PAN card is a 10-digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department in India on a laminated card. It is required for filing income tax returns, operating a demat account, depositing or withdrawing more than Rs. 50,000 from banks, purchasing or selling immovable property or securities over Rs. 50,000. To obtain a PAN card, an applicant must submit Form 49A or 49AA along with ID proof, address proof, and date of birth proof to a PAN facilitation center. A PAN card is normally delivered within 2-3 weeks but a Tatkal PAN card can be obtained more quickly by applying online.

3.  Permanent Account Number (PAN) refers to a ten-digit
Alphanumeric Number, issued in the form of a laminated card, by
the Income Tax Department in India.

4.  PAN card is issued by the Indian Income Tax Department under
the protection of the Central Board for Direct Tax (CBDT) and is
almost equivalent to a National Identification Number.

7. Person need to submit his/her details in Form No. 49A (Indian Citizens)
and Form No. 49AA ( Foreign Citizens) to any of the PAN Facilitation
Centre located in all cities and major towns, wherever Income Tax
Offices are located.
It will normally takes about 2 to 3 weeks to get your PAN Card delivered
at your doorstep.
If a person need a PAN Card urgently, he/she may also get TATKAL
PAN Card by Applying Online using your Credit Card.

11. The acknowledgement duly signed, affixed
with photograph ( in case of “Individuals” )
along with Demand Draft, if any, and proof
of identity, proof of address and proof of
date of date of birth as specified in the
application form is to be sent to NSDL at
“Income Tax PAN Service Unit, NSDL e-
Governance Infrastructure Limited, 5TH
