We at Children's Learning Center Montessori take early childhood education very seriously. It has been proven that the first seven years constitute the formative period when an individual’s patterns for subsequent learning and behavior are established. We understand that a child in his early years has remarkable capacity for learning therefore we provide the child with an environment conducive to exploring and learning.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

OUR SUNNY WORLD
1. Rehabilitation center for children with ASD
“Our Sunny World”
A world where the weather is always good
2. Our Sunny World
Founded in 1991, Our Sunny World is one of the first
organizations in Russia that helps children and young adults with
Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other developmental
challenges rehabilitate and adapt to become active members of
the society.
3. We believe that every person is valuable despite individual
peculiarities and the only criterion of 'norm' is the
opportunity for each child to develop adequately within the
society.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
4. We strive to provide professional help to each child and
adult with Autism and their families in Russia. Our mission
is to aid such children in development, rehabilitation and
social adaptation.
OUR MISSION
6. The Center uses its «program of integrated ecosystem rehabilitation
and social adaptation of children and young people with autism and
other disabilities», which was created in 1992 and first presented in
1997 at the IХ International Congress in Denver, USA, and was
published as a booklet in 2002.
9. ENLIGHTENMENT AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY
Since 1995 «Our Sunny World» serves as a 'resource educational center' where specialists
and parents of children with autism can learn how to effectively work with children and
adults on the spectrum. Our Sunny World continually passes on the experience that its
specialists gathered in over twenty years. The Center regularly holds round tables, seminars
and trainings for rehabilitation specialists as well as parents and grandparents of children
with ASD from Moscow and other regions.
10. ДетиEach week, our center is visited by over three hundred children ages one-
and-a-half and older and young adults with autism and other developmental
challenges. Here, they are helped by seventy highly qualified specialists and
volunteers to develop social skills. In over twenty years, our specialists have
helped change the quality of life of several thousand children and their
families. With the help of our Center, many children with ASD in Russia
can attend regular day care, schools (special, as well as regular), and have a
socially active lifestyle.
11. OUR STAFF
We have more than 70 experts specializing in different fields: doctors, special
education teachers, speech therapists, neuropsychologists, art-therapists,
kinesiotherapists, specialists in ABA, Floortime, TEACCH, sensory
integration, ergo therapy, etc.
Many of our specialists are parents of children with autism. We also employ a
number of persons with Asperger's syndrome and autism. Some of them are
our alumni.
13. o Correction of development of children with ASD and
other pervasive disorders
o "Ontogenetic" approach: stages in development of the
necessary functional skills, "sensitive periods",
"function determines form". Reliance on positive
experience. Moving emphasis from fixing maladaptive
behaviors to reliance on well developed abilities.
o The positive experience of interaction with the outside
world as a basis for the proper development of
adaptive skills.
o Maximum motivation to interact - not forcing, but
rather engaging children with ASD.
o Multimodal effect: ensuring that a child with ASD has
an access to all the experiences a typical child gets
on their own. Providing age-appropriate and
developmentally relevant information.
14. o The diversity of approaches - 20 years of selecting
methods of correction for children with ASD.
o The variety of forms of sessions (based on the number of
participants).
§ The ‘pestushkova’ form: syntony (social sensitivity)
§ Individual sessions: the dialogue
§ Mini-groups: 2:2 in the individual or shared activities
§ Trial group form: 4 children + 4 instructors
§ Game groups: 6-8 children
§ Social project, etc.
The «number of staff = number of children»
during the session
15. • Individual sessions with specialists in somatosensory therapy, kinesiotherapy,
speech pathology and speech therapy, productive activities, art therapy, ABA,
Floortime, TEACCH, music therapy, animal-therapy etc.
• Alternative methods of communication (computer, iPad, PECS), etc.
• Game therapy(individual sessions and folk game groups)

17. SENSORY SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT
The Method of Somatosensory Correction for Children with ASD was developed
by Igor Shpitsberg, Center's director, in 1995. It allows to substantially restore the
deficit of normal perception and significantly improve social interactions in children
with autism (patent №2412727). The Method has been used for over fifteen years
and helped many children improve their perception ability, giving them the
opportunity to participate in society. The Method is a part of an Integrated
Rehabilitation Program.
18. Method is based on the studies of specifics in
development of sensory systems in children with
autism, especially, in the field of vision and
hearing.
DEVELOPING OF SENSORY SYSTEMS
19. Medical patent (2007) Stanford University publication (2014)
DEVELOPING OF SENSORY SYSTEMS
21. In 2011, in collaboration with Julia Ertz (MA, BCBA), the project «Correctional
work with children with autism based on applied behavior analysis (theory and
practice)» was created . The center is the only organization in Russia that
provides most comprehensive (225 hours for all four modules) Behavioral Analysis
training – BCBA approved by the International Board (www.bacb.com ). Five
hundred specialists graduated the Program in 2015 including 7 graduates who
successfully passed the international exam and received BCBA. Approximately
1000 specialists and over 1500 parents completed the online version of the
program.
In 2015, on our students‘ initiative, the Association of Behavioral Analytics of
Russian Federation was established. In the same year the First Russian
ABA conference was held.
ABA - Behavioral Approach
22. DIR - FLOORTIME
This method forms the basis required for the development of
social skills children acquire during complex rehabilitation on
one hand and facilitates the application of these skills in
everyday life.
By involving a child in joint play activity, teachers or parents
create opportunities for honing social skills: joint attention,
emotional contact with others, and shared activity.
23. SPEECH THERAPY AND SPECIAL EDUCATION: COMMUNICATION
SKILLS
Speech therapy is different for children with disabilities than for
neurotypical children, therefore, our specialists use a wide range of
various methods and approaches tailored to each child’s individual
needs that will have the most effective result.
24. PRODUCTIVE ACTIVITY AND ART THERAPY
Developing of the child's perception is achieved through interaction with
different materials (paper, clay, plasticine, cereals, paints, etc.), shapes,
textures, colors.
During the lessons gross and fine motor skills develop leading to a natural
regulation of tonus.
This method effectively develops motor abilities, and
improves cognitive, emotional and perception
capabilities of a child.
25. FOLKLORE AND DEVELOPMENTAL GAMES
Sessions in a play group differ from individual ones. Only in a play group
one can see a child among his or her contemporaries. We create children’s
environment where they develop in a most natural way.
A play session is a complex lesson where children learn to imitate, improve gross motor,
fine motor, and speech. They also learn how to maintain attention on on what is going on
and develop the sense of rhythm. For a child with disabilities a play group is one of a few
possibilities to experience peer play and interaction, to form relations with others, to get
a feedback from them.
27. HANDICRAFTS
is using unique properties of
different activities to form
good functional skills in
children with disabilities
needed in everyday life.
HANDICRAFTS
29. Complex of methods directed to correction of motion
sphere of children with various disabilities.
ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL TRAINING AND SPORT
At the lessons children get an experience of ‘correct’
motion – in walking, overcoming of obstacles, playing
with a ball, etc.
30. KINESIOTHERAPY
Sessions are directed to develop the deep sensibility, motion skills,
building of the ‘scheme of the body’, improving coordination of
movements, gross and fine motor activity, developing of
communicative and cognitive faculties.
Under observation and supervision of a specialist a child
gets new sensations and new experience of his or her
body .
32. COMPUTER AS A MEANS OF DEVELOPING OF THINKING AND
ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION
Due to its ability to draw and hold attention, computer allows a child to
develop his or her thinking, attention, memory, and other important mental
processes in an easy playful manner.
For many nonverbal children computer becomes a way to communicate with
others.
33. Our Center is the author of the first in Russia Social
Communicative developing app (I-Pad) in Russian
language – for children with autism, 2012.
34. DOG THERAPY
Specially trained therapy dogs provide unique means of
rehabilitation for children with developmental disabilities.
Dogs positively affect both physical and mental development
of children, promote the development of communicative skills
and improve children’s emotional health.
35. EQUESTRIAN THERAPY
Hippotherapy (therapeutic horse riding) is widely used for
treatment and rehabilitation of all kinds of disabilities – from
postural disorder to cerebral palsy, mental deficiency, genetic
syndromes and autism.
36. OUR EQUESTRIAN DEPARTMENT HAS 8 HORSES AND
ABOUT 30 EMPLOYEES AND WORKS 7 DAYS A WEEK TO
HELP OUR PATIENTS
39. Preparation groups for kindergarten, preschool, and
school classes.
SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN WITH ASD IN
EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
40. SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN WITH ASD IN
EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
Support and assistance for children attending kindergartens and schools.
Advising teaching staff, training of tutors and assistants.
42. CULINARY GAME PROJECT
The project is focused on developing social and playing
interactions.
Here children learn to cook and serve the table;
they develop logical thinking, attention and memory
during the playtime.
43. «THEATRE» PROJECT
In the theatre studio kids can show their talents, free their imagination and get
new experiences of interaction and communication with partners on stage.
The skills will be useful for children in everyday life and
memories about the success on the stage will be long lasting.
44. «CIRCUS» PROJECT
Inclusive project «Circus» provides an opportunity for kids with special
needs to participate along with neurotypical children, because everyone
has their talents.
During rehearsals they work on their movement coordination, body
sensation, verbal memory, imagination, and self-control. Parents and
guests watch the show , and are often surprised by the capabilities of
their children.
Parents have one more reason to be proud of their child`s artistic
talent.
45. ANIMATION PROJECT
Children learn to create characters, make stories, create cartoons
and record sound under the guidance of a professional animator.
Every session includes viewing and discussing of
children’s favorite cartoons with filmmakers.
46. “NEWS CAST” PROJECT
The project allows children to apply their creative ideas,
develop independence and initiative.
Kids create their own news reports about the Center’s
events and share the rehabilitation process with their
parents.
47. «SCOUTS» PROJECT
This project was created for children and teenagers with special needs
from the age of 10 and older.
It creates conditions for social interaction, perception improvement,
learning about environment, and playing skills development.
Children learn to see value of every group member and
to understand their own role in a team.
48. «YOUTH CLUB» PROJECT
This is the place where the Center’s adult pupils get together.
They talk with instructors about everything, listen to music, read
aloud and have discussions.
The sessions include theatrical art, communicative and
interactive trainings. Comfortable atmosphere unlocks
talents and develops various abilities .
49. SOCIAL PROJECT
The main goal is teaching children, teens and adults (12 years and
older) with special needs the ability to be in everyday social
situations and to interact successfully with team members.
The project consists of a series of social, sports, musical, art work
(drawing, clay, felting), speech therapy, games with speech therapy
group classes, attended by all participants. Each class is facilitated
by a specialist with appropriate qualifications. Each class has
rehabilitation tasks appropriate for the average level of the group.
Higher functioning participants often play the roles helpers and
instructor’s assistants.
50. «ROCK BAND» PROJECT
We use positively charged
environment to motivate,
educate, and socialize
young people with autism.
The founder of the rock band

61. Every year ‘Our Sunny World’ holds an integrative, rehabilitative, and health improving
summer camp for children and adults with ASD and other disabilities , and their
parents.
Our center was the first organization in Russia to hold a rehabilitation camp and it
was attended by both typical children and children with autism in 1992.
Summer integration camp
62. The camp is a miniature model of the bigger world with
the nature at its core and all elements of natural
environment. The immersion in such environment, in our
opinion, is the most harmonious and effective approach
to rehabilitation.
63. Daily camp activities are intense; they provide the sense
of unity with nature and form a comprehensive
rehabilitation process
64.
65. During individual and group sessions, peer play, through theatrical
performances, craft, and creative workshops children find the new
understanding of their own abilities. The nurturing atmosphere helps
kids communicate without fear, and gives them their first experience of
co-creativity.
66. Intensive summer camp rehabilitation course is highly effective and, as a rule, allows our
kids to dramatically improve their development and social adaptation.
Family members find new appreciation of their children with special needs, they learn to
communicate and understand them.
72. PARENT/GRANDPARENT TRAINING
Every parent, raising a child faces daily issues of his or her development,
learning, and socialization. In "special needs" families parents have to pay
extra attention to those problems and often there is no single easy or single
solution.
At our center, we help both our children, and their parents , grandparents, and
legal guardians.
Often, when parents come to us, they meet others with the same problems and
questions and form the social support circles with other parents.
We also provide individual psychological services to parents and family
counseling sessions.
In addition, we actively educate our parents. Our lead experts conduct
seminars and lectures for adult family members and children. These lectures
are received with great interest.
All activities for parents including the seminars, conferences, sessions with
psychologists and many others actions are always for free in our center.
73. Many parents often face misunderstanding and even rebuke from the
grandparents who are trying to help in their own way.
Children can sense this tension and it`s really hard for them.
Therefore, our Center hosts seminars for grandparents.
WORKING
WITH PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS
74. Our male staff host special seminars for fathers with children
with ASD and other developmental disorders where dads can
share their worries and concerns, find like-minded people, and
learn such things as:
- How to engage and educate the child?
- How to communicate with a nonverbal child?
- How to handle tantrums and self-injurious behaviors at
home?
- How to handle tantrums and inappropriate behaviors in
public?
SPECIAL SUPPORT FOR FATHERS
75. - How to deal with frustration
about maladaptive behaviors?
- How to solve the problem of
preschool and school
education?
- What is the specific father’s
role in raising a child with
autism?
- What can fathers do that
moms can`t?
- Whether or not to use
medication?
SPECIAL SUPPORT FOR FATHERS (Cont.)
76. Each week, our center is visited by over three hundred children aged one-and-a- half
years and older and young adults with autism and other developmental challenges. Here,
they are helped by seventy highly qualified specialists and volunteers to adapt to the
society. In over twenty years, our specialists have helped change the quality of life of
several thousand children and their families. With the help of our Center, many children
with ASD are able to attend regular day care, schools (Special Education, as well as
regular), and have a socially active lifestyle. Friendly and warm atmosphere of the Center
cures, inspires, and brings hope and belief in oneself.
77. We clearly understand that in order to provide
comprehensive support to people with autism and their
families in Russia we need to consolidate all the
positive experiences in the lat 25 years from other
similar national organizations as well as the best
international expertise.
We actively collaborate with Coordinating Council for
the Disabled at Social Chamber of Russian Federation.
The most qualified experts from government and
private organizations are assembled there to help
people with autism.
