This document discusses the Old Roosevelt Field Groundwater Treatment Facility in Garden City, NY, a Superfund site that was awarded LEED certification. The facility was constructed to process groundwater contaminated from the site's previous use as an airfield in the 1930s. Work included removing asphalt, constructing roads and fencing, installing wells and piping, and erecting a pre-engineered metal building. A key feature is using treated groundwater for geothermal heating/cooling and flushing toilets, conserving potable water and reducing domestic use by 100%. The facility complies with EPA green remediation practices.
