Pacemaker is a high availability cluster resource manager that can be used to provide high availability for MySQL databases. It monitors MySQL instances and replicates data between nodes using replication. If the primary MySQL node fails, Pacemaker detects the failure and fails over to the secondary node, bringing the MySQL service back online without downtime. Pacemaker manages shared storage and virtual IP failover to ensure connections are direct to the active MySQL node. It is important to monitor replication state and lag to ensure data consistency between nodes.

Galera Replication Demystified: How Does It Work?
Galera replication works by synchronizing data across multiple database servers so that any server can accept writes and all servers instantly reflect the new data. It uses global transaction IDs and group communication to replicate write sets in parallel to all nodes, ensuring consistency. Galera Replication Demystified: How Does It Work?
Galera replication works by synchronizing data across multiple database servers so that any server can accept writes and all servers instantly reflect the new data. It uses global transaction IDs and group communication to replicate write sets in parallel to all nodes, ensuring consistency. Any node can join the cluster as long as it knows the cluster name and can find an active member to bootstrap from.

Failure happens, and we can learn from it. We need to think about backups, but also verification of them. We should definitely make use of replication and think about automatic failover. And security is key, but don't forget that encryption is now available in MySQL, Percona Server and MariaDB Server.
Transitioning From SQL Server to MySQL - Presentation from Percona Live 2016
What if you were asked to support a database platform that you had never worked with before? First you would probably say no, but after you lost that fight, then what? That is exactly how I came to support MySQL. Over the last year my team has worked to learn MySQL, architect a production environment, and figure out how to support it alongside our other platforms (Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle). Along the way, I have also come to appreciate the unique offering of this platform and see it as an important part of our environment going forward.
To make things even more challenging, our first MySQL databases were the backend for a critical, web based application that needed to be highly available across multiple data centers. This meant that we did not have the luxury of standing up a simpler environment to start with and building confidence there. Our final architecture ended up using a five node Percona XtraDB Cluster spread across three data centers.
This session will focus on lessons learned along the way, as well as challenges related to supporting more than one database platforms. It should be interesting to anyone who is new to MySQL, anyone who is being asked to support more than one database platform, or anyone who wants to see how an outsider views the platform.

Lately a consortium of web scale users (think a chunk of the top 10 sites out there) have spawned WebScaleSQL.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity server
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.
