the Data
To analyze the situation in this example we must examine the data that we have in
hand:
- The character feels worn down and helpless.
- He feels like there is no meaning in trying to change things
- Many complains reach him even at dawn.
the Problems
In this situation we can notice at least four main problems:
- No boundaries or respect of the personal time of the character.
- Possibly, no effective communication between neighbors.
- Low level of self-efficacy.
- Lack of Social intelligence.
the Action Plan
The action plan that I will propose is based on three major points: Delimitation,
Social Intelligence and Resilience.
1. Delimitation.
The character must set a transparent schedule in which he is available. The timetable
will include periods of time and topics of discussion. This is very important, not only
due to respect of his personal time and space but also for other members
knowledge. They will know when and for what he will be available to help them with.
2. Social Intelligent.
The character must try not to absorb the frustrations, anxiety, negativity and
problems of other members. On the contrary, he must protect himself and adopt a
positive way of analyzing and interpreting things that other members are
communicating. Also, it will be very helpful if he could value the virtues of other
members and help them focus on them.
3. Resilience.
This is a perfect time to learn, adapt and organize an action plan for personal
development and solve some problems in the neighborhood board. He also has to
focus on his strengths and increase his self-efficacy levels.
Furthermore, he must fight back negative emotions or thoughts and use
positive language and expressions. He must visualize a positive outcome,
communicate it and establish goals with other members to achieve them. This way
they will build positive relationships, reach a greater level of functional
communication and promote a healthier neighborhood and community.
