Personal Biography
1. Personal Biography
I have a passion for people and a zest of life that is rarely matched! Whether in volunteer
or paid positions I feel strong when I am in front of people presenting ideas opportunities or
emerging trends that will help people step forward into their own greatness, as I place a high
value on people.
The assessment tool Standout 2.0 testifies that my major Strength Role is a Pioneer. As
such, I know that I am a resourceful person and I enjoy seeking out situations where there is no
beaten path. That assessment resonates with me for when I notice systems, policies or procedures
that could be strengthened to produce greater productivity, output and positive results, I am often
one of the first to see the opportunity for improvement, suggest changes and gather others to
develop potential solutions. While activating the Pioneer strength within me I have learned that
although people are drawn to my forward motion I need to ensure that I still move at a pace that
others can follow. I can bring the best of myself in this area of strength where my inquisitiveness
is seen as curious first and critical second.
My passion for better systems and outcomes, coupled with my Pioneering Strength Role
also makes me a great influencer. Myers-Briggs and DISC also testify that influencing is a key
strength of mine (being an ENTJ and having a Classical Inspiration Pattern respectively). As an
influencer I enjoy the opportunity to teach others. In teaching others I realize that people can
only learn from where they are beginning – whether that is knowledge base, skill set or
competency levels. Therefore, when I am teaching individuals I ask them questions to determine
their starting point.
As a Pioneer and Teacher I am also an avid learner. I enjoy multidisciplinary learning and
want to study the most recent trends and best practices of areas that I am currently involved in. I
know that my learning is not just for me but provides me with new techniques that I can pass on
to others to help them become more successful.
My Pioneering and Teacher Strength Roles are best managed when those I report to are
able to dream with me and show enthusiasm for my ideas and my desire to bring positive change.
I will excel where I am given enough freedom to explore new systems but will become slowly
discouraged if these new discoveries, or the idea of discoveries, do not bring excitement to those
that manage me. I am open to other perspectives and simply desire the betterment of the
organization as it strives towards its goals. When I have the opportunity to be a learner and a
teacher I feel honored, empowered, and excited for the possibilities of where we could go
together while taking the organization forward.
