The document describes the Salina Legacy Park Fund, which allows private citizens and groups to donate money to fund small park enhancement projects. Donors can choose from 2-3 pre-selected projects each year to support. Donations are recognized with the donor's name on a leaf on the donor tree at City Hall. The 2014 projects highlighted are trail enhancements adding benches and landscaping to trails, and redesigning the entrance to Oakdale Park with sustainable landscaping.
Dear friends,
Last year was particularly challenging for all of us at TBI.
This year, thankfully, we are in a happier and healthier place.
The challenges that TBI faces every year, however, do not change.
As we deliver wonderful services and programs for members, the costs increase. In fact, the cost to offer many of our programs is beyond the amount we receive from membership fees.
That is why we hold two appeals annually.
These images show activities that makes our community truly special, we would love if you could contribute to the continued success of our community.

Public spaces how to save our urban backyardscraigslist_fndn
In San Francisco and across the country, recreation and parks budgets have suffered greatly as municipal funding have been cut across the board. In order to sustain our public space and maintain a high quality of urban life, we need to consider new options to grow revenue from both private and public sources, and engage a new generation of volunteers concerned with enhancing community health and beauty.

Up the Ratios Bylaws - a Comprehensive Process of Our Organizationuptheratios
Up the Ratios is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in STEM education for underprivileged students by providing free, high-quality learning opportunities in robotics and other STEM fields. Our mission is to empower the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and problem-solvers by offering a range of educational programs that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
At Up the Ratios, we believe that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, should have access to the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in today's technology-driven world. To achieve this, we host a variety of free classes, workshops, summer camps, and live lectures tailored to students from underserved communities. Our programs are designed to be engaging and hands-on, allowing students to explore the exciting world of robotics and STEM through practical, real-world applications.
Our free classes cover fundamental concepts in robotics, coding, and engineering, providing students with a strong foundation in these critical areas. Through our interactive workshops, students can dive deeper into specific topics, working on projects that challenge them to apply what they've learned and think creatively. Our summer camps offer an immersive experience where students can collaborate on larger projects, develop their teamwork skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
In addition to our local programs, Up the Ratios is committed to making a global impact. We take donations of new and gently used robotics parts, which we then distribute to students and educational institutions in other countries. These donations help ensure that young learners worldwide have the resources they need to explore and excel in STEM fields. By supporting education in this way, we aim to nurture a global community of future leaders and innovators.
Our live lectures feature guest speakers from various STEM disciplines, including engineers, scientists, and industry professionals who share their knowledge and experiences with our students. These lectures provide valuable insights into potential career paths and inspire students to pursue their passions in STEM.
Up the Ratios relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue our work. Contributions of time, expertise, and financial support are crucial to sustaining our programs and expanding our reach. Whether you're an individual passionate about education, a professional in the STEM field, or a company looking to give back to the community, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
We are proud of the positive impact we've had on the lives of countless students, many of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. By providing these young minds with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, we are not only changing their futures but also contributing to the advancement of technology and innovation on a broader scale.

2. To help insure that future genera-
tions in Salina will have a well de-
veloped park system that everyone
can enjoy, the Salina Tree Advisory
Board and the City of Salina are
establishing the Salina Legacy Park
Fund. This program will enable
private citizens or groups to donate
money for the funding of small park
enhancement projects that will
benefit all park users. These pro-
jects will range from creating small
gardens and landscaped areas to ac-
cessible fishing areas and walking
paths. The type of projects is end-
less, but all will add to the beauty
and accessibility of our park sys-
tem. Each year the Park and Rec-
reation Department with approval
of the Salina Tree Advisory Board
and the Salina Parks and Recreation
Committee will select two or three
projects that could be funded
through the Salina Legacy Park
Fund. Donors will be able to
choose the project they would like
their money to go to. A small brass
leaf will be added to the donor tree
at the City County Building to rec-
ognize each donation and the pro-
ject itself will be signed that it was
funded in part by the Salina Legacy
Park Fund.
SALINA LEGACY PARK FUND
Trail Enhancements
Goal: $8,000
Over the last few years, the City
has developed and improved a
number of trails. New trails have
been constructed in Bill Burke and
Indian Rock Parks, and on the
south side of town. The existing
levee trail has been improved in
various areas. However, many of
these areas lack enhancements.
This project area would provide
benches, waste receptacles, and
landscaping to create an enjoyable
place to relax and to enhance the
appearance of the trail.
Entrance at Oakdale Park
Goal: 3,000
This project would completely re-
design the northeast entrance to
Salina’s oldest and most developed
park. This area has long needed
landscaping that would be attrac-
tive and compliment the existing
Oakdale Botanical Gardens. The
use of perennial flowers, shrubs,
and trees, in addition to a new
lighted park sign would make it a
more sustainable landscape.
