My Birth Control: Engaging Patients and Providers in Shared Decision-Making A...
MyBirthControl is an interactive tablet-based decision support tool created to promote a shared decision-making approach to birth control counseling that is rooted in patients' preferences. The tool, designed by the Program in Woman-Centered Contraception at UCSF in collaboration with Bedsider.org, is meant to be used by patients before a clinical visit, aimed to help people choose a birth control method that they are happy with. We have adapted MyBirthControl to meet the needs of patients in post-abortion and postpartum care settings, where additional information related to birth control in these specific clinical contexts is provided. Both versions emphasize that the tool is meant to help the user pick a birth control method ONLY if they want to. The goal of these adaptions is to promote patient-centered contraceptive counseling in these settings.

MICYRN is a Canadian non-profit organization established in 2011 to reduce barriers and duplication of effort in multi-jurisdictional pediatric research, particularly for rare diseases. Rare diseases affect over 2.7 million Canadians but each affects fewer than 2000 individuals. MICYRN works to improve diagnosis of rare diseases and develop new therapies through national research networks and collaborating in international research initiatives. MICYRN also supports patient registries and clinical trials infrastructure to study rare diseases and determine drug safety and effectiveness in children through its research informatics platform and partnerships with health organizations and industry.
USING EQUIST FOR BOTTLENECK ANALYSIS
1) Cameroon conducted bottleneck analyses in 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 using the EQUIST tool to identify barriers to health coverage and prioritize interventions.
2) The EQUIST tool assesses coverage determinants for deprived populations and prioritizes bottlenecks to address.
3) The 2015-2016 analysis involved multiple stakeholders and provided a more quantitative analysis of severity of bottlenecks compared to previous analyses.

The KabehoMwana consortium implemented child survival programs in Rwanda from 2007-2011, covering 20% of the country. It was a partnership between Concern Worldwide, the International Rescue Committee, and World Relief to reduce child mortality. Each agency led programs in two districts with technical support from other members. The consortium approach strengthened implementation through shared resources, learning, advocacy, and expanded scale. However, individual agency visibility decreased over the branded program. Maintaining principles like transparency, communication and respect between diverse partners was key to success but also challenging.

Although not oriented as an emergency response advocacy alliance, the FHWC membership mobilized to simultaneously spotlight local frontline health workers needs in West Africa and call for greater attention to the centrality of well trained and supported frontline health workers to building resilient health systems from the community level.

Strategic IT Planning: Your 3-Step Process
Introduction
Strategic IT Planning is required to ensure your resources and assets continue providing the results and the support your organization needs.
What is a Strategic Plan?
It is a roadmap to achieving a goal. It may cover your entire department or responsibility or it may focus on a specific issue or element of your role. It can be long and involved or a simply one-page document that provides guidance and steps you need to implement to achieve a goal.
Making it Happen
There are a few things that are important to your success. While it may seem that developing the Strategic Plan is the hardest part, most plans fail because of the implementation. The key is to keep it small and be successful, then build on that success for the next initiative. Don’t bite off too much or try to be too ambitious.
• Take your time and keep it manageable
• Link your plan to your company’s strategy
• Justify your initiative and get buy-in and support
• Don’t re-invent, rebuild
• Go slow, manage change
• Set aside time from your operational responsibilities to make it happen
Without a Strategic Plan, you and your team won’t be effective and you won’t be able to get results, get attention and get ahead.
Why you need an IT Strategy:
Redirect from tasks to opportunities and result
· Switch from fighting fires to preventing fires
· Reduce risk with planning and a longer view
Most Strategic Plans never get written or they fail because they are too involved and complex. Keep them simple and use these three basic steps as your core approach. Ask yourself these questions:
1. Why do you need to do it? What is your goal?
2. What are the things you need to get done to achieve your goal?
3. How can you make those things happen?
By following the 3 steps above and writing them down, you will have the outline of your Strategic IT Plan. Then, you establish the tactical things that will help you implement your plan.
Implementation Plan
Once you have established your strategic plan using the 3-step process, you need to develop your implementation plan. This includes getting approval and resources as well as the steps you need to take to achieve your strategic objective.
1. Set the objective for each step
2. Analyze internal/external factors
3. Develop solutions
4. Identify and eliminate barriers
5. Allocate resources (people, time, money)
6. Develop detailed tasks
7. Implement your plan!

Strategic IT Planning is required to ensure your resources and assets continue providing the results and the support your organization needs.
What is a Strategic Plan?
It is a roadmap to achieving a goal. It may cover your entire department or responsibility or it may focus on a specific issue or element of your role. It can be long and involved or a simply one-page document that provides guidance and steps you need to implement to achieve a goal.
Making it Happen
There are a few things that are important to your success. While it may seem that developing the Strategic Plan is the hardest part, most plans fail because of the implementation. The key is to keep it small and be successful, then build on that success for the next initiative. Don’t bite off too much or try to be too ambitious.
• Take your time and keep it manageable
• Link your plan to your company’s strategy
• Justify your initiative and get buy-in and support
• Don’t re-invent, rebuild
• Go slow, manage change
• Set aside time from your operational responsibilities to make it happen
Without a Strategic Plan, you and your team won’t be effective and you won’t be able to get results, get attention and get ahead.
Why you need an IT Strategy:
Redirect from tasks to opportunities and result
· Switch from fighting fires to preventing fires
· Reduce risk with planning and a longer view
Most Strategic Plans never get written or they fail because they are too involved and complex. Keep them simple and use these three basic steps as your core approach. Ask yourself these questions:
1. Why do you need to do it? What is your goal?
2. What are the things you need to get done to achieve your goal?
3. How can you make those things happen?
By following the 3 steps above and writing them down, you will have the outline of your Strategic IT Plan. Then, you establish the tactical things that will help you implement your plan.
Implementation Plan
Once you have established your strategic plan using the 3-step process, you need to develop your implementation plan. This includes getting approval and resources as well as the steps you need to take to achieve your strategic objective.

Technology can be so important to the implementation of change in many projects. Without the use of the internet and either computers or tablets we would not be able to research information that has been previously found or collected on the subject of change. For instance, my project of change was about childhood obesity, and the CDC and other organizations have posted data research showing that this has been and increasing epidemic for the last three decades. Without the help of this type of this technology resources we would always be starting from step one and never getting to finish the research based off of already completed information.
Another source of technology that can be used to help treat this epidemic is the use of an APP for a type of wireless device. This give parents the opportunity for new and innovative ways of approaching childhood weight control. The aim for this type of technology advance is to “systematically design and develop a theory and evidence-driven, user-centered healthy eating app targeting parents for childhood weight management, and clearly document this for the research and app development community.” (Curtis, Lahiri, & Brown, 2015) This is still a work in progress but it is something that relates to this technology driven population now a day. I don’t know if I would personally use this part of the technology because this can be subject to user error but as far as using research to support my ideas and recommendations to help treat this epidemic, that would be hands down the best part of technology available to myself.

Global Healthcare Innovation: A Framework for Implementation
As populations increase, health resources shrink, and access and quality of life equity differences widen, the clarion call for innovation in healthcare is growing louder around the world. Both international groups such as the World Health Organization and national groups, e.g., ministry of health, continue to set aggressive goals and billions have been spent to design and implement global health innovations.
Many global health innovations (GHI) have set high goals but had limited success in implementation or never scaled to serve a wider population. The barriers to implementing global healthcare innovations include policies or political priorities, lack of commitment, limited infrastructure, and limited healthcare staff. Some health entrepreneurs have overcome such barriers; Yet other, well intentioned and planned GHI have not met expectations.
Although some articles provide suggestions for avoiding, overcoming and addressing these barriers, few offer new models for global health innovation. In this research, we offer a four component model that considers the adoptive community, implementation team, the delivery strategy and the delivery approach as key enablers for successful GHI. It implemented a central line bundle from IHI, focusing on hand hygiene and using chlorhexidine swabs to clean catheter hubs. This reduced the infection rate. When ethanol swabs replaced the chlorhexidine swabs temporarily, the rate rose again. Permanently using chlorhexidine swabs maintained the lower rate. The creation of community health promotion and education programs takes into consideration several agencies or parties who help in the achievement of the desired health goals. Each of the partners will address its roles using different approaches depending on their area of expertise. This is an important factor to consider as different institutions address health promotion using different approaches and perspectives. The overall outcome from the contribution of every partner should be able to restore and promote the physical, emotional, spiritual, psychological, and social wellness of the community in relation to the health issue being suffered (Minelli, & Breckon, 2009). Chronic diseases are currently the leading causes of death in the community due to their complexity and the severe effects on human health. The community health promotion and education program will be provided by the ‘Health Concerns Coalition’ which will be made up of the following partners; community religious groups, Cancer Supportive Care Foundation, an association of cancer-survivor patients, nutritional organizations, and the local authority.
1. Cancer Supportive Care Foundation – This is an important part of the coalition as it will offer technical expertise in education and diagnosis of chronic diseases. The foundation team will include medical experts who will diagnose the community members of any chronic illnesses. Examinations for diseases such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes and blood pressure will be conducted by this partner as they will provide modern machines needed for the diagnosis of chronic illnesses.
