3. Why this location? I think that the alley would be a great location for my photo shoot for several reasons. Firstly, it is quite dark in the alley which would give the images a sense of danger and give the band an edgier feel. This particular alley is quite grotty and dirty as well and this agrees with the conventions of the indie/ skater genre that my magazine will focus on. The alley is quite small and enclosed and therefore symbolises the relationship between the three girls and shows that the band are very close and are like a family. The fact that there are rubbish bins around the place gets rid of any sense of glamour within the band and gives the band and therefore the magazine, a very true and raw sense.

4. First Model Name: Alice Jackson Age: 16 Why I chose her: Alice is very individual and this is shown through both her attitude and her sense of style. She loves to be different but it also quite fashionable. She is also very confident and this is evident throughout her expressions and her fearlessness of the camera. She uses the camera to her advantage and appears dominant in most images and therefore, she is perfect for the lead singer of the band. Props that she will use: She will be dressed in blue dyed jeans, a tan t shirt and a black coat with fur on the collar.

5. Second Model Name: Lucy Culshaw Age: 17 Why I chose her: Lucy’s look is very different to any others. Her face is not one you could forget or get confused. She not only had a very indie style but her short cropped and styled red hair also contributes to the genre that I am aiming for. Lucy also exudes a certain confidence yet still manages to have a slight shyness and cuteness about her which creates a more interesting character. After all, I wouldn’t want all three members of the band to be the same, a definite difference between band members is needed to create a successful band that an audience would be interested in. Props that she will use: Lucy will be wearing a tight mini skirt with black tights, black biker boots and a blue baggy sweater.

Third Model Name: Lotte Dobeni Age: 16 Why I chose her: Lotte is half Belgian and half English and this gives her an exotic sense, therefore making her interesting because of her difference to the majority of the audience as my typical audience are fully English or American. Lotte is particularly tall with short dark hair and tanned skin. She’s also very pretty and this is particularly a necessity for people dealing with fame. Props that she will use: Lotte will wear a blood red dress to bring colour to the photographs. This dress will be matched with a short denim jacket, black tights and a blue scarf.

7. Photo Shoot - Second Location

8. Why this location? These photographs were taken in the park in Wantage, Oxfordshire. I chose to do a second shoot as I did not like many of the photos from the first one in particular and therefore could not find a main image to use for my front cover. I thought there should be a change in location because the alleyway was very dark and although I could alter this with the DSLR camera, I thought that a brighter location would bring out the fun side of the band and I could therefore emphasise their youth in my article. I decided not to tell Alice and Lucy what to do or how to pose in the photographs, we just went on a dog walk in the park and I took photographs of them casually. I did this because, after analysing the first shoot, I came to the conclusion that they were too stiff and false and so I decided that the only way I could portray the band’s true indie personality was to allow the band members to decide themselves on their own stances and facial expressions.
