  1. 3. The Most Famous Artist of the 20th Century <ul><li>Full Name: Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Clito Ruiz y Picasso </li></ul><ul><li>Born October 25, 1881 – </li></ul><ul><li>Died April 8, 1973. </li></ul>

Biography <ul><li>PICASS0 was born in Málaga on the 25 th of October 1881. </li></ul><ul><li>His father was a painter and he taught arts </li></ul><ul><li>Started to paint very young and when he was fourteen years old started a proper arts school in Barcelona. </li></ul><ul><li>In 1901 moved to Paris and he started to make sculptures and also designed clothes for theatre. </li></ul>
  3. 5. <ul><li>In 1907 paints “Les demoiselles d’Avignon” that was the beginning of CUBISM. </li></ul><ul><li>PICASSO was a sculptor, ceramics, drawer, poet, mask maker... </li></ul><ul><li>He was greatly recognised during his life. </li></ul><ul><li>He died in Paris in 1973. </li></ul>

  5. 8. <ul><li>Picasso is considered the greatest artist of the 20th century and one of the most influent in the development of modern art. </li></ul><ul><li>There are more than 1500 of his works in museums around the world. </li></ul>

  7. 10. Picasso’s blue period <ul><li>Picasso used blue colours, all his works are very sad. In this pictures there are long figures mainly from tramps and street people. </li></ul>
  8. 11. Picasso’s Pink period <ul><li>This is a happier period, Picasso paints clowns and circus scenes using brighter colours. </li></ul>
  9. 12. Cubism <ul><li>Picasso looks for a pure paint and he starts by observing objects in an intellectual way in his study. He paints the objects looking for the basic geometric shapes in it. </li></ul>
  10. 13. Surrealism <ul><li>In this period Picasso uses deformed shapes, representing monsters and mythological figures, His sculptures were made of metallic threads and cards. </li></ul>
  11. 14. EXPRESIONISM -El Guernica- <ul><li>Picasso shows his hate of war and the bombing of Guernica’s population during the Spanish civil war. </li></ul>
