The document is a sermon about overcoming worry based on Matthew 6:25-34. It discusses how worry is human nature but that God sees us as valuable and wants us to trust in him rather than worry. It notes that worry immobilizes us but concern can move us to action. We are urged not to worry about basic needs like food and clothing because God provides for birds and flowers in nature and will also provide for our needs if we seek his kingdom and righteousness.
A study on Matthew 6:19-34 showing how our heart, motivation and focus should be on the Kingdom and how our trust in the Father's promise to provide for all our needs ought to lead to giving to the poor.

Why do so many Christians doubt or worry? The bible gives us clear evidence that doubt and worry are without merit. We doubt that God knows us or cares about us but Jesus says that He knows the very hairs on our head! We doubt we can endure what life throws at us but Paul tells us that we will not be tempted above our ability to withstand. We doubt our salvation but Paul says there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus!
Overcoming worry by trusting in the character of GodLionel Rattenbury
Trusting in God and becoming dependant upon him is one of the important keys to living in God's perfect peace. Pastor Lionel Rattenbury shares about how we can trust in the character of God.
This is a study of Jesus as our worry advisor. He said a lot about the worthlessness of worry, and He had a lot to worry about for His future. He just didn't waste His time on it.

Life. It's chaotic. Unpredictable. Sometimes messy. In the middle of it all what you think about God and what you think God thinks about you can really make a lot of difference. During this series we will explore some of the things about God that we wish everyone knew. Delivered August 6, 2017 at Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church, www.mympumc.net for sermon video and notes
Dear sisters and brothers,
Do you trust your God? Accumulating... and accumulating and setting aside so many things for the far distant future and yet you have no joy is a sign of distrust.
Fr. Cielo
To truly calculate the cost, you must consider both the cost of action and the cost of inaction not only for the near term but in the long term. Jesus calls us to a decision. Choose wisely.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. Matthew 6:25
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what
you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you
will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body
more than clothes?”
Worry is very much HUMAN nature.

Jonah
3. Matthew 6:26
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or
store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father
feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than
they?”
God sees us as VALUABLE.
4. Matthew 6:27
“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to
your life?”
Worry IMMOBILIZES, but concern moves you TO
ACTION.
All we have to do is TRUST and BELIEVE in Him.
5. Matthew 6:28-32
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the
flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his
splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how
God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today
and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not
much more clothe you – you of little faith? So do not
worry, saying ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we
drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ for the pagans run
after all these things, and your heavenly father knows
that you need them.”
6. Reasons not to worry:
1) The same God who created life in you can be trusted
with the DETAILS of your life.
2) Worrying about the FUTURE hampers your effect
for TODAY.
3) Worrying is more HARMFUL than HELPFUL.
4) God does not IGNORE those who depend on him.
5) Worrying shows a lack of FAITH in and
understanding God.
7. Matthew 6:33
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and
all these things will be given to you as well.
Worrying keeps us from REAL CHALLENGES God
wants us to pursue.
8. Matthew 6:34
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow
will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble
of its own.”
Living ONE DAY at a time keeps us from being
consumed with worry.
