Leadership Philosophy Statement
I believe that leadership is a privilege. It is a privilege that carries with it the responsibility to
inspire others, and to direct them to attain the vision and goals of an organization.
I affirm that the single most important asset of any organization is the staff. As a leader, it is my
responsibility to know them, support their professional development, take an interest in them
as individuals and recognize their achievements. So, to do this, it is crucial that I am
approachable. They need to feel comfortable with both good news and bad ones, so that I am
always in the information flow to be an effective leader.
It is important to empower others to make decisions so that we can develop future leaders.
With this in mind, I will only ask someone to make decisions that are appropriate to their level
of responsibility, or within their ability. I will not want to delegate and micromanage; but I will
trust and verify at appropriate stages. I will guide and support. I will critique, but avoid
criticizing a delegated decision.
It is also my firm believe to lead by example, and actions do speak louder than words. I
welcome the opportunities to work with employees throughout the organization. At the same
time, I am mindful that each of us have unique skills, roles and responsibilities that work
together to achieve the corporate objectives, and bringing the organization to a higher level.
I strive to encourage creativity, innovation and new approaches in line with the mission, vision
and values of the organization. My job is to foster and nurture a culture of out-of-the-box
thinking wherever possible.
As a leader, I need to be decisive, and to maintain a clear communication channel to staff so
that they are aware of exactly why a decision was made. Procrastination often confuses and
discourage people. Hence, it is my aim to eliminate this as much as possible.
I believe that positive affirmations works towards creating a healthy, cheerful and productive
work environment in an organization. As a leader, I see myself as having the responsibility to
recognize and reward contributions, and to ensure that individual and collaborative
achievements are recognized publicly, to serve as encouragement and examples for others to
strive towards.
I believe that the most important job of leadership is to develop leadership and pride within all
levels of our organization. I want every individual in the organization to feelproud of what they
do, understand how their work contributes to the overall well-being of the organization, and
feel that they too can provide leadership as they gain experience and their confidence grows.
