Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was founded on November 30, 1967
by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who became its first chairman and later Prime
Minister of Pakistan.

has been active in Pakistani politics since the separation of East

8. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s Achievements.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto heading as Prime Minister brought about many
reforms the molded and safeguarded the position of Pakistan on the
map.

• Bhutto raised salaries and wages in order the protect consumers
from the increasing prices.
• Bhutto brought in many reforms aiding Pakistan’s society. Such as,
Social or Educational Reforms (1972) through which he made
education compulsory and free till grade 10.
• In 1975 Bhutto further introduced the Labor Law Ordinance in order
to satisfy the militant labor force of Pakistan.

Bhutto’s constitution won the hearts of many. He believed in fair
democracy hence, stated that elections would be direct, each
province was entitled to have complete autonomy, minorities were to
be provided with heavy protection (for which he also acted upon the
Qadiyaani issue) and Electoral System was made separate.

Pakistan Peoples Party had firmly planted its roots in the hearts of the
Pakistani Awaam hence, went forth to get nominated as the
government of Pakistan for the second time, in 1975. But false
allegations were made against PPP for rigging the elections and
martial law was enforced by General Zia Ul Haq. Bhutto was given a
life sentence even after the public showed great agitation. This
unaccountable loss to Pakistan sunk the hearts of many.
12. Bhutto’s Achievements
• After the tragic death of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1977, his daughter;
Mohtarmah Benazir Bhutto returned to her home country to carry
forth the dreams of her father by assuming leadership of PPP in
1978.
• Benazir Bhutto was then elected as the first female prime
minister of Pakistan .
• Bhutto’s daughter was defeated in the elections held in 1990.

• History was attempted to be repeated once more by her father’s
enemies by further false allegations.
• But Benazir gallantly won the elections held in 1993 due to her
determination to bring forth her father’s ideology.
• Benazir Bhutto successfully brought about a positive change and
went on to be equally popular as her father

• Benazir Bhutto gave the same importance to education as her
father. She recognized the importance of education after spending
much of her time acquiring it in London.
• Benazir Bhutto was once again falsely convicted of corruption and
was given a sentence of three years.
• In 2002 she reaffirmed her position as the leader of Pakistan’s
Oldest Political Party and directed PPP from abroad

• The brave leader returned in 2007 after President Musharraf granted
amnesty on all the false allegations against her.
• It had become clear that the Bhutto family opponents were not in favor
of letting Benazir succeed entirely in her journey to build a Naya
Pakistan.
• On 27th December of 2007, Mohtarmah Benazir Bhutto earned the title;
Shaheed. As she was leading a political rally in Rawalpindi, she was shot
in the head heartlessly by an attacker who immediately blew himself up
prior to shooting his target.
17. After Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto
• The loving husband of Benazir; Asif Ali Zardari, willingly took
charge of PPP in order to console the broken hearts of the
devastated supporters, , he won the Presidential elections and
became the 11th president of Pakistan on 6th September 2008.
Zardari completed his presidential period successfully. He brought
around many benefits that cannot be ignored.

• Currently, Asif Ali Zardari is accompanied by his son; Bilawal
Bhutto Zardari, who are making combined efforts to win 2018
elections to continue making a Naya Pakistan.
