The Captain of our salvation is interceding for His people. He is not a petitioner moving the Father's compassion, but a conqueror, who claims the trophies of His victory.
Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25.
The great Captain of our salvation has conquered in our behalf, that through Him we might conquer, if we would, in our own behalf. But Christ saves none against their choice. He compels none to obedience. Jesus made the infinite sacrifice that His followers might overcome in His name and His righteousness be imputed unto them.

John 3:1-5. A New Life In Christ. In the new life we have been born again. In the new life we are a new creation. In the new life we crucify the flesh with its passions and desires. In the new life we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. In the new life we are renewed by the Holy Spirit. In the new life we are dead to sin but alive to God. In the new life we are washed from our sins. in the new life we put to death the old man and put on the new man. In the new life we died and our life is hidden with Christ in God. In the new life we were brought back from death in sin.
Lesson 19 of 26 in a series of New Testament Vistas. This sermon on Romans 5-8 was presented May 6, 2012, at Palm Desert Church of Christ, by Dale Wells.
Do you not know: we are baptized into Jesus' death, you are a slave of sin or righteousness, as Christians we are dead to the law, the spirit of God dwells in you, a little sin spreads through the whole body, saints will judge the world, the unrighteous will not be in heaven, those who preach the gospel deserve payment, we should run the christian race to win, Christ in in you, friendship with the world is enmity with God.

What is our moral compass? Everyone has some theological moral compass. As a Christian, our moral compass should be the word of God. Many in the world use television, social media, the teachings of men, parents, or their college professor as their guideline for formulating their moral compass. How do Christians point the way to Christ and His word as a compass of right and wrong?

Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

5. 12 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live
according to the flesh— 13 for if you are living according to the flesh,
you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of
the body, you will live. 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God,
these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery
leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as
sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself
testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children,
heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer
with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

6. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens
will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with
intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. 11 Since
all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people
ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and
hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens
will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense
heat! 13But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens
and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

7. 15 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the
world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of
life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 The world is
passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God
lives forever.

8. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under
grace? May it never be! 16 Do you not know that when you present
yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the
one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience
resulting in righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that though you
were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of
teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from
sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human
terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you
presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness,
resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as
slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.

9. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to
righteousness. 21 Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from
the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those
things is death. 22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to
God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the
outcome, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift
of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
