What is Professional Competency?
How is it Achieved?
How is it important to future career goals?
Competence sets a foundation in school and work. Different skills set you apart, and make
you more of a better candidate for future career opportunities and accolades. Depending
on the job structure, these same competencies will also affect your financial benefits.
When going for a new job references may asked to be provided. These speak to the
characteristics of that person; which can make or break your opportunity in starting a new
career as well. These capabilities are ones that develop overtime through hard work,
dedication, trial, tribulations and being open minded.

  • #3 My ESI. (2014). Retrieved from http://youremployment.biz/competency/competency-mapping/+ Research done on what competency are and what components make up professional competency. -Discussion on future careers and how all skill sets are needed to get a job and maintain that job.
  • #4 *It’s toss up when it comes to my career and what the next set is. I looked at the top 2 I want to explore. Tech and Marketing. I want to find a job that has a mix of both in the position. That would be my ideal job. *For Technical Consultant the results only came back with HP only for the Top employers for the last 12 months. I had to go under the next level jobs and see what other companies were listed. *The Minimum degree level required showed Associates, Bachelors, and Graduates but I only focused on Bachelors.
  • #5 * I added this slide to highlight some of the common skills that each job showed that I would have to possess to be qualified for the job. * Also added my skills based on the different assessments we've taken in this course (Career Interests Profiler, Competencies, Ethical Lens)
  • #6 *I used the Careers tab as my guide for the Career Plan
