This document provides an introduction to a book about volunteer work at the Quezon City Jail in the Philippines. It discusses how volunteerism through the Pahinungod Diliman program typically focuses on helping children or the environment, but some volunteers also wish to help those seen as "criminals" by serving the inmates at Quezon City Jail. The introduction aims to provide a new perspective on prisoners and their lives inside jail to promote greater understanding of them and their situation. It also thanks various volunteers, coordinators, and partners who have supported the jail program over seven years and helped actualize the University's mission of serving the people.
