1) The Word (Jesus) existed in the beginning with God, and was God. All things were created through Him.
2) John the Baptist came to testify about the light (Jesus). Although Jesus was the true light, John was not the light himself.
3) Jesus came into the world He created, but was not recognized by it. He came to His own people, the Jews, but they did not receive Him. However, all who believed in Him were given the right to become children of God.
Jesus is our decoder pin. He is the interpretation of scriptures, the explanation of the Father, and our example for life. You may believe in Him, but how well do you believe Him?
Based on the Alpha course. Faith is acting on what we believe is true and will happen. Three factors enable us to have faith, the promises of God in the Bible, the reputation of God in the past and the testimony of others and personal experience. Small steps of trust lead to bigger steps.
Our security is based on who Jesus is and what Jesus has done; not who we are or what we do. Throughout the gospel of John we see that to have faith in Jesus is to have eternal life. So if we begin there and end there there is really nothing to worry about as we are securely in Jesus's and the Father's hands.
Names are more than labels, they carry a history. Are you living in a way that you want to be remembered by? Is God calling you to write a "new chapter" in your life?

We've all heard about the younger brother in the story of the prodigal son, but what about the older brother? Take at look at his response to the father's invitation.

To truly calculate the cost, you must consider both the cost of action and the cost of inaction not only for the near term but in the long term. Jesus calls us to a decision. Choose wisely.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
His Name will be Called (part 3) Everlasting Father
1. John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. He was
with God in the beginning. Through Him all
things were made; without Him nothing was
made that has been made. In Him was life, and
that life was the light of men. The light shines in
the darkness, but the darkness has not
understood it.
www.networkbible.org
2. John 1:6-9
There came a man who was sent from God, his
name was John. He came as a witness to testify
concerning that light, so that through him all
men might believe. He himself was not the light;
he came only as a witness to the light. The true
light that gives light to every man was coming
into the world.
www.networkbible.org
3. John 1:10-13
He was in the world, and though the world was
made through Him, the world did not recognize
Him. He came to that which was His own, but
His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who
received Him, to those who believed in His
name, He gave the right to become children of
God—children born not of natural descent, nor
of human decision or a husband’s will, but born
of God.
www.networkbible.org
4. John 1:14-15
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling
among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of
the One and Only, Who came from the Father,
full of grace and truth. John testifies concerning
Him. He cries out saying, “This was He of Whom
I said, ‘He Who comes after me has surpassed
me because He was before me.’”
www.networkbible.org
5. John 1:16-18
From the fullness of His grace we have all
received one blessing after another. For the law
was given through Moses; grace and truth came
through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God,
but God the One and Only, Who is at the Father’s
side, has made Him known.

6. Most of us don’t associate the images of ‘Mighty
God’ and ‘EVERLASTING FATHER’ with Jesus.
Each TITLE ascribed to Jesus says something about
Who He is or what He does.
John 1:1-18 is John’s version
of the CHRISTMAS story.
John wants to make CLEAR
who this baby is.
7. There is more to life than simply LIVING.
Jesus is the source not only of earthly life, but
ETERNAL life.
Jesus is the source of LIFE.
It takes life to BIRTH life.
8. He reveals God that we might KNOW Him.
As God He shows Who God is, as man who we
were DESIGNED to be.
Jesus is the source of LIGHT.
Jesus ILLUMINES our way.
9. He gave is the RIGHT to become children of God.
Jesus is the source of life, light, and a family. In
Him, you can move beyond survival and success to
SIGNFICANCE as you live for the Author of life.
Jesus is the source of a new
FAMILY.
