The 60 minute lesson includes warm up activities like singing songs, reading a short story about greetings, working with word and picture cards, making a puzzle craft, and reviewing with gestures and songs. The objectives are for students to improve listening comprehension, vocabulary, communication skills, and motivation for learning English through methods like Total Physical Response and a communicative approach. Lessons from the ♥ of Borneo - TFM Sarawak Regional Event (2015)Jarod Yong
These were the slides I used in the "Lessons from the ♥ of Borneo" workshop during the Teach For Malaysia Sarawak Regional Event 2 on 16 May 2015.
Roughly 30 teachers were involved with the 90 minute workshop.
The slides contain information about my school, concepts, pedagogies & activities focused on engaging low performing students, as well as my experiences/programmes carried out in my remote school.

1. Good morning!!!
Welcome to my English blog. I am going to show your how the children can learn
and improve their listening and reading.
This time I have chosen greetings for the first days of the first year of a Primary
school. I decided this topic because I would like to start the year with some polite
vocabulary, that in my opinion, is necessary to have a polite conversation.

8. CRAFTS
Making a puzzle:
REVIEW
After practicing the vocabulary a few times...
The best way is to get the kids in a group, sat on the floor pretending to be asleep. Then you
start the music.
9. You shout out "Good morning", the kids reach up and stretch whilst replying "Good morning".
You then say "Good afternoon" and they stand up whilst replying.
Similarly for "Good evening".
10. Then when you say "Good night", the kids all fall back on the floor asleep!
For the “nice to meet you” the kids all mingle together and sing each "nice to meet you" to a
different person!
This song is great as a warm up, It's very fun!
Finally listen the song again and do the gestures according with the meaning
