This document summarizes a literature review on performance measurement and improvement of lean manufacturing operations, specifically in the product development industry. It analyzes over 90 papers from the past 23 years based on criteria like whether the model is qualitative or quantitative, includes defined indicators, provides a leanness level assessment, and lean roadmap. The review found a reduced number of papers focused on lean implementation roadmaps and a wide range of studies on lean manufacturing practices. It concludes that this literature review can serve as a reference for future research and help practitioners identify new performance measures and methods to assess lean operations.
