2. Parkour
Parkour is a type of sport used to get over an
obstacle quickly and in style. The word Parkour
comes from the word French ' parcours' which
literally mean the way through or 'the path'. Parkour
is a way to move from part a to part b using the
obstacles or objects in your way to increase your
speed and efficiency. When people hear about
Parkour they think its really dangerous but honestly
there is about 30-50 serious Parkour accidents a
year when there is nearly 1.3 million deaths or
serious Injuries a year from car accidents.
3. What I've Learnt
During Passion Projects I've already learnt so much, I've learnt
precession, the wall run, different vaults, tic tac, safety role and much
more. Carl and I have made an iMovie showing what I've learnt and how
Carl teachers
4. What I Need To Improve On
I think I mostly need to improve on the tic tac and wall run. The main
reason why I've had some difficulty with these two forms of Parkour is
because there isn't many places where you can practice these particular
skills. To be honest the school isn't the most beneficial place to practice
Parkour mostly skills including running up walls in style or even
normally.
5. Tic tac
The Tic tac was probable one of the easiest but what we were
doing isn't a proper tic tac. A proper tic tac is when you run
and leep of a wall using all your momentum and face the
opposite way to the wall to continue onto the next one. This
was the 2nd skill of Parkour that I've learnt during Passion
Projects
6. Precision
Precision is when you jump off
something and land on a flat
surface with holding perfect
balance. Lots of people make a
Big Bang when they land but a
trick to land quietly is to land on
the soul of your foot. Most of the
time when using precision your
moving at high speeds which is
one reason why it is hard to be
quiet while landing especially
when the spot where you are
landing on is slim.
7. Safety Roll
A safety roll is used to take the pressure off your feet
and helps preventing you from getting ground
shock. It also can help your feet and body from the
impact, but you need to make sure you roll on the
side of your body because you can hurt or injure
your neck or head
8. Vaults
A vault is a form of Parkour by getting over an object or
obstacle without using your feet and just using your
hands. A vault is also quicker then having to walk
around when you don't necessarily need to. Vaulting is
also
9. My Evaluation
I feel incredible about what I have
achieved, I can now use my skills
like if I'm in a competition or a
friendly challenge with friends. I
think I've done great and hope that
some day I could teach Parkour or
be a Parkour Instructor.
I'd like to say thank you to Carl for
helping me get to where I am and
hope to someday be as good as
him.
