Peace is the most valuable gift from God, without which life becomes worthless. Recent years have shown how invaluable peace is for prosperity and growth. During times of conflict, educational institutions, health services, infrastructure, and the economy all suffered immense damage. History shows that war and brute force never provide a lasting solution and only breed more hatred and turmoil. The use of unrestrained force induces fear but not real peace, as it cannot be sustained indefinitely. Conflicts always leave resentment and result in chaos, destruction, and corruption. Given these lessons, maintaining and promoting peace through non-violent means is now most important for national unity and social harmony. Peace should become the national slogan to build a brighter future

1. Peace Be Our National Slogan
By Rozi Khan Lecturer in English
Allah Almighty has bestowed many blessings on mankind. We must be thankful to Him for all that has been given to us. But, of all the gifts of Allah, “Peace” is such a gift in the absence of which all other things become worthless and a nuisance. Our experiences of the last few years have shown us how invaluable peace is for a harmonious, prosperous and promising life. Peace brings harmony, prosperity, happiness and provides an environment conducive for all kinds of healthy and positive growth. Our memory of the past few years is very bitter, as we lost in it all that we had created and achieved with great labor and trouble after many decades of hard-work. In this very short span of darkness and confusion our educational institutions, our health units, our roads and bridges suffered irreparable damages at the hands of the Children of Night. The economy crumbled down, businesses collapsed, the social and moral fiber of the society received an immense setback.
In view of all that we witnessed in our lives and all that the histories of different nations have shown us, it becomes very clear that war and brute force has never been a durable solution to any problem, but in turn, have engendered new seeds of hate and greater turmoil. The use of unrestrained brute force can only induce fear into the hearts and can never bring viable peace in an area as it cannot be exercised all the time. Wars, conflicts and the use of brute force always create resentment in the hearts of the people and especially those who directly become prey to it, and the result is always chaos, destruction and corruption at all levels.
In light of what I referred to earlier and what all of us have felt and witnessed in the past few years, it is very much necessary that we maintain and promote peace at all costs. It is the call of the moment to search for the solutions of all our problems and disputes through peaceful means and never let go the spirit of kinship and fortitude. In this time of trouble and chaos it is mandatory for our national unity and social harmony to promote peace through preaching for peace and through showing the spirit of sacrifice for our fellow beings. Let us all identify and shoulder our responsibilities and make a resolve, for the sake of our national integrity and a brighter tomorrow that Peace be Our National Slogan.
