SFU by choice, as I was also accepted into UBC, but choose SFU after hearing about
the fantastic program SFU offered for aspiring educators.
I felt that by beginning the class with the Bingo activity, I was pushed out of my comfort zone and
encouraged to introduce myself to others in the class. At first it was a little nerve

My name Jose Antonio Cintron, I am a United States Army soldier. I have been in the military for
sixteen years, and for the last ten of those years, I have been serving as an attack helicopter pilot. In
the following paragraphs, I will guide you through my personal educational experience, where it
started, how it transformed to this point and how I want it to progress in the future.
At a young age, my mother as a single parent decided to move from Puerto Rico to the United States
of America. I don't remember much about that time, but I do recollect being outside playing with
children that were speaking a language that was foreign to my ears. Determined not to allow
something as insignificant as language stop my need for amusement, so we just communicated by
demonstrating what we wanted the other to do. Within a week I was speaking English and
interacting with my new–found friends. Luckily this happened during the summer, so it prepared me
for starting school a few weeks later. Learning to speak the language came naturally to me. But
reading and writing required more effort, so I gravitated to be a hands–on learner while I attempted
to catch up with the other students. Moreover, I commenced enjoying visual learning especially at
home where I could watch "Sesame Street" when I wasn't playing outside. I recall watching a movie
called "Iron Eagles," and for the first time, I knew I desired to become a pilot.
As I was finally feeling comfortable with the English language, my

The first time as an adult learning or I thought it was adult learning was when I was in my mid–
thirties. Here I am again many years later back at it again. This time is totally different than the prior
years. I was a part–time student, married, working and raising our children. My major was Criminal
Justice and I took classes on campus. At that time the adjustment to going back to college didn't
seem difficult to me at all. It almost gave me the feeling of being back in a high school setting. I was
able to settle right in even though the majority of my classmates were straight out of high school.
This was so different for many in so many ways, I felt like I had a true purpose for being there. I had
set educational goals for myself so that I may be more productive in my life skills. When I was in
high school I warranted to be there but college was my choice, I wanted more fulfilled educational
in my life. I knew that academically enhancing my education was an achievement that I needed to
accomplish. I didn't know at that time that there were different types of adult learners, different
strategies, styles, categories or models for adult learners. I was under the assumption that you went
to class, listened to the instructor, complete your assignments before the dead line and get a grade.
This is the same method I proceeded in high school.
McGrath states "the pedagogical theory assumes that the student will simply learn what they have

Educational Background And Work Experience Essay
1. How has your educational background and work experience enhanced your preparation for your
current faculty position?
I have over 16 years' experience as a hospice and palliative care social worker, during which time I
provided educational and counseling services to individuals facing end of life, their primary care
giver, families and community supports. I also provided in services to community resources on
subjects such as preparing for end of life and advance care directives, bereavement and how the
hospice industry is expanding and changing. I also served as the supervisor for a staff over 10+ and
recruited, trained and supervised over 20 volunteers. Moreover, when I was in Nepal I had the
opportunity to join the biggest University there and teach third year master level social work
students in a number of courses. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What inspired you to be a teacher? Why do you love teaching?
Teaching has always come natural to me, as an untraditional learner myself, I was called to this field
as I know firs hand the frustrations and day to day struggles that make learns want to give up.
Fortunately, educational approaches have become more diverse. My goal is to ensure everyone has
an engaging, rewarding experience in learning so they are prepared to be their own best advocates
and that of those they serve.
5. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time or describe an interesting fact about yourself?
My favorite past time is traveling, I have been to 48 states and 17 countries. My favorite state is
Colorado because I can ski, kayak, mountain climb or buzz off in nature! My favorite country is a
tie between Morocco and Sri Lanka, there aren't really any words to describe these wonderfully
captivating wonders of the world. When not wander lusting I can be found at my home with my two
St Bernard's, of course studying as I advance my own educational endeavors.

Importance Of Furthering My Educational Experience
A. Please describe your own educational experience
My own educational experience has encouraged me to become a critical thinker. I have been
fortunate enough to have had teacher that have invested in my education. My teachers actions and
dedicated demonstrated to me that they cared about my education. I remember them talking to me
about the importance of furthering my education and motivating me to follow my dreams. I was
able to learn through my experiences and unveil new knowledge. Freie (1993) stated, "If students
are not able to transform their lived experience into knowledge and to use the already acquired
knowledge they will never be able to unveil new knowledge" (p. 19). However, if we are able to use

Formal And Informal Educational Experiences
Learning Autobiography (LAB # 1):
Formal and Informal Educational Experiences
Michael E Emmering
March 16, 2016
LAS 20010 College Seminar I: Exploring
Ottawa University Learning Autobiography (LAB # 1) In this paper you will learn my insights into
my life. I will touch on my formal and informal education. I will reflect on the four Breadth areas of
Ottawa University's program of liberal arts studies. Future goals, philosophy, values, and obstacles
will be discussed. This will include significant people and events that have happened in my life.
Formal Educational Experiences My formal educational experiences start's with Field School, Field
School is elementary school in Elmhurst Illinois. I went there from first grade to fifth grade.
Elementary school is where I began my early years of education. Began interest's in reading and
whiting. First learned the nature of my learning disabilities. I was diagnosed with dyslexia, and
speech impediment. Which made learning hard from the start. Sandburg Jr. High School is where I
went for my sixth grade education. I was only at Sandburg for one year, for the year that I was there
I started going down the wrong path, started getting into trouble and hanging out with the wrong
crowd. Midway into my sixth grade year I moved to the other side of Elmhurst. So for seventh grade
I went to Churchville Jr. High School. During my time there I continued to have a hard time with
my studies. I also almost got expelled

My Educational Experience Analysis
My educational path has been filled with up and downs, it seems like it's been a long journey with
no end in sight. Like most people, I have been in school the average twelve years and have taken the
further step in attending college. It is no surprise that I have had the typical school experience.
However, there are always parts of someone's life that aren't just black and white. The unique
obstacles that I have endured make me who I am today. A large portion of life experience can be
credited to all my years in school. From the start of elementary to my days today here at VCU.
I can honestly say all my years of school have taught me how to be an individual. I feel confident in
saying I am now my own person. I understand that there is no one else like me. With that being said,
I have the opportunity to do things differently based past experiences. For instance, while I was in
high school I was able to help coordinate a field trip for the Veterinary Science students. This trip
was to northern Virginia and our goal was to lend a hand to endangered wild life. The trip's outcome
was to help first year students get hands work and experience a new environment dealing with
wildlife. I would never have been able to volunteer for something like this in middle school. ...

If I am no longer compatible with someone I do not have to force myself to be involved with them.
In all stages of school I have experienced people coming in and out of my life. Whether or not it was
family or a friend, it became normal to me. People leaving my life taught me to count on myself to
succeed. Depending on others to be there was really a hit or miss situation. I'd rather do for myself
and succeed or fail for myself. The people I went to high school with are now just a blur. Teachers
and college students always said that the people you went to school with will probably be forgotten,
as everyone lives their own

Marianist Educational Experience
As a UD student, I am required to behave in a way that corresponds to the University's Catholic,
academic, and social code of conduct. This means that I am held to a high standard, academically
and morally, in the ways that I behave in and out of the classroom. Furthermore, behaviors, such as
plagiarism, that compromise my academic integrity, as well as illegal activities, such as underage
drinking or fighting, are not acceptable as a member of the UD community because they directly
contrast the University's mission.
Next, many students all across the country, and potentially the world, engage in behaviors that are
not in keeping with many Catholic, Marianist or legally acceptable behaviors. Some of these
include: underage drinking, smoking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These could include recognition and acceptance of fault throughout periods of history, such as the
attempted genocide of Jews during the Holocaust. Through various encyclicals and addresses made
by Blessed Pope John Paul II, the Catholic Church admitted their failure and wrongdoings, a
positive example for all Christian believers. Additionally, by taking more accepting stances of other
religious and scientific beliefs during Vatican I and II, the Catholic Church embraced both the
oneness and the uniqueness that all people share, addressing the need for mutual respect among all
people. The admission of fault, request for forgiveness and effort to induce change are all elements
of the Marianist educational goals, and the Catholic Church can be credited for attempting to do all
of these things. In addition, by remembering that the Catholic Church is made up of humans who
are all, by their nature, sinful beings, and that despite our best efforts, we all make mistakes, we can
all be more understanding of one

My Educational Experience As A Future Teacher
Key Assessment As a future teacher I was very intrigued that I was able to go into the classroom and
do hands on activities with the students. I was able to do my field placement hours at an elementary
school that provided numerous opportunities for me to work with kids and gave me a chance to
broaden my horizon with some new ideas for teaching. Overall I was able to focus on motivational
skills, diversity, testing, I got the chance to work with children with learning disabilities, I was able
to see the way the teacher interacted with her students, and much more. Although it seemed like 20
hours was a lot, I enjoyed being able to be in a classroom and prepare myself as a future teacher. I
did my observation hours at Blackburn Elementary School, which is an elementary school for kids
ages K–5. The goal at Blackburn is to give each child an equal opportunity to learn and strive to be
the best they can be. Originally, I did my observation hours in a second grade classroom; however, I
was also able to observe a kindergarten inclusion classroom as well. This experience gave me a lot
of insight on the struggles of working with children who have learning disabilities and it also gave
me great insight on ways to work with students. During my field experience I was able to observe
how to work with students individually and in groups. I was able to see the difference it makes when
you work with a child one on one and with other people. While I was in the classroom I was able to

Learning Experience : My Experience And Effective...
Throughout my lifelong educational experience, I have developed a self–awareness and
understanding of how best I learn. My preferred learning styles are a mixture of social learning,
logical learning, and hands on experience. I remember the struggles I had during primary school
when my instructors taught predominantly through memorization. It was difficult for me to just
simply 'memorize' facts or try to learn something in isolation. I needed the opportunity to build upon
my prior knowledge of a topic, making connections and associations with other information, and
occasionally come back for a refresher on past information. I needed a teacher who not only offered
information, but instead was able to encourage linkage of information. This has shaped my own
style of teaching and my emphasis on helping students first form a solid foundation of information
and progressively build upon that base knowledge to achieve a deeper understanding. In this aspect,
my beliefs and style align with those of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. Pestalozzi believed a man
learns by action and emphasized repetition following concrete observation (Brühlmeier et al., 2010).
Delivering blanket information with the expectation of learners to just retain it for the future is
ineffective for the majority of students. More often the information has to be fully understood and
relatable to be absorbable. I believe it's important to be aware of each student's unique learning style
and what they are capable of

My Educational Experience
My overall experience from Pre– K to high school was good. Although experience with school did
not start off on a good foot. I hated school as a child. Anytime my mom would drop me off to
school, I would cry for an hour. In fact, I did not stop crying when my mom would leave me at
school until I reached the second grade. School always made me feel anxious, no matter how many
friends I made nor how many teachers I liked. Although the anxiety has not gone away, I have
learned how to deal with it. My anxiety was caused by my kindergarten teacher. I could never
understand the fact that she chose a career in teaching, but disliked children and lacked the patience
to deal with them. I remember her class involving her yelling at the class and giving assignments I
did not understand. Although I was five years old at the time, I remember her never taking the time
to individually work with a student who was struggling with the material. In her class, either you
understood it or you struggled until she taught the next topic. I constantly struggled because I was
the student that never grasp the material Unfortunately, that was my experience with every teacher I
had, until I reached the third grade. I will never forget my third grade teacher. She is the main reason
I began to excel in school. My grades began to improve. I did not receive any more possible hold
over notices since I took her class. Partially, because she took the time to get to know all of her
students. She also added

Personal Past Educational Experience

  • 1. Personal Past Educational Experience My own personal past educational experience to date has been a learning journey for me. Before I became a nurse I started out as a Certified Nursing Assistant I then shortly after that I obtained my CNA II. I worked as a CNA while in school until I was accepted into a nursing program. First, I obtained my Licensed Practical Nursing degree then obtained my Associate Degree Nursing. I feel that each journey from becoming a CNA to a LPN then an RN helped prepare me with a basic foundation in education and training for each journey. With each journey the education went more in–depth and in–detail than the previous. Education is learning theory no matter if you have a foundation on the subject or learning it from scratch. In my training, I feel that with each higher education level I was trained for more complex skills. When you train to learn new skills you learn to do something instead of knowing how to do it. In my personal opinion I believe that you put your education to use with your skills which helps ensure safe and effective practice in any profession. In this day and age with the evolving technology and nursing innovation, it is imperative for a nurse to keep up their skill level and purse education to keep up with one's profession or for advancement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main difference between the BSN to RN is that the BSN offers more opportunities for faster career movement and advancement or become an educator. Many hospitals want more BSN's in order to achieve or maintain "Magnet Status" or specialty certifications. That is one of the reasons I am pursuing my BSN since where I am employed is a Magnet hospital. I believe that in the near future, the minimum requirement for entry level nursing will be a BSN. By having a BSN, I hope it will assure for a job/career and may provide job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Interview With My Educational Experiences I began Mrs. Chambers' interview with the first background question, like in the first two interviews, tell me about your educational experiences in school. Mrs. Chambers' responded: I attended College Station, Texas public schools. My elementary school years were challenging. I remember in first and second grade I struggled in reading. My mother was a single parent who worked at night but she always made sure I completed my homework and read every night. It seemed as if I just couldn't catch up with my peers even in a small group setting. I always felt like my teachers didn't push me enough or have high expectations from me because of my inability to read as well as my peers. I knew I could read but I felt that she didn't give me the strategies that would assist me in reading and comprehending what I've read. I loved math because it was always hands on. Finally, in third grade I met a teacher who realized that I needed a special program in order to be on the same level as my peers. I remember being in a pull out program and enjoying every bit of this program. I was able to work on my level and didn't realize that I had even gotten back on grade level. This program enabled me to work on my level and assessed my comprehension of a story daily. After third grade, I never struggled in reading again because I enjoyed learning and didn't feel as if I was struggling one bit. In elementary thru high school, I only had three African American teachers. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Transformative Educational Experience The most transformative educational experience I ever had was being in my history. The purpose of going to school because it makes me elaborate my thinking skill and knowing that knowledge is unlimited. Especially being in my history, that where I truly find out the reason I am here for. During the time in my history class, at first I'm wondered to myself, why do I need to learned the things from past. My life wouldn't change because of history. I mean it already happens and nobody can change anything so just let it stand there and move on. Later on, as I continued attending the class, I changes the perspective of history, I started to notices that because of history, because of people who in the history, that how our country are formed as it is today. For instance, if there wasn't people brave enough to stand up and take action of equal right movement where Negros want to be in the same position as whites, and women fighting to have the benefits as men. Then this country we lived in won't be this diverse as it is now. As Marcus Garvey said " A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots." ... Later on, I realize that I can't be like this anymore, I need to improve my behavior, I want to adjust myself because I want people to know me and hear my voice. Because of this attitude, I became more open to myself by showing people my talent such as playing my flute and doing my craftwork. My personality started becoming bold enough that I started participating in art festivals, helping the community, and performing in dances at my schools concerts. • 4. Reflection On Educational Experience Introduction Throughout my field experience this semester at Oasis Catholico, I was exposed to many different areas of educational psychology and I was able to see these practices being implemented as well as the results that they produced. Throughout my field experience, however; Piaget's theory of cognitive development, intrinsic extrinsic motivation, and feedback as well as its contribution to student success took precedence in my weekly visits and allowed for my reflection on concepts discussed throughout this course and how they pertained to my own experiences. I believe that I was able to utilize these concepts and thought processes to gain personal insight and professional opinions about these practices and their overall successes within a real classroom setting. Oasis Catholico Oasis Catholico is a non–profit organization and after school program which aids students in Prek–4th grade that live in the Pine Woods Estates Trailer Par in Athens, Georgia. Oasis consists of several trailers within their community, each separated by grade level. Students from the University of North Georgia and the University of Georgia generally tutor once or twice a week and aid the students in completing homework, practicing English, and teaching various other subjects through games and hands–on activities. These students are primarily Mexican Americans and English is their second language. Their socioeconomic statuses are at the poverty line or well below it. They come to Oasis every ... • 5. My Educational Experience : Fair Warning My educational experience. Fair warning, most of this just might be me ranting about some aspects of my education, but truly, I believe that I have had one of the best educational experiences I could ever ask for. I formed great relationships with peers and faculty, graduated with honors, and made it into the Public Ivy, Miami University. My educational experience hasn't been like a lot of others though, and I recognize that not everyone that attended my school had the same great experience I had, but I still am incredibly thankful for all of the efforts my school and faculty put into each and every one of us. As I mentioned in class, I come from a very rural area in an area about an hour south of Columbus, with corn fields surrounding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Support for sports, concerts and other extracurricular activities are always strong. Fundraising for clubs is always strong. And when tragedy strikes, we are stronger than ever. With this sense of community, you can see teachers taking the extra time to form personal relationships with students. I, myself, had a very close relationship with a faculty member throughout my four years in high school, and was close with all of my elementary school teachers. Because of this, I, and other students, learned more than just what was supposed to be taught in the classroom. We learned life lessons. And when we were being taught more traditional academic stuff, we learned better because the teachers knew us, knew who we were, and how we best learned. So, despite many physical challenges with our schools, the close community atmosphere that has hovered around our school district is what has made me and so many others successful. Sorry Ohio Department of Education, it's not all about testing and who scores the best. Going off of that, I think my experiences in school have made me so critical of the testing and standards that teachers are held too nowadays. I have seen the teachers that try their best and hardest, but still have to be affected by the students that can't test well. And it's just that– some people can be extremely smart but be an awful test–taker. And personally, in my school ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Informative Educational Experience Research Paper If someone were to ask me what my most trasformative educational experience was, I would ponder for a moment. Then I would think back to my freshman year in high school, when I had an amazing math er name Mr. Fernandez. His way of teaching would change my high school academic career and pave the way throughout the rest of my time at high school. He was a very thin, tall man who was very soft spoken but could get to the point. The way he taught was different than every other teacher in school. He didnt care if you didnt take notes, were on your phone, or came in late. It was all on you, equivalent to how college professors teach. Of course, in highschool, alot of people abused the fact that he was laidback, but I never did. He would always say, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Educational Experience I'm one of the millions of American students whose first language is not English that had to overcome barriers to fit in. Twenty–two years ago, both of my parents crossed the border illegally in search of a better life leaving behind the growing poverty, crime, and violence. Neither of them finished high school, my mother dropped out of third grade and my father went up to the eighth grade. My parents didn't drop out because they were dumb or lazy, they had to work to support their parents and siblings. Unlike others, my parents had to work the fields from sunrise to dawn with barely enough money to eat. Due to their educational experience, they didn't want that for my sisters and I. One of the first educational experiences I remember is being enrolled in the head start program and my mom having to walk one mile and a half throughout the year's extreme weather. In head start, I remember that I learned how to count to twenty, learned the alphabet in Spanish, and how to write my name ''Veronica''. My mom decided that my sister and I had to learn Spanish first at school for us to properly communicate with them. Honestly, I'm sure I went to Pre–Kinder but don't remember anything as I was transferred to another school halfway through the year. Moving on to Kindergarten made everything interesting as I wanted to follow my sister's steps and felt protected by her. In Kinder, I learned how to read and became a good reader thanks to my younger sisters. For homework, Mrs. Cruz made us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. A Teacher 's Culture, Educational Experience, And Values I. Introduction Just as a teacher's culture, educational experience, and values guide them in the way that they will educate their students, so too do the learning theories which they practice. These theories explore the manner in which students acquire and employ academic skills, and are the foundation for effective teachers. Effective teachers are those who truly believe that they are making a difference in their students' lives and so use the best theories and strategies to help their students attain what God has called them to do. Furthermore, they see each individual as an image–bearer of Christ and not "as objects. Jean Piaget defined an individual's pattern of behavior on thinking as a schema, which can be thought of as a file in the filing cabinet called long term memory. When an individual is presented with new information, they respond by either assimilating the information that is to use an existing schema, or file, to understand the data and thereby incorporate it into the file, or through the process of accommodation of the schema, which is to modify the existing file to incorporate the new information. Vygotsky's theory of learning involves the acquisition of information from others and through direct teaching. His theory of the Zone of Proximal Development suggests that a student learns best when they are given a task that they cannot accomplish alone, but can complete if they receive assistance from a teacher or more experienced peer. Assistance can be in the form of mediation, explanation, modeling, or scaffolding (Slavin, 2015). Reuven Feuerstein, the originator of the theory of structural cognitive modifiability, believed that all children can learn to learn (Turziel, 2014), despite their difficulties. Additionally, he proposed that a student's IQ and "cognitive performance can be significantly modified through mediated learning intervention" (Kozulin, et al., 2010), thus he created a program of Instrumental Enrichment in which a teacher or other trained professional mediates a student through paper and pencil tasks. • 9. My Experience Of The General Educational Experience In... GED Exam I was a 17–year–old pregnant high school dropout the first time I took the General Educational Development (GED) test. It was in the summer of the year 2001 on a beautiful sunny day at our local university. The GED test was to provide me with a high school diploma equivalent. I had months of preparation and practice tests. I was a fast learner and always well prepared. I was confident and very adamant in passing this test. That is, until I got the results of the GED test. The test room scenery made me nervous. The exam room was the size of a small walk in closet. The walls painted white and the floor was a clear white tile. Four cubicles to the right and four on the left side of the wall. A boss steel waiting room chair assigned to each cubicle. Two video cameras located at each end of the room on the ceiling overseeing the cubicles. An intercom speaker at the entrance of the room above the door. The exam booklet and a number two sharp pencil handed to me to begin test. The test covered reading, writing, math, social studies and science. Throughout my time in school and GED preparation, I was very strong in reading, writing and social studies. I struggled in math and science being my least favorite subjects. To my surprise, I did pass math, science, and social studies but failed reading and writing. I was surprised and shocked. I could not comprehend why if they were my favorite subjects and had passed all the practice tests in preparation. How could I have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teaching experience and acceptance of educational technologies, self–efficacy and alienation: Literature Review The relationship between teaching experience, self–efficacy and alienation has received attention from a number of angles in the research literature. Likewise the factors affecting the acceptance of educational technologies have also been investigated, but no study yet examines all factors concurrently. In reviewing the literature it is important to note that these are not isolated factors; for example, a factor contributing to self–efficacy may be a low level of alienation, and the reverse may also be true. • 11. Learning Experience : My Educational Experience In... Culture Shock, the feeling of disorientation experienced by someone who is suddenly subjected to an unfamiliar culture, way of life, or set of attitudes. That's exactly what I felt as I walked into my first day of school in Kindergarten, although at the time I might not have known what I experienced is what it was. Teacher was explaining what we would be learning that year. I remember looking around the classroom at all the different colored and white people. Before I had entered Kindergarten I had generally been surrounded around people like myself who were also Latino, Spanish speaking Catholics. Diversity was something I don't remember been exposed too. So that first day of Kindergarten for me was an eye opening experience. As I surveyed the room I saw only a few people like myself and I began to see Asians, Indians, African Americans, White people, and many more races. Looking back on it now I know it was an early sign of culture shock for my five year old self. My accent was something that I was often embarrassed to let come out. Speaking slowly and really concentrated was the way I tried to hide my accent. Although I tried to make myself sound more like the other kids, my accent often slipped which made me feel compromised. Kindergarten was more than the beginning of my academic journey, but also the beginning of assimilation for me. I felt disadvantaged throughout my time there, I knew that the other kids who grew up only speaking English were the kids that would do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Key Factors Of A Gifted Student 's Educational Experience... Our gifted programming standards take several factors of a gifted student's educational experience into account. Our primary goal is for each gifted student to develop well–rounded academically, socially, and emotionally. To accomplish this goal we integrate our gifted programming standards with the academic standards. We have specific student outcomes with which we use the academic content to accomplish. Student outcomes are grouped into four areas. Cognitive Growth and Talent Development Students benefit from meaningful and challenging learning activities that address their unique characteristics and needs. (Standard 1.6) Students become more competent and develop their abilities. (Standards 3.2 & 3.3) The interventions we use are designed to increase challenge and develop self– efficacy in our students. We operate at the three highest levels of Bloom's Taxonomy: synthesis, evaluation, and analysis. Students use metacognition where they notice their thoughts and record their thinking. This allows us to ratchet–up the level of their thinking through the types of questions we ask. We want our students to become self–regulated learners. We encourage them to set goals and recognize their accomplishments. They learn to self–monitor and adapt to changes using a variety of learning strategies. When we ask students to "leave tracks" in their reading, they are doing a metacogitive

  • 14. My Current Educational Coursework And Field Experiences Reflection #2 Throughout my current educational coursework and field experiences, I have explored and engaged in the use of multiple assessments to gather both formative and summative data to check for student knowledge of the standards. As stated by Bransford (1999), "Assessment should mirror good instruction; happen continuously as part of instruction; and provide information about the levels of understanding that students are reaching." Any type of assessment is an important assessment that helps teachers assess students whether it is a formative or summative assessment. Formative assessments are found throughout instruction all day, every day. A pre–assessment is a formative assessment because it can assist teachers in collecting data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, Summative assessments are an assessments OF student learning. When I say OF student learning I mean, an assessment over a unit, particular skill or standard a teacher needs to assess AFTER her teaching is completed. For example, tests, projects, EOCT, GMAS and other standardized tests are summative assessments. Tomlinson (2013) explains that, "summative assessment suggests that a grade will be given and a student 's performance will be evaluated based, to some degree, on the information elicited." As stated previously, summative assessments are taken for a grade to assess a student's knowledge OF the standards. These assessments also help us see which students got where we needed them to be. Although both assessments are different in many ways, they both have a purpose in a classroom especially when differentiating. According to Teaching Tolerance (2016) Differentiated Instruction (DI) is an approach where teachers proactively plan varied approaches to what students need to learn, how they will learn it and how they express what they 've learned. Assessments are a way to help teachers differentiate by flexible grouping to focus on a particular skill or group students who are on the same level. • 15. My Educational Experience Analysis After graduating high school, I knew that pursuing higher education was going to be very challenging and time demanding but I had enough determination and persistency to achieve my educational goals. My family's support has been crucial and I wouldn't be at the educational level I am right now without their support, specially my mothers'. My father passed away when I was only six years old but despite the struggles we've faced without his support, my mother was able to provide my two sibling and me with a decent quality life. She works as a custodian and her income isn't sufficient to pay for my education and support the family. I decided to search for job opportunities and scholarships that could pay for my college education and help in some needs at home. Being and immigrant was another challenge I faced for attending college. I migrated to the United States from Mexico when I was six years old after my dad was murdered in Mexico. I spoke English but I didn't know how the educational system worked. When I was a senior in high school I didn't understand how the process to attend college worked. I wasn't ... • 16. My Educational Experience In life you will have to go through difficult challenges to become successful. Just as in life you have to fight through obstacles to become better at what you want to accomplish. You will have to be willing to take risks no matter what the situation consists of. My educational experience that took place during my senior year was very difficult for me to face, but I did not give up. I learned that the only way to fix a mistake is to learn from it and try again. Learning is what made me stronger and helped me make great accomplishments. During my last four years at Montclair High, I have always been the kind of student who would always turn in completed work on time. I have always passed my classes with good grades and stayed on task. Being determined and staying focused was my long term goal towards success. However, I came across a situation where I was in danger of failing my economics class. During my senior year I had an economics teacher who had the habit of getting off task. When it came to the test, I felt confused because I did not know what he expected. As soon as I got my test score back, I had received a grade that I did not expect. This was very shocking to me because in my other classes I had always received A's and B's. The reason I would receive these grades was because the teachers were available to stay focused on their lectures. In contrast, because the teacher did not stay focused during his lectures, I received a D on my test. This would not only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The smell of air had changed and it consistently reminded me of these emotions. Now, there I was in this great city all alone, having moved from Nepal to the United States trying to get a quality education. The new education system stunned me. How can things be so different? His classes were so active and engaging that I couldn't help falling in love with English. Me, who once hated English and could not write even a proper paragraph, am now writing an organized, well–formatted college paper. I count this as one of my greatest achievements. Learning is now more about bringing out my potentiality on the piece of paper rather than having to focus and stick to the teacher's ideas. When the class is raised to a discussion on a particular issue everybody is working on, ideas pop out from all around the class forcing me to think from different perspectives. There is always room for me to rectify my misconceptions. The learning experience was suddenly crafted in a way which encouraged me to compete with myself. I found my writing skills getting better and better with every class I attended. After 15 years of ineffective education, I finally found out the reason for my failures in the past and my way in to academic success. The way you feel about education is largely dependent on the educational experiences you've had. As for me, I have had a chance to experience both––one of the best as well as one of the worst. The way education is delivered to the students definitely defines the effectiveness of the education system itself. • 18. Learning Theory, Prior Attachment Experience Within Early... Within this essay there will be a consideration to one key element in detail, with the intention of describing a successful mathematics lesson; with reference to relevant learning theory, prior attachment experience within early years and educational reporters. A mathematics lesson has many key elements to make it successful within an educational setting, such as hands on learning, the use of resources and use of assessment. This essay will have a core focus on children learning through play with regard to Development Matters. (Early Education, 2012). When planning practical learning activities, practitioners may come across some difficulties with regards to equal learning opportunities (Atherton, 2013). These issues may include but are not limited to effective differentiation, assessment and different learning styles. It can be suggested from observations on attachment, it is apparent that adapting learning activities to suit the needs of all children can be difficult but these activities can be adapted such as when using number during play, bigger numbers can be used for the higher ability and smaller numbers for the lower ability, Visser (1993) concurs, stating that teachers can meet the need for progress by selecting appropriate teaching methods to match the individual pupil's learning strategies, within a classroom setting. As children grow they will develop their own, individual learning style and this can be difficult for teachers to provide for, especially in an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Learning And Overall Educational Experience This week, the author sat down with a seventh grade special education student to gain insight on how he feels about his learning and overall educational experience. The student's name is Nate, and he has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) with goals in the areas of reading, writing, math, and behavior, and he has been diagnosed with ADHD. Nate was a new student to the district in August and was adopted within the last year. Since the teacher–student relationship was newly developing, the author staged the interview in a very informal manner. The student and teacher sat across the table from each other and simply chatted back and forth. The author also presented the interview to the student as an opportunity for the teacher to get to know him better since he was new to the district. The first question asked Nate to tell about what things went well for him at his old school. The author had hoped this question would start the interview off on a positive note, but instead, Nate responded with negative comments. He expressed how at his old school he did not feel like he received much help and said he was often confused about what to do and how to do it. He also shared that he did not like reading class because it was boring. However, his last remark indicated that he liked math class because his teachers were fun, and they did a lot of hands on projects in groups. Nate's response to the first question shifted the teacher's focus to how Nate prefers to learn. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Reflection And Educational Differences In The Educational... When we started this eight week course about differentiation I already had a lot of background information on this subject. I did learn a few things about how to help my colleagues jump on the bandwagon of differentiation. By helping my fellow teachers change their mindset towards planning with differentiation in mind I am making a positive difference in my students' educational experience. When differentiation is used properly students are taught lessons in ways that are both meaningful and specific to the students' educational needs. Differentiation is a great tool that teachers can use to help decrease the educational gap between students skills and the grade–level standards that they should be meeting. For this class we had to create a lesson with differentiation in mind. For me this assignment was easy because I already plan my lessons with differentiation in mind. What came naturally with differentiation was differentiating for content, process, and product. Each station that I planned had some sort of differentiation to help students understand the concept that was being taught. Including these extra strategies was easy and did not add any extra time for me to plan. What I found to be more challenging was differentiating with readiness in mind. With 50 plus students in my gymnasium I have a wide range of skill levels. This means that I have to use my pre–assessment data in order to figure who might need more help and who can be pushed a little further to extend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Educational Experience In College describing your purpose for being in college, your educational experience, motivation and attitudes toward learning, your strengths, weaknesses, and academic/career goals. I walk into the house close to around eight– thirty pm, it's pitch black inside my house. Still standing in front of the doorway I call out to see if anyones home. A glowing orange light appears bouncing of the hallway walls and barely brightening up my field of view. It was my mother, she was crying; I asked her why she had a candle in her hand and she had told me that the power, electric, water, and gas had all been shut off. This had been the fourth time in three months. Growing up in my single parent family meant you couldn't receive everything you wanted I will admit that I'm not dirt poor but not by any means close to wealthy, my Mom side of the family is however. My mom graduated high school but never went on to pursue a degree in college. • 23. My Educational Experience INTRODUCTION:When I was fourteen years old, my family and I, traveled to Guatemala as a part of a Common Hope Mission team. For a week I was exposed to extreme poverty, hunger and a culture so different than my own. Through various activities I came to realize just how fortunate I was back at home and how much I took things for granted and became disgusted with how I had been living seeing these people and how they lived. This was an experience that I will never forget, but will never get again because it was so personal and unique. BODY: One of the experiences I had the chance to do was go to a school up in the rolling mountains outside of Antigua. As a group we got the chance to see what education was like for these people, which I had found out was very challenging for them. Kids preschool through high school walked for miles to get any sort of education they could get ahold of whether it was good or bad. It was incredible to see how enthusiastic these kids were about learning and had an impact on me, and made me force the idea that my education was such a privilege to me and that I needed to realize that. BODY: Throughout the week we were there, one of the projects that we had all been working was building a house–a tin roof house. The completed home was the size of two college dorms rooms, but no real kitchen, no running water and no plumbing all while seven family members lived there. On the final day the home was completed, we all blessed the house ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. My Education Experience : My Educational Experience When looking back at my education in the past, I would say that I am happy with my overall experience. I do think that there was some areas that were more challenging than others, but this was a reflection of more than just educational factors. We consider all of the things that happen in our lives and pile them into different experiences. When thinking about specifically my educational experience, I feel accomplished and thankful for the kind of education and support I received a while in school. I am grateful to have only attended one school from Kindergarten to 12th grade, with the exception of having to switch buildings for 9th–12th grade. I am happy to say that the teachers in my past have played a big role in my reasoning for wanting to become a teacher. I remember sitting in a desk and thinking, "This is what I want to do when I get older" during my 4th grade Math class. I was lucky to attend a school that was small in quantity, but not quality. I knew all of my teachers, and future teachers from other grades. I felt lucky to go through school with peers from Grade K–12 and graduate with people I have spent my entire education with. I liked having tutoring resources when needed and feeling like I could help others in need as well. I felt like my school education was like family to me. I think it is important to be comfortable with the teachers and classmates in your school setting. It makes learning and overall class atmospheres less overwhelming and anxious in my opinion. High–stakes tests can have an overpowering feeling during these experiences. It may come easy for some or cause anxiety and frustration for others. Each student is different. Some are great test taker whereas others find testing taking to be a challenge. I think it all depends on the kind of learner you are and the kind of test it is. Some people find midterms and finals to be very stressful. In my opinion, these types of exams are just reviewing what you already learned, in the same class setting you've been taught, most likely. Other high– stakes tests that can be overwhelming could be something like the PAPAs, Praxis, or even the SAT's. • 26. Educational Experience Reflection Paper My educational experience begins in a public school located in the Central Valley. All throughout k– 8, I had the same people in all my classes. There were hardly ever any new students. High school was almost identical. My high school was in a different town but the experience was very similar. The way I was taught was different from my peers in high school. This is parallel to the idea brought up by Hansen. Hansen talks about how all students learn different things even if they are taught the same thing. No longer did I have the same students in all my classes. I was given the opportunity to expand my connections. The big shift in my educational experience occurred when I came to college. College was by far the farthest place I had been from home. It was a culture shock. The community was so diverse compared to my community back home. The population back home was predominantly latinx, more specifically Mexican American. In Berkeley, there were students from all over the state, all over the country, and all over the world. Berkeley had become my exposure to the rest of the world. My worldview was slowly shifting. I got involved in different spaces on campus where I noticed the different communities they served. For instance, I joined the Raices Recruitment and Retention Center where I got to interact with latinx in campus. I had been so used to only interacting with Mexicans. Now, I had the opportunity to interact with Central Americans. I got to know their struggles, their culture, their traditions, and their ideology. As professor Murphy mentions it is of importance to have dialogue with folks and listen to their perspectives. Within this dialogue, it becomes important to recognize differences and learn to find value in them. I noticed similarities in ideology and the differences in traditions. Within those traditions, I saw the context behind them. I saw the beauty in other cultures. The next space I joined was Sigma Pi Alpha. In my sorority, I got to relate to other women struggling in this university. I got to talk to my sisters about their journey to get to cal and the difficulties they've encountered since getting here. One of my sisters was also doing the math major so we talked about our ... As a young girl my parents always told me, they wanted a great educational experience for me. They said no matter what it took to get me into good schools, to have a great education they will do it. My parents worked very hard to give me the opportunity to be in private school my whole life since pre–school. They always told me to work hard, be bright and be bold. The educational level I had being in private school my whole life was amazing. What was amazing about my education level is that I was able to take all college prep. classes, I took an AP Spanish class, my teachers were always on top of us to hand in work in time, essays in my English class were based on a college level writing. It was amazing because my school expanded my mind more on a college based level. • 29. My Personal Experience : My Experience On My Educational... Today I had attended my first class of the Summer 2017 semester. I enrolled into the course EDUC 252 for multiple reasons. One reason for taking this course was that it is a requirement for the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS), an undergraduate degree program at Simon Fraser University (SFU), and this course fit perfectly into my busy schedule this current semester. Another reason for my enrolment into the course EDUC 252 was my pursuit of becoming a teacher. I believe this course will help me as a prospective educator with providing me with various opportunities to develop myself as a reflective practitioner. I have been interested in becoming a teacher for as long as I can remember. Unlike many other children who often had a list of aspirations when growing up, I was adamant on the fact that I wanted to become a teacher and would always announce "when I grow up, I want to be a teacher." I believe this is a result of the positive impact that my former teachers had on my educational experiences. These teachers played a significant role in my life, helping me to build and accomplish my educational goals. Some of these teachers, I still keep in contact with. For example, over the last few months, I have been shadowing and volunteering in my former Kindergarten and Grade 6 and 7 teachers' current classrooms. Prior to attending the class, I was anxious and nervous. Despite this being my third semester at Simon Fraser University (SFU), I still do not know many people and do not have any friends who are also attending SFU, let alone who are also in the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) program. I had recently transferred into SFU from 2 Community College, where I completed my first two years of post secondary education. SFU is a commuter school for me as I live near the University of British Columbia (UBC), so it has been difficult to get involved in SFU community. I make the commute to SFU by choice, as I was also accepted into UBC, but choose SFU after hearing about the fantastic program SFU offered for aspiring educators. I felt that by beginning the class with the Bingo activity, I was pushed out of my comfort zone and encouraged to introduce myself to others in the class. At first it was a little nerve ... • 30. Educational Experience Reflection Paper My name Jose Antonio Cintron, I am a United States Army soldier. I have been in the military for sixteen years, and for the last ten of those years, I have been serving as an attack helicopter pilot. In the following paragraphs, I will guide you through my personal educational experience, where it started, how it transformed to this point and how I want it to progress in the future. At a young age, my mother as a single parent decided to move from Puerto Rico to the United States of America. I don't remember much about that time, but I do recollect being outside playing with children that were speaking a language that was foreign to my ears. Determined not to allow something as insignificant as language stop my need for amusement, so we just communicated by demonstrating what we wanted the other to do. Within a week I was speaking English and interacting with my new–found friends. Luckily this happened during the summer, so it prepared me for starting school a few weeks later. Learning to speak the language came naturally to me. But reading and writing required more effort, so I gravitated to be a hands–on learner while I attempted to catch up with the other students. Moreover, I commenced enjoying visual learning especially at home where I could watch "Sesame Street" when I wasn't playing outside. I recall watching a movie called "Iron Eagles," and for the first time, I knew I desired to become a pilot. As I was finally feeling comfortable with the English language, my ... Here I am again many years later back at it again. This time is totally different than the prior years. I was a part–time student, married, working and raising our children. My major was Criminal Justice and I took classes on campus. At that time the adjustment to going back to college didn't seem difficult to me at all. It almost gave me the feeling of being back in a high school setting. I was able to settle right in even though the majority of my classmates were straight out of high school. This was so different for many in so many ways, I felt like I had a true purpose for being there. I had set educational goals for myself so that I may be more productive in my life skills. When I was in high school I warranted to be there but college was my choice, I wanted more fulfilled educational in my life. I knew that academically enhancing my education was an achievement that I needed to accomplish. I didn't know at that time that there were different types of adult learners, different strategies, styles, categories or models for adult learners. I was able to do my field placement hours at an elementary school that provided numerous opportunities for me to work with kids and gave me a chance to broaden my horizon with some new ideas for teaching. Overall I was able to focus on motivational skills, diversity, testing, I got the chance to work with children with learning disabilities, I was able to see the way the teacher interacted with her students, and much more. I remember the struggles I had during primary school when my instructors taught predominantly through memorization. It was difficult for me to just simply 'memorize' facts or try to learn something in isolation. I needed the opportunity to build upon my prior knowledge of a topic, making connections and associations with other information, and occasionally come back for a refresher on past information. I needed a teacher who not only offered information, but instead was able to encourage linkage of information. This has shaped my own style of teaching and my emphasis on helping students first form a solid foundation of information and progressively build upon that base knowledge to achieve a deeper understanding. In this aspect, my beliefs and style align with those of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. Pestalozzi believed a man learns by action and emphasized repetition following concrete observation (Brühlmeier et al., 2010). School always made me feel anxious, no matter how many friends I made nor how many teachers I liked. Although the anxiety has not gone away, I have learned how to deal with it. My anxiety was caused by my kindergarten teacher. I could never understand the fact that she chose a career in teaching, but disliked children and lacked the patience to deal with them. I remember her class involving her yelling at the class and giving assignments I did not understand. Although I was five years old at the time, I remember her never taking the time to individually work with a student who was struggling with the material. In her class, either you understood it or you struggled until she taught the next topic. I constantly struggled because I was the student that never grasp the material Unfortunately, that was my experience with every teacher I had, until I reached the third grade. I will never forget my third grade teacher. She is the main reason I began to excel in school. My grades began to improve. I did not receive any more possible hold over notices since I took her class. Partially, because she took the time to get to know all of her students. She also added ...
