NoSQL is not just about different storage alternatives such as document store, key value store, graphs or column-based databases. The hardware is also getting much more important. Besides common disks and SSDs, enterprises begin to use in-memory storages more and more because a distributed in-memory data grid provides very fast data access and update. While its performance will vary depending on multiple factors, it is not uncommon to be 100 times faster than corresponding database implementations. For this reason and others described in this session, in-memory computing is a great solution for lifting the burden of big data, reducing reliance on costly transactional systems, and building highly scalable, fault-tolerant applications. The session begins with a short introduction to in-memory computing. Afterwards, different frameworks and product alternatives are discussed for implementing in-memory solutions. Finally, the main part of this session shows several different real world uses cases where in-memory computing delivers business value by supercharging the infrastructure, e.g. to accelerate services, handle spikes in processing or ensure fault tolerance and disaster recovery.

NoSQL is not just about different storage alternatives such as document store, key value store, graphs or column-based databases. The hardware is also getting much more important. Besides common disks and SSDs, enterprises begin to use in-memory storages more and more because a distributed in-memory data grid provides very fast data access and update. While its performance will vary depending on multiple factors, it is not uncommon to be 100 times faster than corresponding database implementations. For this reason and others described in this session, in-memory computing is a great solution for lifting the burden of big data, reducing reliance on costly transactional systems, and building highly scalable, fault-tolerant applications. The session begins with a short introduction to in-memory computing. Afterwards, different frameworks and product alternatives are discussed for implementing in-memory solutions. Finally, the main part of this session shows several different real world uses cases where in-memory computing delivers business value by supercharging the infrastructure, e.g. to accelerate services, handle spikes in processing or ensure fault tolerance and disaster recovery.

In retail, deep learning models "quickly scan and analyze in-store imagery to intuitively determine inventory movement."
Voice recognition: "The ability to receive and interpret dictation or to understand and carry out spoken commands. Models are able to convert captured voice commands to text and then use natural language processing to understand what is being said and in what context." In transportation, deep learning "uses voice commands to enable drivers to make phone calls and adjust internal controls - all without taking their hands off the steering wheel."
Anomaly detection: "Deep learning technique strives to recognize abnormal patterns which don't match the behaviors expected for a particular system, out of millions of different transactions. These applications can lead to the discovery of an attack on financial networks, fraud detection in insurance filings or credit card purchases, even isolating sensor data in industrial facilities signifying a safety issue."

This video explores why a single real-time pipeline, called Kappa architecture, is the better fit for many enterprise architectures. Findings point to more intelligent systems operating on information supporting humans engaged in complex tasks that require knowledge to make decisions; more use of collaborative and social technologies to mediate the time and space problem of distributed and even asynchronous work around the globe; and much more networked computation operating in the world at large.

This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
