Pablo de Sarasate was a renowned Spanish violinist and composer born in 1844 in Pamplona, Spain. He studied violin from a young age with his father and later at music academies. Sarasate had great success performing across Europe and America in the late 19th century. Some of his most famous works include the fantasy Zigeunerweisen and the Carmen Fantasy. He bequeathed his valuable Stradivarius violin to a French museum upon his death in 1908.
