Pathologic gait is a type of walking pattern that results from impaired
strength, range of motion, pain, or balance, combined with mechanical
compensations.

Antalgic Gait
Theantalgic, or painful, gait is a self-protective walking pattern
that occurs due to injuries in the Lower limb.
The goal is to minimize pain and protect the injured area.

Scissoring Gait
ItResults from tightness or spasticity of bilateral adductors of the hip.
One leg crossed directly over the other with each step like the blades
of a scissor.

Quadriceps Gait
Quadricepsweakness/ paralysis will lead to
bucking of knee during gait cycle.
Patient compensate by either or by placing
the hand to the knee.

High stepping Gait
Also known as Foot drop or slapping gait.
Due to dorsiflexor weakness, there wont be
normal heal strike.
To clear the ground the patient lifts the limb
too high.
